  • Games doesn't need to be 3D to be good.

Games doesn't need to have be released on 2012 to be good.

  • So catchy

It encourages you to take your decisions and begin the achievement of important sing.

But feel no pressure. The song says its gonna be a success.

    Just laucnh yourself.

  • "A hero with the Mana Sword *smashed* the Fortress." I never thought much about this line until Autarch of Flame brought it up, probably because I was young when I first played this game.

But now that I think of it, they could have meant that line literally. I mean, there are all sorts of damaged crystals and holes in the walls when you visit the fortress, right? It's funny, but now I'm picturing Serin literally smashing the walls of the fortress with his sword :P

  • Nice little Final Fantasy prelude theme mixed in.

  • I always named the sprite "fuckup" because he would constantly get stuck behind a crystal, or a tree, or a wall; it was especially bad in the mana fortress. I can't even remember how many hours I spent in here collecting all the hidden level 9 weapon orbs.

  • This is my favorite song, and also has my favorite remix of any game all time from Mcnoods at ocremix.org, you'll listen to this on repeat all day I guarantee.

    youtube.com /watch?v=nt-tiSxB6Xc

Also check out the remix official page @ ocremix p://ocremix.org/remix/OCR01116/

quality is better on the downloaded one.

  • Ha! I simply BET that Steve Harris plays the bass in this track...

  • i dont understand the title for this music/song....

  • @MayaCrystalwing430 you played the game? if didn't don't read *SPOILERS*

Randall, Purin and Popoie are on his way to finally defeat Thanatos, and attemping to save Dyluck, Purin's boyfriend, whose relationship is honoured in this theme, Purin is dying to see and save Dyluck, but she already knows there're more important things to do, such as saving the world from the menace of the Mana Fortress and Thanatos, the dark lich....so, she must leave her love feelings apart until they solve everything

  • @lightignakelloyd oh ok that makes since now... i didnt think of it that way.... i see what you mean, thanks!

  • I no longer own a SNES System but i still have my cartridge of this game, too bad the box / map booklet have been damaged or lost :(

  • This music is extremely epic! I used it as my Level 9 tune in my Zelda Classic Quests "Islands Of Death" and "Castles Of Peril". So AMAZINGLY EPIC I used it for BOTH of my Level 9s. XD

  • @PsychoBurgundy6

Ah ok then, well yeah go for the emulation option then, but i recommend zsnes because it seems to emulate SoM more accurately, especially when flying the world map with Flammy

  • @MaidenFan24568 sound quality is better on znes imo as well...and isn't that half the reason to play? :) Love this game.

  • @mog1255 there nothing like holding a snes controller and playing the real thing on you're 15 year old tube tv

  • @PsychoBurgundy6 IF you have a wii you can get it for Virtual console for 800 points (around $8).

  • How conclude a epic masterpiece with an last stage who has an epic music ;)

  • nice song

  • CHEST CHEST!!!! GEEEET IIITTTT CHESSTTTT AAAAAH AN ORRB!!!

    ##!@$#%! AAAAAHHHH WE FOUND ONE!!

  • somehow this sounds like green hill zone o.o

  • esa cancion e de mis favoritas

  • brilliant :D

  • Chrono trigger, Secret of mana, FF6, Super mario RPG.

    gotta be my fav's

  • screw FF 14, give us another mana game square enix! (a good one, not like dawn/children/heros, basically give us another one like SoM or SD3)

and whille you're at it give us another chrono game too!

  • *shudders* this music is some of the best I have ever heard in an RPG. One of the finest games I have ever played. If you have a Wii or can find the cart of this game GET IT! PLAY IT!! LOVE IT!!

  • Sweet memories. :(

  • Sorry ^^ I never played it, I don't know if Earthbound was released in europe.

  • Secret of Mana, Secret of Evermore, Terranigma, Lufia, Illusion of Time, Chrono Trigger...man, the SNES had the best rpg's of all time ;D

  • @Fr0zenNightmare upvoted, but you forgot Earthbound!

  • @Fr0zenNightmare exactly ;) but dont forget seiken densetsu 3 ;)

  • @Fr0zenNightmare i agree i guess you can say that the snes is truly the golden age of rpgs

  • i own one of the originals too ^_^

    Got plenty of other games other people wants to have (;

  • i own one of the origin SNES games :D i will never sell it

    love that epic sound

  • A race to save Flammie... we failed. Poor little guy. He deserved better.

  • Another song for my empire in Grepolis

grepolis.com - Epsilon server I've 31 cities in (Risk conquer game)

The Mana Fortress is the name of one of my cities. We fight as Open Source Government, 24/7 game.....This YouTube playlist option shall serve our empire well...

    Live for the swarm!

Love the maxed out super spells and lvl 9 weapon orbs in the fortress from random enemies!

Also amazing to have 3 people all playing the game at once.

  • Im thinking about writing a book about Mana, mostly with elements from Secret of Mana and also new stuff... This story is so cool and imagine there would be more story about the emperor, the heroes, the generals of Vandole and some new persons..

Its an advantage that the game is so old; i think kinda remake would do very well.. What do you think?

  • If only games today were like this and not about some random guy dropped in a boring drab battlefield with no music and you press buttons on people's heads over and over again. I mean, people do that for HOURS, and I can't understand why they think that's fun. The transition took full effect around the start of our current generation. Now people focus too much on the resolution and stuff rather than the passion and soul of the game. These are truly the dark ages of gaming...

  • @DarthYoda27 I actually read a pretty interesting segment in this month's Game Informer that listed the most interesting characters from some of todays games and then went to explain how they were different and how they affected their world. They were either much deeper then you thought or they were simply "different" from most characters in their genre. I wonder if you checked that out?

  • Man this music brings back so many memories seriously lol. I remember first playing this back in 93 when I was 12 with my little brother and sister. The winter area was the wildest, because it was during that blizzard of 93. I remember all of the trees were encased in ice and it reminded me so much of the area we were in on the game. This is really great music ^_^

  • Funny thing about the translation of this song's title -everyone who translates it has to make up a verb. The original Japanese is an incomplete phrase - 愛に時間を.

  • perfect fitting music for the last chapter of an epic game, followed by" Golden Sun - Venus Lighthouse" IMO ;)

i also like the music of the Mana Sanctuary / Mana Temple a lot

  • The best theme of teh world!!!! Fuck the new tracks with them new technologie!! 16 bit ftw !

  • i remember when i first stepped foot into the fortress..this awesome music was playing as i was getting anhialated by cute little mushrooms and strange looking duck creatures. fuckin good times i miss them.

  • yay in this fortress the terminators tried to punish you ! cool opponents :D

  • goosebumps....I have loved this game since I was a young lass.

  • o.O, this theme doesn't give me the expression of love at all ...

  • when i get to the mana fortress i reflect on the previous things i did before getting there. its pretty amazing once you think about it, how this game builds up to the mana fortress.

  • why can't they make something like this or chronotrigger anymore?

I mean those were greatn games! they had comedy, storyline. don't get me wrong. i mean, half life, left 4 dead, halo, and lots of select games are great too.

but some times i kinda wish that games were more reflective, like these games.

  • SPARKLES SPARKLES! EVASIVE MANEUVERS! THE BLEH BLEH BLEH ARE COMING!

  • This sounds a lot like an oldies song i heard on the radio today. does anyone know the name of that song? i sure as hell forgot.

  • A music that perfectly fit a final dungeon.

  • I just noticed, if Mana is hope and happiness and joy and stuff...why does the Mana Fortress look like a machine? I saw it in my head as a floating island with a huge castle on it (resembling Angel Island from Sonic 3 and Knuckles, but without the Master Emerald shrine and with a castle...it makes sense to me.)

  • @Oakscreator123

According to the story, the Mana Fortress was built by highly advanced humans centuries ago as a weapon. Given that it's a weapon built by an advanced race, it makes sense it would look like a giant machine.

  • @Oakscreator123 Now that I think about it (15 years later), there's sort of an environmental preservation message embedded in this game.

Humans harnessed the power of Mana to create their civilization, but took it too far, and with it wielded too much power, so the Gods struck them down. The Mana fortress was the final affront, a massive war machine created of a natural power. I mean, there are even subways in the depths of the Lost Continent, so I guess it's kind of an overt message.

  • @soulstodeny05

if you count 'gods' as 'nature.'

thats the prominent theme of all 'mana' games. The world's inhabitants use 'too much' mana and imbalance the world. The mana tree is the source of mana.

All the mana games hint at the idea that they are all from the same world that keeps getting reincarnated with the mana tree's life/death cycle. The world forgets everything from one cycle to the next.

  • Does anyone else enjoy the bagpipes at 0:35 and 0:42? You rarely hear that instrument in RPGs. Well in my experience at least...

  • @SMRPGFAN101 You don't have many experience so xD

  • Shoot! I forgot about the Dwarven caves in Final Fantasy 1. There's also the Dwarf village in this game.

  • Relm's theme has bagpipes too, no?

  • Dang! I forgot that one too! What's really embarrassing is that FFVI happens to be one of my favourite RPGs.

  • This song is almost saying, "This is the moment of truth. This is the moment of life or death." It's not even that complicated of a song. It's limited SNES sound quality and yet it beats most of the crap that we have today. However, some games nowadays have awesome music as well.

  • I think the name of this track is actually "Give love it's rightful time"

    Almost positive

  • Yeah, it's the other known translation. I've mentioned the alternative title in the description.

  • @Und1ne its*

  • @MoogledKupo

    Ty for the epic correction

  • @Und1ne the name of this track should be "god damned epic path to the final battle"

  • @Und1ne The actual title is 愛に時間を. You can translate that however you wish.

  • @ccjuju typed it in to google translate. got this: "Time Enough for Love: The Lives of Lazarus Long" lol :)

  • @Und1ne Literal, word-for-word translations from Japanese and other languages tend to not make any real grammatical sense and therefore their meanings need to be inferred and you can usually end up with several different translations.

  • @Und1ne The song's names usually are translated in many forms; it's, in first instance,a japanese name translated then to english and every translator has its own style. In many things, there are not official translations and in others, there are more than one only official name.

I've reached here thanks to this name, for example : ) (In Castlevania: SotN, their tracks have at least, 2 translations too).

  • Lol we beat the game in 4 days

  • "the final hour has come, this battle will decide your fates"..... this music really embodies that imo :) god i miss this game

  • Damn straight!

  • good to know that nobody can see my tears when i´m hearing the whole soundtrack x'D

whats the next level of epic??? XDDD IMBA-EPIC!!!11ELEVEN XDDD

  • Oh and you know, one of my favorite parts of this game was being able to do multi-player. There aren't enough RPGs like this, and today there's truly no excuse, since just about all consoles come with 4 controller ports. (Anyone remember using the Multi-Tap to be able to play this on the SNES? XD)

  • There's a remix of this song I really like, but the original is good too :)

This point of the game got irritating at points because of a dumb glitch.

My partners would be stuck in midair X(

  • "Gets pumped up" Gonna kick some ass!!

  • Some people think chrono trigger is the best game of all time... that might be right... but "I" personaly think secret of mana is unreachable it is the most epic adventure. I had never seen anything like it before and it was by far the longest and most adventuring game ive ever plaid. The ending was so sad, yet so wonderful.

  • yeah, i agree about the whole longest gamee thing, square makes quality games that you can't beat in 3 hours, it takes a while

  • everyone can make games that take you ages to beat. But making a long AND awsome game realy shows skill and leaves memories

  • Mana's hard to even judge, because apparently the US version wasn't even the full intended story, nor was it fully translated. It was scaled back to fit on a cartridge, and the translation was cut to make deadlines and some cutting was done for technical reasons (i.e. font fitting into the text boxes).

That being said, Mana's an amazing game, and I wonder how much more amazing it would be with a full/complete version.

  • there is just one way to find out... we have to learn japanese and get our hands on some originals

  • This must be a good song because I probably listened to this for around 100 hours, trying to get max equipment and weapon orbs in the dungeon, and I still enjoy it.

  • the best RPG game ever.....

  • I have a tendency to just pause my game in this area and listen to the song. I love it.

  • this song always let me know that the end of this legendary game was near ^^

  • I just LOVE the percussion in this game's soundtrack.

At this point, I was so absorbed in the game that I was one with the music

  • F'n epic!

Few RPGs have final dungeon music THIS awesome!

  • my fav song of the game. really gave me the feeling that i was on the path to save the world or something like that

  • man when i hear this song i can just feel myself slashing through monsters and hacking through those weird vines in that one room :D:D:D:D:D

  • When i entered the mana fortress for the first time, i was very surprised of the music. i expected some creepy evil stuff, but this one is beautiful. still one of my favourites!
