The inherently subjectivity in metal (and just about any other flexible medium; although none can perhaps match the compositional prowess and overall influence of the metal genre) is to such an extent that any pitch/tone and sound can be manipulated and still sneak within the confines of what one considers valid metal.

It is obviously a matter of opinion. But we should remember that: Grindcore = not metal. It is predominantly a punk subgenre (little with metal).
