  • I saw BD in Blood Brothers in the 1980s, this captures it very well - great performance. would say this was the high-point of her career, thanks to the uploader for the memories.

  • Wow, how lovely. From one Dickson to another I'm glad that you and the group are very good. Brava!

  • This was a studio recording for a Channel 4 series called "Ladybirds". On the programme, at the end of the song, Willy Russell walks on stage and says "Crap"!

  • @TheWestendboy

No he doesn't - I've got the show on video. What's interesting is why you would say that?

  • What an exquisite voice! Everything she sings has so much emotion without wild gesturing. What a class act!

  • See you soon

  • the most amazing musical ever seen it so many times, sadley not this year though but my kids are going andthey cant wait, love this so much heart felt and tears of joy and sadness all through, thank you willy russel for this amazing musical xxxx

  • Great

  • Loved the 'Blood Brothers' musical

  • Can't believe all the ranting about Mel C in Blood Brothers. No one can sing these songs like Dickson. After all these years, she's still the best.

  • I recall watching this in 198? when it was broadcast on TV and simply fell in love with this version of it. Sadly can't find a better quality copy. Love Barbara's voice and that bass flute - truly beautiful and haunting.

  • Mel C was brilliant at singing this!

  • @wanderingchild283

Sure she was...but I'm sure Mel C would admit that as a singer she's simply outclassed by Dickson who is one of the finest female singers the UK has ever produced!

  • remeber her when she was a travelling folkie allways a good act good on the lass

  • I saw this on Friday evening! And oh my God! How good is this!

Deep yet light enough to get us to laugh at some of the antics.

  • I saw this on saturday and Nicki Evans was fantastic, she did a wonderful job ^^

And Barbara Dicksons voice is just..beautiful :)

  • oh wow melanie c is going to be playing her in london this year! I dont know much about the play but i hope she can pull it off.

  • amazing!!!

  • chilling!

  • In this song her voice has a haunting quality... quite beautiful.

  • One of the most beautiful voices I have heard. The lady was born to sing !

  • i love blood brothers. i did it at school for coursework in feburary and saw the london show in january and again a few weeks ago in may

  • <3<3 this play!

Saw it in London in April with my school.

    Was bloody brilliant.

  • I saw the Lady who was in the X Factor Finals play Mrs. Johnstone yesterday, and she was absolutely incredible!

    Blood Brothers <3

  • I saw it last week too, Niki Evans was amazing! Loved the show :)

  • Yeah Niki Evans!

She was so perfect for that part :]

  • She was her voice suited the songs perfectly :)

What day did you see it?

  • lovely song love it barbra dickson sings it lovely

  • the musical is amazing and has a lot about the social and political problems un england during the 1980s :D

    oh how clever lol:D

  • I know it doesnt sound very discerning, but I have seen Barbara, Helen Reddy, Kiki Dee and Lyn Paul all play this part, all good (toss up between Barbra and Lyn who was the best on stage)! This show is so 'English' and packs such an emotional punch, I take all my American friends to see it when they visit London (I also saw Stehanie Lawrence do it on Broadway). Pity it looks so cheap on stage - Bill Kenwright must have made millions over the years.

  • Ive never seen the production , I luv the music...petula clar. it's 2009 and I am still waitin for a professional revival

  • The current Kenwright production in the west end is tired and cheap. It has none of the rawness, passion and real power of the original Liverpool production - with Barbara Dickson creating the Olivier winning award role of Mrs J. Her successors have, inevitably, been pale imitations.

  • I saw Lyn, went to see her last year, with my school, she was brilliant, definetly one of the best Mr Johnstones I would have chosen. xxx

  • I Saw Maureen Nolan as Mrs J, yesterday at Newcastle!!!!!

    BLOODY FANTASTIC

  • I watched the latest one by Niki Evans and Stephen Palfreman when I was in London. It's awesome!

Good music, strong emotions, but tragic story though

  • just ordered the original copy of BB off Amazon. With Babs and the McGanns.Cant wait 4 it 2 arrive.

  • I wish I could have seen her Blood Brothers performance too. I suppose, though it's unlikely, she could turn in a Mrs Johnstone again some time. There are few performers who could return to a role after 25 years and would still have the voice to do it. Barbara's voice is still on top form, which is pretty rare for singers of her longevity.

  • Can you imagine having to decide which child you have to give away because you are poor and are only able to support just one? Still happens every day all over the world, breaks my heart...

  • This is Really Gd

i Went to See This once With My School and agen this year with my family!!

  • mint! Wish i could have sen her in blood brothers myslef, i have seen Linda Nolan and a few others who are just as good :D

  • Just superb. She is the best

  • Beautiful!
