r142 6301 is the first of the r142. The Mta ordered them in 1997, and they were being built from 1997 -1999. It ran on the tracks in 1999.

those strip maps are good timing mechanisms for when the trains enter station to get announcements the 160's don't have something that does that b4 the train enters tthe station

The one thing I keep being able to notice on the subway train anouncements by Diane Thompson vs. those by Jessica Ettinger Gottesman is tone. Diane Thompson's station anouncements (2 trains) seem much more calming than Ettinger Gottesman's station anouncements for 4, 5, and 6 trains.

I like Jessica Ettinger-Gottesman announcements on the 4 and 6 (most on the 6 and R-142A/S 4).....I don't like her on the 5 announcements Melissa Kleiner was much better!

@JamaicaQnzFreak She yells too much on the 5 announcements when it's in the Bronx going to Eastchester Dyre Avenue and when she say's "This is a Manhattan bound 5 express train". Other than that, she's good on the 5 and even greater when the 5 goes to Nereid avenue.

i found an audio clip of one alooooooooooong time ago "this is a harlem 148 street bound 3 train the next stop is 135 street" if i could only find that website they had photo's too!!! i saw it another time when i was walking away from the one train going uptown on times square.

The 1st and last time I saw a R-142 3 train i was living in Brooklyn and saw approaching Saratoga Avenue back in like b/w 1999-2000!

there never were R142s of any kind assigned to service on the 3. Sure, they ran on the 3, and they did operate everywhere on the IRT for testing (sometimes in service) - one trainset even ran on the 7 - but that was NOT in service.

Keep in mind that them appearing on the 1 and/or 3 is not uncommon as they "overflow" from the 2 whenever the shit hits the fan....
