I think the problem with editing wikipedia is it's run by a junta of major editors and so if you edit when you know the article is wrong or misleading but there is a wikipedian big-wig who keeps either putting their stuff back in, as it cites an equally misleading published source, or removing your stuff, it's a bit disheartening. Plus editing wikipedia is so lame.

@ImAMassiveBender I saw an article on this on BBC, apparently they want major editors to 'adopt' new ones; that's such a bad idea. To encourage new people to edit they have to break the power of the established editors, but if the break their power then they don't have a base of reliable editors to put some effort into creating new articles and expanding them.

Yep, people made wikipedia ( they create hundred millions of articles for education purpose , but "founder" of wikipedia makes money on us ) he says that it free, but I dont think so, because when he need money, just bring link on the pages of wikipedia, and people believe!!! So how much money people donate last year ??? 20 millions or 100 millions ???....And remember linux its free and any body says: "Please donate money we need for new production" They just made and thx for them....

@sulikoshka Linux is indeed free. But don't you think that those servers used in order to provide you a free knowledge base costs a lot? Of course Wikipedia needs to pay data centers, systems engineers, employees, etc in order to keep the webste alive and accessible. That's the reason they need donations. Think about it. :)

It's hard to imagine a world without such a comprehensive corpus of knowledge available for free to anybody who is internet connected and wants to learn about almost anything through an ever increasing volume of information. Google and Wikipedia is everything I need.
