  • im selling ram for that pc on ebay please look for: Alienware area-51 m15x ddr2 ram

  • :D love em

  • Yeah nice case indeed.

Where abouts did you buy the case and whats the model called?

  • Nice carrycase.

  • Thanks.

  • @MystikIncarnate SUPER COOL your case bro

  • Thanks for the tut, very helpful.

  • corey taylor fucking god

  • how many ram slots is there?

  • two. I have not seen many Laptop systems with more than two, though one is fairly common.

desktop systems tend to have a minimum of 2...

  • That's not a question I get much, but no. it wont.

your hard drive is where everything is stored. when you start your computer, all your programs are loaded to RAM, and run from there, the reason is because the RAM is a lot faster than the hard drive, but it's more costly. it also will not store data without power. that is why we need harddrives and RAM, HD for long term storage, RAM for fast access.

    enjoy.

  • Dam I didnt know that the battery could light up.....

  • guys.

hey where can you buy cheap 8gb ram?.=s

  • 8GB is still pretty high, keep looking, there's a lot of suppliers.

it more depends on where you live, and which suppliers are available to you, than it does on what you're looking for.

  • Newegg

  • does

    CT2KIT51272AF667 240-pin DIMM DDR2 PC2-5300 • CL=5 • Fully Buffered • ECC • DDR2-667 • 1.8V • 512Meg x 72 •

    or

    CT2KIT51264AC800 200-pin SODIMM DDR2 PC2-6400 • CL=6 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR2-800 • 1.8V • 512Meg x 64

    work?

  • you need SO-DIMM DDR2 at 667Mhz at least.

... so yeah, that second one should be correct.

  • what's the difference with 4 gb and 8gb of ram?

  • Dude... you're ubber awesome. I was thinking about adding some one day once I get mine. Thanks

  • Do you know what type of ram comes with the alienware m15x?

  • DDr2 at 667 Mhz

  • Is it just the standard laptop ddr2 ram, do I need to worry about pin number?

(I'm a semi noob with this stuff, sorry =D)

  • DDR2 SO-DIMMS (for laptops) all have the same number of pins. you'll want to pay attention to the frequency. the m15x uses 667Mhz memory.

  • Ah, that makes sense. Thank you!

  • thank you very much!! i have another question--i want to put 500gb of harddrive into my m15x--is that possible? can u show me how? thx!!! u rock!

  • let me ask you this....does the power brick get really hot? Mine gets very hot. Please let me know if yours is the same. If not I gotta call Alienware. thx

  • I've never noticed my power brick being extremely hot. it does get warm, but never too warm to touch. not even close.

warm is okay, but if the plastic of the casing on the power brick is melting, you might have a problem.

  • I wouldn't really change the RAM. It's just fine. What I would change is the battery! I bought a battery for about 400 + tax. Right now it lasts for about 1 and a half day. I did all this on my Alienware Area-51 m17x.

  • whered you get that?

  • hee nice vid but I have a other question.. where did u get the smartbay battery?? or where can u buy parts for alienware?

    thanks allot

  • Call them. I ordered my SB Battery quite some time after buying my laptop. They were great about it. shipping was quick and the battery works great.

  • First off, great vid! i change out RAM a lot on my Presario V2000 and im looking to get an alienware m17x or m17x, one quick question tho, where did you get that silver case you originally had it in? I havent seen it on the Alienware website.

  • I've tried to respond to this several times, so I apologize for the long delay in response. It's a Matias case. AW sells them with their logo engraved, but you can buy them direct from Matias.

  • does ram change kill the warranty

  • No, It's completely supported by Alienware. They will not, however fix your 3rd party RAM for you. If using your stock RAM fixes whatever problems you may encounter, then you'll be on your own, but when encountering problems, replace the system RAM with the stock chips when attempting any warranty related action.

  • Thanks alot for this one ;)

  • coo, nice instructional vid. I didn't know you did any until now. :)

  • I didn't. :P

    More to come though.
