Uhm........ok, Neon Genisis Evangelion for a classic, Code Geass for a more modern one, a personal favortie of mine is Pumpkin Scissors, And then theres Ergo Proxy, and of course Gurren Lagann, oh and how about Full Metal Alchemist? Watched code geass, NGE, Ergo Proxy, and FMA. I'll give you this; They're top notch anime's. But I guess i'm just a Light fanboy. The distance between those animes is just huge. Death note has superb animation, the best soundtrack i've ever heard for anything (movie/show/anime alike) a great plot, and the best characters ever. (Exept for Lulu). So no ass-kissing from me. Yet.

depends on your personal taste. but i usually work in a progressive order, as in each full fledged amv i make is better than all the previous ones. that's how i see it.

check out my "whispers in the dark- death note amv" or my "get with the times amv". i see them as far superior than this. =]
