The reseach included listening to every recorded tape of Jones and his followers as well as raeding every transcript word for word. That is the only way one can form a true opinion, not by a movie or a news story on tv. People are very quick to judge. In brevity Jones town failed for 3 reasons. Over-population, Refusal to give up the child, Jones was sick. Nothing to do with religion.

@le238man That wasn't Ryan for the hand shake photo op that was Richard Dwyer the CIA station chief who accompanied Ryan on the trip. Dwyer was identified as a State Dept rep but he wasn't. The security issue is an open one although I'm assuming that Ryan felt it wasn't necessary or that he may have been promised something when he arrived.

A question on there being no signs of cyanide rictus in the Jonestown victims: Were there not reports that there were also mass amounts of benzodiazapine and opiate narcotics in the Flavor-aid? Would this in any way counter act the contortion and spasms associated with cyanide poisoning?

Wow there was alot missing from the story like the children being taken first and killed. Also how was it that the 2 survived if everyone drank at the same time then how would resisters be shot. Also listening to the tape of the final 44 min. there was no gun shot sound at all so how was there a gun shot in his head...hmmm
