  • is this traditional jiu jistu or brazilian?

  • did you start bjj first or jjj first?

  • @alxh89 jjj

  • what is the difference between japanese jiu jitsu and brazilian jiu jitsu.??please help.thank you very much

  • What if he try to bite you?

  • you beat the shit out of that guy does he ever do submissions on you?

  • shit man, you know your stuff

  • We like to do this one in DZR. I put his hand on top of the other foot for added pain.

  • @SongBirdJesusFreak Yeah because a knife means EVERYTHING. Don't you know that jiu jitsu began for the purpose of fighting an armed opponent while you're disarmed? Obviously you don't. GTFO.

  • @SongBirdJesusFreak dear sir or madam: you are so right. In fact, I think you have such a great point that we should just stop any and all martial arts training FOREVER. Because obviously if an adversary has a thin piece of metal, then there is NO WAY that you can win, you may as well commit suicide, right? So why waste your time training for several long years learning to basically become a professional badass when you can just hope that you don't get attacked, makes perfect sense!

  • Japanese is better based in reality.

  • we di this stuff in aikido

  • Oh...then we just simply shoot the person in the face. Problem solved right?

  • @Submissions101 exactly. whoever has the bigger gun wins.

  • @Submissions101 yeah, songbirdjesusfreak is a douche bag. he's a typical gun nut moron who thinks the gun will solve everything. like to see when he is confronted without a side arm.

  • @Submissions101 Nice techniques. I practice Okinawan Shorin-Ryu Karate, nearing my 6th year now and preparing for 1st degree black belt. I love the oriental martial arts, I think they have and probably always will be the most effective due to their original sole purpose of self-defense. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is great for ground work no doubt and I'd like to learn basic techniques in case ever in a situation as such, but I believe standing is the no. 1 important and my focus.

  • @ValkyereHowie My sensei formerly studied under Okinawan Shorin-Ryu karate (very good, won a national and world chamionship in his day), he now studies BJJ. And how he puts it really made sense to me. You never want to be on the ground, but in a self defense situation, you may not even know you're in a fight until you hit the ground.

  • @Submissions101 where i come from, the people who arrest people for living rely on outnumbering rather than outgunning the suspects, when there's no gun to begin with. i guess it could be other way around in america, but the local d.a's gotta eat too. :-\

sometimes they use strategies like one pins the suspect down like this, while the other 'secures his back' by soccer-kicking the suspects ribs broken with their shiny combat boots. security is such a fun and orgasmic concept.

  • @Submissions101 LOLOL!!

  • @Submissions101

    I loled pretty hard.

Nice videos mate ;) This has encouraged me to start classes!

  • i think it depends on what feels rite to u whether ur on ur toes or not

  • Nice to see the original JJ. According to Wally Jay, BJJ is just a part of the whole of Japanese JJ.

  • @Lexicologist71

BJJ is much more judo than JJJ.

  • IS EXCELLENT ALL THE VIDEO

  • good stuff.

  • he have him totally in control - awesome

  • Yes, Considering O'Sensei took techniques from different forms of art, Japanese Jiu Jitsu and Aikido go hand in hand. Very nice.

  • good clear explanation. Although the shoulder lock (aka nikyo pin) I was taught to be on my toes while kneeling when applying it. I couldn't see from the angle but on the 1st pin I've also been taught to be on my toes.

  • Thank you for your comments. Being on your toes is a moot point when in boots on the street. I always like to take the techniques 'out of the dojo' into the real world and apply them in that arena-the most important one in my opinion.

  • omg poor guy =(

he got tortured for 2 minutes and 49 seconds in this video D=

  • I've seen a lot of your submissions101 instructional movies. I like them a lot, I practice JJJ myself, unfortunately there is no BJJ school near where I live.

Your instructionals help me a lot in the gym. The techniques are always very well explained. Thank you and keep them coming!

  • TAPTAPTAP! lol, that cracks me up!

  • It's Aikido - ikkyo and nikkyo (1st and 2nd technique) - from Daito ryu aikijujitsu.

started aiki in 87 and bjj in 96 .....

  • i'd agree with that. the 2nd lock is essentially the classic yoshinkan finish to most techniques.

  • Great video!

    Ikkyo and Nikkyo FTW

nice detail on ikkyo using hand or chin to create disconfort/pain.

    2year Aikido practice myself

  • Hi guys , been watching 101 vids for a while now and also checked out your website, i would like to purchase a traditional japanese ju jitsu dvd,as i train in traditional jap ju jitsu, will you ever make one to sell?

i know soon you will be putting all your techniques into catorgories but will the be a jap ju jitsu dvd to look forwards to?

    many thanks

    muzzy

  • What you guys thinks its the best? Aikido or Jiu Jitsu?

  • We'll, we are jiu jitsu guys so we like jiu jitsu. Aikido comes from jujutsu but I studied aikido for over 10 years as well.

  • they go hand in hand and compliment eachother. if u can do both thats the way to go

  • so you teach aikido too ?

  • We do some aikido in our classes, but we don't teach it per se.

  • That's cool, works well together.. flowing motion with the mechanical stuff that jujitsu uses. I'm actually studying both styles at once - under the system, we earn rank both in traditional jujitsu and Yoshinkan aikido.

  • Gotta say I feel sorry for Dillon's shoulder lol! Love the control/pain techniques bring on more Ari many thanks!

  • I like this kind of techniques, the person with avantage is on his knees and can get up fast if needed (in case another attacker comes), I belive this is better than going to the ground with your oponent when you throw him.

  • Cant you roll forward to counter the "Shoulder Lock" version of the pin. Just wondering if i ever get arrested :P

  • No...mnay people ask this. The shoulder is locked out and will break if that is attempted. Find a japanese jj or aikido guy to show you ;-)

  • What is the difference between BJJ and JJJ?

  • Whoa boy..that's a big one. Your best bet is to read the Wiki on it or check out the article by Stephan Kesting from Grappling Arts where they talk about the difference between the 2 arts.

  • its not about different techniques, given the moves in either, its about the emphasis on different types of techniques. traditional jj may b more stand-up fighting and utilises wrsit, finger locks, etc but u often get modern jj classes that try a balance between that and groundfighting.with either have an open mind, the only real limitation in learning the arts should b the names of moves. here i mean arts, the sport versions of bjj and jj obviously have different limitations and rules.

  • this actually closely resembles an aikido technique commonly used, itself related to classical jujitsu

  • I actually do recall seeing a video of someone getting his arm broken when the second pin was applied too strong. Made quite a sickening sound.

  • Hey, I really liked that first pin attack thing.

I was wondering if you could show it being used in a situation where the person is struggling.

  • When the level of resistance goes up, the level of force goes up. That means someone who is struggling will get strikes to the back of the head while placing much more force of the arm (almost spiking your knee/shin bone onto the muscle). You can't be nice to someone who is actively trying to get up. The more you struggle, the nastier you have to become.

  • i understood his legs came up in pain.. that made it funny :D But thanks for all the videos, and helping me with the fact that all your JJJ is mixed in with you BJJ... i love all of your videos, and have seen um all, and ari your a great teacher from what i've seen... Keep up the great work!!

  • you see his feet 1:21 :D... i was wondering sub 101 team, how many of your techniques are Brazilian jiu jitsu compared to Japanese jiu jitsu?

  • Brett:

I really depends on what the technique is really. This is VERY JJJ (his feet flared because of the pain). Like we've said, JJJ and BJJ are really good together.

  • excellent

  • This will come in usefull.

  • nice... im a big fan of you guys and id like to know how to esscape a sleeperhold

  • u mean rear naked choke? its very hard to get out once ure in it, so just avoid getting caught. always keep ure chin down and at least 1 arm hugging ure neck.

on a side note. i love those subs u showed, only prob i c, is gettin some1 in that position in the first place

  • they already did!!! they showed it from standing and from the ground!!! check their videos list

  • look at submissions video page...u'll find it there...or search "escape submissions101"
