I'm gonna put some slicks on it, strip it out, drop the AC, new shocks and springs and BAM! pocket autocross racer for $1800 that can beat a Miata.

  • the dice was a nice touch...

  • 1986 Eldorado was the first car i ever drove, i LOVE that 73' , a real land yacht!

  • bought 1990 2dr toyota corolla sr5 for $600, then 1986 crx si, then 1983 volvo for $1200....the volvo lasted me from 2002-2006 with some repairs....i totaled the corolla in the poconos in 2002, and the crx had some rust on the frame, so would not pass PA inspection, but my friend's dad who was going to sell it to me let me use it for a few months.... fun to drive for a while anyway, like a go-kart....my point: beaters rock, so long as you have a backup one waiting for you!

  • The 1973 Eldorado's overall length was 222.4 inches with a 126.8 inch wheel base, The 2010 Suburban's overall length is also 222.4 inches but has a 130 inch wheelbase.

  • I got my 95 Grand Marquis for $1200. One owner, old lady 134,000 miles on it when I got it. It needed no work at all, all I have done to it now is put new brakes, tires, alignment, and just the regular maintenance. My neighbor was nice enough to let me have it for cheap when my truck bit the dust.

  • the best deal Ive ever gotten was a 1986 VW Quantum for $50

  • I bought my 94 miata for 1000 bucks. Although I did have to rebuild the differential and it had 225K on it... I deliver pizzas and thrash it around daily... It drives like a champ. Plus what can beat a convertible at that price? Earlier generations can be found on craigslist for around 1500 with reasonably low milage. With some patience you can find an awesome miata. Matt, get a miata beater. It would be perfect.

  • looks like it needs an alignment

  • tiwana?

    i need new interior :(

  • i just bought a 92 s10 lowered 4 inches with all beltech suspension painted white and grey with green flames down the side. it has a 4.3 v6 and flowmasters and beats the snot out of all the camaros and firebirds and other trucks that ive raced and i only paid 700 BUCKS for it

  • The' 73 Cadillac is about 18'7" long

    '73 Suburban is about 18'3"

  • Stupid question. So many ways. I never paid over $800 for a car. I've owned many.

  • @CyrusDawes $800....which is why you've owned many.

  • Who the f*ck would give The Smoking Tire a thumbs down?!?

    I guess four people

    Thumbs up from me

  • @elcampesino56 That's not bad at all. I assume this was an "SL" and not a VR4, right?

  • Comment removed

  • @EatmyDust1311 yeah. I take delivery the first week in June.

  • Comment removed

  • @EatmyDust1311 I'm turning my Raptor into the best camera car in history, able to get shots from absolutely anywhere. There's no point to spending the money on something like that unless you plan on using it. A dyno tune, for a N/A engine, is only useful if you do other mods, and then re-tune the car to compliment the mods. You won't get much out of a tune by itself on a N/A engine. I wouldn't fuck with it though, since SVT knows what they are doing when it comes to this truck.

  • Comment removed

  • @EatmyDust1311 as in, if you get a catback exhaust, intake, and headers, you want to re-tune for those mods. If you bolt any power-adders on, you optimize them by getting a tune.

  • Comment removed

  • @EatmyDust1311 whatever, that's not the point. I'm just saying that you do your bolt ons first, and then re-tune. no point in getting a tune if there's no mods to tune for.

  • @TheSmokingTire Can i havea smiley face? Ill sub..

  • 4,000 got me a 2003 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor with 90,000 miles...had it for 3 days... best car i've ever owned.

  • @indi3 those are fantastic buys on the cheap. Make it look like a generic detective car with steelies, tints, antennas and a search light, and people will get out of your way on the highway... tried it, awesome.

  • @TheSmokingTire The 134 in Burbank cleared for me, i was doing about 95 in the Detective Grey CVPI...such an awesome car to own, and really reliable

  • @TheSmokingTire I paid 500$ for an 04 Poilce interceptor Vic with 190,000 KM. Its a great option for a 16 year old. Plenty of power. Lots of fun. :)

  • @riverdave7 i was a mechanic at ford and drove police cars.. i was very disappointed in the acceleration.

  • @indi3 lol im lookin to do that as soon as i get the cash. not too bad of a car either haha

  • @indi3 best car ever RIP to my 98'

  • If ye go to Cuba , ye can get like TEN veteran cars for a grand . ( :

  • @Hemulen40 good luck getting them out of the country.

  • @TheSmokingTire good point. you would need another grand just for them to let you out.

  • great vid. This 1000 dollar think has more a crowd than most internet market rallyers pretend not to exist. Another note abourt cheap, is focusing either on a good chassis and bad engine, or great engine bad chassis..compromising lands a 1000 dollar cars all the time.

  • looking forward to the bullrun videos!

  • mk3 supra turbo targa for a grand that how much i bout mines

  • 8mpg lol :P

  • it looks like it needs a wheel alignment LOL

  • FWD muscle. (palm face) haha

  • Well Matt, the over all length of that 73' Caddie is 224 inches

90' Suburban is 219.1--2010 Suburban is 222.4 inches

    Yes, that's a big bitch!!!!!!!!

  • Hey Matt

    Good episode.

About a month ago i saw a black 1996 Mustang GT with 170k KM on it (just over 100k miles) sell for 1900 bux. perfect inside and out. came with a magnaflow exhaust, CAI, and a short throw shifter.

Thats a hell of a deal.

  • @DaBluedude100 yes it is, buy and build a drag car!

  • @TheSmokingTire I already own pretty much the exact same thing and it was apraised at 7k a year ago. I was tempted tho. But having 2 of the same car makes little sense. But it would be fun if I had one to build up while daily driving the other then overnight it would look like it transformed into a beast.

  • i got 1999 acura 3.2 tl with 175,000 on it for 1500 cuz some minor dings and scratches. still runs like champ and i got 205,000 now

  • I actually found an Eldorado on Craigslist for $1000! It doesn't say what year it is though, it may or may not be a 73!

I almost got a 76 Deville for $400 but that thing was way too big for me (a foot longer than your Eldorado!)

Also, there used to be a used-car lot in Philadelphia called Harry's Cheap Cars. Most of his lot was giant 70s Cadillacs, but there were also a couple 80s tin cans. Some were worth it, some weren't.

  • Its so long but has such little rear leg room HaHa.

  • I got a flawless 1989 Cadillac deville for $500 its awesome

  • This is by far the best of the several intro videos

  • i live bout half an hour from nyc...would i still be able to come to the kick-off party and if so when is it?

  • @billiardball001 you need to be on the list to get into the actual party but its in times square on July 9th

  • i got an acura integra for 1800 and its great never have failed me

  • your watch would by 5 of those cars

  • Matt, I'm really enjoying the varied and awesome videos you're putting up. Keep up the good work!

  • Nice dude, Im close to NY can I go to the bullrun party? lol

Awesome Cadillac I think I posted a comment before.

Great website, thanks for the tip.

  • Matt, hope to meet ya at the Bullrun Rally. Me and my dad should be going in his 03 Mach 1.

  • seems like some good guys that know their stuff, ill definitely be visiting their site in the future

  • haha i just kept laughing at the steering wheel cuz you have to keep it left to go straight LOL

  • Cadillac Eldorado FTW we used to have 1970 Cadillac Eldorado with the 500ci engine 400hp fwd that thing would roast the tiers.

  • i spy with ma little eye ferrari 250gto @2.51

can't wait for a video of that

now i'm gonna watch this pimpmobile

  • Im not from the US, so i just dont get this car, as in why anyone ever thought it would be a good idea to make a car longer than a semi truck, but have less horsepower than a vacuum cleaner. and why is the rear legroom nonexistant but you have a boot (trunk) you could park a fiesta in????? WHAA someone please explain it to me

  • @rikwatson200 It's a Cadillac that's why. Nothing they make makes any sense. Except for the CTS-V. But even that is basically a rolling brick of plastic.

  • @rikwatson200 it was the 70's. people did a lot of blow then and didn't make much sense.

  • @TheSmokingTire ...Possibly the most straightforward, hilarious, and factual response one could give.

  • @rikwatson200 it's American what did you expected?

  • @rikwatson200 to store dead bodies and drugs duh! lol

  • man that is so true on getting the interiior and paint in TJ for cheap. while you are at it stuff a couple of kilos in the seats.

  • I just looked up that CarsForAGrand website, and found a very tempting 190-series Merc, that I could clone to a 190E. Thanks a ton for that website. I'm sure the 24 Hours of LeMons guys will be happy to search through this website.

  • Great car, these guys need to set it up in the UK too. Or get some people to. I wish i had a car like this to cruise in around London.

  • I like the new intro!

    Just put a cooler song.

  • Wow. I think I just found where I want to buy my rally car shell from. Thank you, Matt, you have changed my life.

  • E30! E30! E30!

  • 1991 talon tsi turbocharged awd with 39,000 miles 2200!

  • You could get the Eldorado or two E30's. I'll bet C.F.A.G. is a good place to get cars for the 24 hours of LeMons.

Also, can we get TST shirts anytime soon?

  • @gearheadd318 yeah, we're working on that, among other many things.

  • @TheSmokingTire hey do you have to be 18 to do the black magic because I would absolutley love to do that but I am 16.

  • i got a mk2 jetta with 32k on the motor for a grand and i swear to you it is perfect no rust no body damage at all

  • The cocain smuggeling comment was a bit dissapointing. Otherwise very informative, i now know where i can go to find cars around a grand.

  • Newest Suburban is 222.4 inches

    73 Eldorado is 223 inches

  • 8:09 .. pretty plz for 1k ? ;d

  • I got a '95 Mitsubishi Diamante for 2k. The brakes did need fixing (cost $400). But it's a great car.

  • I just scored a mechanically sound 1971 K5 Blazer for $800... deals are out there ",

  • Went to that site and saw an epic project at the top of the list. 1987 Monte Carlo SS. Interior = fucked, floor = fucked. Exterior = great.
