If your father is Terry Dempsey who wrote the song "Daydreamer", would you be so kind to send me his emailaddress? In the early seventies I recorded one of my songs in London with your father. My name as a singer was Jeremy and my real name is Ignace Baert from Belgium. He adapted the lyrics of a song of mine "Sad song". The first time we met was at the Midem in Cannes.
I would be very pleased if you could send me this information.
Sure your dad wrote the tune.I used to spend many lunchtimes with him and Peter Lotis in the chinese opposite Gallo on Kerk St some 25 yrs ago.Great guy : )
The French version WAS written by Claude Francois and whether you like it or not, his version is the second most renowned after Cassidy's. Read sentences carefully before jumping to conclusions, Utopiang.
a classic tune for any age, a very underrated singer, in his day the highest paid live performer in the world , plus the man had a bigger fan base that elvis or the beatles
There exists a French version of this song, written by then-France's reigning Seventies superstar Claude Francois, and was dubbed "Le Mal Aime" in 1974.
Thanks for this info! Just listened to Claude François' Le Mal Aimé on YouTube. Interesting. Don't enjoy François's voice as much as Cassidy's but the lyrics in French fit Cassidy very well (not being loved for who you truly are). Utopiang, your father wrote a beautiful dreamy song. Thank you Mr. Dempsey - it gives me goosebumps listening to this melody.

When TOTP celebrated its 500th show in the autumn of '73, David 'performed' this and the Puppy Song at Heathrow Airport live.
