  • Dear santa

  • lol i love what he said at the end........... and then the D3s arrived.

  • 3:50 and 4:21 are GORGIOUS (:

  • BEAST

  • thanks for sharing this enjoyed the behind the scenes!

  • who pays who?

  • poor elephant...

and a quantum leap is not big at all

  • poor elephant...

  • theres no recording on nikon d3 correct?

  • @TeppTennis There is in the D3s

  • @TeppTennis yes, sound recording.

  • @TeppTennis

there is no ex mic port on the D3, but the Nikon 7000 does have one.

  • The desert has always attracted me from a photographic standpoint. Beautiful scenery.

  • ur very creative and inspiring, this is reali interesting how u pulled it all off.

    i like :)

  • where can I find that picture with a big frog and the girl :D its so cool!!!

  • I'd be scared to go near an elephant. Those things are so big!!!

  • @bmten10 Actions speak louder than words. So maybe you should go out and work towards getting there.

  • im trying, currently in college for photojournalism. Maybe one day i'll be there but my dream job is national geographic

  • Goodluck. It might look easy in a video but i'm pretty sure its not that simple with just good light and models and animals. Just saying..

  • @bmten10 i wish you luck! that is a big goal and i hope you get there :)

  • @bmten10 Have you got a site where we can check out your work?

  • @bmten10 its Joe McNally, never in your life will you get better shots

  • This really is an awesome camera. The recent D3s has hardly any difference to the orig D3 which came out 2 years ago - apart from the video. My wedding photography has never been the same again as its impossible to get bad exposure shots if you know what you are doing.

  • nice resolution

  • I love how fast the continuous shooting is on the D3. Amazing considering how much data it's moving with each frame.

  • I love this pictures !Very interesting!

  • Bravos, très intéressant reportage et d'une rare qualité sur le net. Et on a vu beaucoup de ses images dans la documentation Nikon sur le D3.

Very interesting reportage and from a rare qualité seen on the web. And we have seen numerous of those pictures in the Nikon D3's catalogues.

  • where is the HD??

  • It's interesting that you shoot bursts in those subtle compositions... somewhere in that phalanx of shots, the magic happens I'm sure.

I can't thank you enough for sharing your work and expertise on YouTube. Your book Hot Shoe Diaries has been the most helpful publication using Nikon equipment that is available anywhere hands down. YOU are a master of light in this digital fast paced photographic age. I'm stunned that you have time to post here on YouTube, yet greatful! Frederick Dunn

  • Nice video, keep up the good work!!!

  • Shouldn't you be working on your photography skills instead of wasting time on YouTube???

    HAHAHAHA!

  • its called promotion.

  • lmao :P my friend has one of those...

  • Consider yourself blocked also, your childish manners are unwelcome (and quite immature from someone that's suppose to be in his 30's).

At least try to act professional, even on off hours, people will tend to respect you a bit more.

  • You can post it 6 times, it just makes you look more like an idiot.

You are an Australian fashion event photographer, come off the high horse, you are a dime a dozen (i should know i cover most of the fashion and celebrity events in Montreal for Source Media).

It's hard to take anyone seriously on the internet so i understand your skeptical position. If you are ever down in Montreal, send me a message i'll show you what kind of photography i do and where i work.

  • On my side, it is hard for me to take you seriously when you are doing open box reviews on youtube...

Lastly, i usually wouldn't mind providing you with all the pictures, links and phone call as proof, but since you are so much of a douchecunt i'll just let you stare while you drool on yourself.

  • I see there were a few shots for that "Hit the motor drive and hope things work out" folder of yours.

  • JOE, Thanks for posting this.

  • Frog pics are daft. What are you doing, Joe?

  • Great Video!!!

  • Although I'm Nikonian I'd like to add here that there are other camera systems in the world which can compete with the Nikon D3 and are at the edge of technology at the moment. Those are the Canon 1D/1Ds Mark III and the Sony A900 for example. The most important tool in photography will always be the one behind the camera - the person pressing the shutter release.

  • There are other great camera's but having tried the A900 and 1Ds Mark III, i can easily say the D3 is far ahead of them.

Hence why Canon will have a new 1D something come out to compete with it ;)

  • We have a H1D at the studio, so yes i have tried Hasselblad, its great for medium format work.

  • Ah ok i get it, internet troll lol.

  • ...and then there are those who shoot film and get much better results ;o)

  • Thats what i thought before, but the latest digital pro DSLR give better result than film.

Theirs already been a couple head to head comparison with FX vs Film, and digital won.

Feel free to Google it, or compare it yourself, you will be astonish how much digital is sharper, more vivid and more true to life.

  • The D3 is far better than the 1Ds Mark III, you would see it also if you shoot with both.

If you want more MP, then theirs the D3X with 24 MP. Unlike what the Best Buy clerk told you, its not all about MP.

Oh i'll also take 9FPS over 5FPS for my sport work.

If all you do is studio shoots, then chances are you don't bother with Nikon or Canon and shoot Hasseblad or Mamiya.

  • very nice joe, and the shots look amazing. man you must get good budgets for your shoots

  • It reminds me to Richard Avedon, Dovima with elephants

  • Awesome. Nothing else to it ;o)

  • Thanks for sharing... oh! er! exactly what hphotography700 said from me too.

  • Great video Joe! Thanks for sharing your experience!
