I have always wanted to know in evolutionary terms what is the advantage of a female T eating a male that is healthy and able to breed. Surely this is bad for the species, taking out a male who has reached maturity is a disadvantage.

@pimpjuice739 Not really, I mean if the male actually gets to mate with the female, and she eats the male, you lose one male, if she gets pregnant (Or gravid), she will get about 200 - 500 eggs (Depending on what species it is, as the L. Parahybana can lay up to 2.000 egs). So you will actually get a bunch more males than the one you lose in the process of mating

Plus, to answer connjamm19, it's just nature. yeah, the females are larger, but many females in nature simply need the nutrients provided by the extra food to fertilize their eggs and produce young. males generally just have a one and done job! ;)
