yeah thats nick zinner playing synth on the right. which makes me love this performance more considering YYYs and arcade fire are some of my favorite bands.
Don't even like Arcade fire, to grown up for the teeny-bopper indie rock thing, but this was a beautiful performance of an even more beautiful song. If they could sound like this all the time, I might be sold. Simply stunning.
This might be my favorite "TV show" musical performance of all time. My god this is an impressive performance and an amazing song. I've always liked AF but their new stuff is pushing it to the next level for me.
@merton510 haha they even made that world peace sketch with Andy Samberg good. even if they were barley in it, it was still funny to see them get wild and dance
i like regine's rawness that she brings to arcade fire. live music isn't about being perfect, it's about the emotion. she may not have the best vocals but she has the spark and stage presence to carry the songs. she is one of the many reasons that arcade fire is amazing..
its such a shame as this is a great song but Regine just cant pull the vocal off , Ive not seen one decent live version and its one of the best lyrics on te album , she should spend less time on rushing through songs to get to her dramatics which here are way way over the top considering the vocal shes capable in other songs but not this song.
They need to do something if they continue to do this live imo it always ruins the rest .
Album version fantastic live versions Regine cannot cut it
@tnerb441 Dude chill out, they are having a good time, getting into it, i don't think they take themselves real serious, and i bet they have fun with all these little strange things they do together like that. should music always be totally serious no-nonsense? is it bad to have fun with a little bit of ridiculousness?
I love this band, but i can't help but feel like her voice just doesn't sound that great. Don't get me wrong, I have tons of respect for this band and for their music, in fact I am a huge fan of theirs, but her voice breaks or just doesn't hit the notes. I don't know if she means to do that, but I can't help but feel disappointed.
@PalmisMaximus I think she was putting a lot of emotion into it, and so that does make your voice break or mess up a bit. I personally think it just adds to this performance, which is IMHO one of their best of this song.
@Capejen21, SEE THEM LIVE, SEE THEM LIVE!!!!!! They are FANTASTIC!!! I saw them back in September and they ROCKED!!! :D
Also, I disagree on those who say she can't dance. Her style of dance might be unusual and quirky, but as a dancer myself I can totally 'get' her moves. She definitely knows what she's doing applying the moves to the music and her own emotions while singing.... :-) ...even to the very last move where she 'tosses' the streamers to the ground and gives a quick lifting motion to her hands. A true artiste!
@edgehaedjr Alright thanks man I just saw them play We Used To Wait. Badass man. Arcade Fire is the greatest band ever! I just saw them last month at the shrine, totally worth it!
I'd never heard of them before...til I saw them on SNL. (btw, SNL, how DOES SNL find such great bands?!) Anyway, I was almost brought to tears watching this performance, which often happens to me when I witness amazing, creative art. Their sound is so unique, and this is also a great beat. I also loved how 'into' it the singer seems....how she moves....part like a totally unaware little girl, but also like a dancer who's very aware of her moves.... They are true ARTISTES!
By far my favorite band.....EVER! Up until the day I die. Come to Coeur d Alene.....(Heart of the Awl). You can play in my big backyard underneath the trees!
@emohskremo Sprawl II should be at the end of the show, and We Used To Wait will be like in the middle. Not 100% as I'm the West Coast and it has yet to air here.
I was in another room and my older brother was watching this. I heard her singing and I thought it was a skit. I like this song and this the first time I have heard of this group.

how exactly do you justify 2:50 ? Overly-dramatic jokers, with way too many band members to achieve their still shallow, elementary sound
