Think it's about time for another bailout... Perhaps rather than invest in suppressing battery technology, why not take that money and build a decent electric car? Would your oil lords be mad?
Letterman is a arrogant ass, and not funny at all unless you are drunk. I grew up with Johnny Carson, Letterman is a joke compared to Carson,so is Leno. They count on new blood watching them, people that were not around to see the very best.
. GM just need little time and support to make the Volt work.
GM just need $90000000000000000000000000 billions of dallor and to hire everyone in Haiti to be their Design / Engineer team and give them 99 years to prepare thats all.
GM just need a little bit of Money and little bit of Support and little bit of Time thats all !!
Will GM kill this electric car the same way they did with the EV1s in the 90s in S. California.
I didn't forget... Oil companies ran out and got patents to prevent NiMH batteries from being used in U.S. electric cars too.
GM could have been 10 years ahead of everyone else but... they burned themselves. Now they pay the price. To be a leader you have to be ahead of the competition.
I think a couple of disabled EV1s still exist in a museum somewhere. Not sure.
I was interested in the possibility of pre-wiring for 240 Volt charging. The problem is that NO ONE seems to know with any degree of reliability what size wire should be used for the Volt. 240 Volt circuits can probably use anything from 14 AWG to 6 AWG.
As many are probably aware there are at least a dozen styles of 240 Volt outlets. The particular type of outlet to use is not important at this point, what I am trying to figure out is the correct wire size (gage) to have installed.
yes.. lets debate on letterman..? ignoring a trend for 15 years is GM's own fault
The only reason its being made is because they have to, forced in it. They are lucky letterman had them on their show and lucky he didnt ask even more pointed questions. Want a good interview to watch? anything where the BBC interviews American auto makers in the last year or so, they dont pull any punches and dont eat the lies for breakfast.
Cadillac SUV "hybrid" still under 20 mpg i mean come on
I never could figure out why total strangers are often so rude to each other on alot of comment sections. How can one human being have so much animosity for someone he knows little or nothing about? ...Unbelievable. ...Anyway, with all the breakthroughs in battery technology like the semi recent ultracapacitor and efficiency gains in brushless motor technology, we have had the technology to build very good electric cars for a while now. Greed has been the biggest thing standing in the way.
Your welcome! It wasn't to poke anyone just the truth. If GM is going to survive it needs to stop to lie it's self. Blaming others won't fix things. they want help saying they are to big to fail."it's not good for America." Ask yourself is what GM has done for the last 15 years been good for America?
Somethings yes some no, look at the no and fix them start to brand GM as Americas car company, and most important show people Gm is willing to do what is GOOD for America first and it's self (profit, Greed) last.
then GM will rise again. Halt pay increases Stop all bonuses, stop all fancy plane rides and expensive dinners and function and make it public so people will know GM put people first. One fancy dinner for top ex can be one persons job for a year. Pay cut lean up fast and put what little money you have to build the future, not profit for today.
The bailout money that GM and Chrysler won't pay back should go to company like Telsa. A young and talent company instead the money are wasted on these two dinosaurs (GM and Chrysler) what a shame!
To KMPrenger83: Incorrect you are. Actually, you CAN go 100% all-electric all the time. There are many vehicles already doing that, including former gas models converted to run 100% all-electric, all the time. Do your homework. It took the PEOPLE as usual to stand up and say "I want electric" to get all-electric cars on the road after the EV1 crushing disaster years ago. Disgraceful. The EV population is growing every day. Check your facts before you type your ignorance.
Im familiar with the EV1. You are correct, in that you can have 100% electric vehicles, but what I meant was how feasible are these vehicles as a widely accepted automobile? Most of these vehicles are small (and ugly, but thats my opinion lol), costly, only run a few hundred miles per charge (some much less), take hours to charge, and even if America did have more electric charging stations (a rarity at the moment) would anyone be happy waiting even an hour to be able to get on the road again?
Look, I'm not against or dislike electric cars, I'm just stating some common traits about them. I agree American needs to begin weening itself off the big oil and small / hybrid / electric is one way to help do that. I think we should all hope the Volt is a success, rather than bash it.
Derogatory is what happened to the E.V.1. As a former owner, I wouldn't purchase another vehicle from GM if I was paid to. Derogatory is the fact that we've had the technology for a while now to build low-cost electric-only cars, and you're still touting a FUTURE car that runs about 40 miles on electricity, after which is still dependent on CO2-emitting fossil fuels. Derogatory is not a strong enough word for what the "Big 3" have done to us in this area. My money has proudly gone to Tesla.
The best thing that will come out of the Chevy Volt is the brave people who like to tinker......... Like the Toyota Prius, some will tear out the gas motor, and make it a full plug in electric!! Just search youtube for Prius no gas motor..... I'm sure the software hackers are already getting ready to bypass any software Chevy puts in to run checks for an ICE :-) I hope they Name it the GM EV2 LOL
People, do your research before you spit out an ignorant biased comment. This car runs first 40 miles on on electric only. After that, a small gas engine starts up to power the electric engine...not the wheels. So your still getting super MPGs. Prius uses gas and electric to power the wheels. This is the next step in the electric car evolution...we have to start somewhere. You just can't go all electric all the time at this point.
I don't know why it's so shocking that a company would be interested in being profitable - the workers who are employed there are likely glad. Also you all need to stop getting your information from comedians - people like Al Fraken, Dennis Miller and David lettterman are just for fun = you know, entertainment.
Ask them if their happy today! To much living for today and no planning for the future is why gm has failed. profit is good but greed is what has happened, and now gm has no future. You get what you give.
GM had their chance!! They blew it!!......they are not upfront about the Chevy Volt, it's nothing like the EV-1, call it what it really is... a Hybrid! Let the markets decide!
With regard to Letterman, who has not been funny or relevant in at least a decade, I quit watching his liberal show a long time ago.
.
With regard to the Volt. I drive almost 40 miles to work, 80 miles round trip. I know that you have a gas engine in the Volt, and I wish you would not call it a range extender...it is going to confuse purchasers and sales numbers are going to be negatively effected. Just say it is a hybrid, and has a gas engine as well as battery power.
It is a range extender because it does not have to be a gas engine. When the technology catches up they could use bio-diesel, hydrogen, solar or other forms of energy to recharge the battery. It is not a hybrid because the gas motor does not drive the wheels. It uses one source of propulsion and that is electric. Hybrids use two sources, gas driven and electric. That is what defines it as a hybrid.
Its not that difficult to grasp...first 40 miles are battery only...after that the small gas engine sends power ONLY to the electric motor so it can stay running. Even then your still getting super high MPGs
Electric vehicles are NOT going to work in any country in great numbers. There is NO country that has the infrastructure to charge all the batteries. The liberals and socialists do not like coal fired plants or nuclear plants and it takes around twenty years to build one given the lawsuits. What is going to happen is we are going to have to kill a few million liberals and socialists in order to modify the infrastructure in order to survive. I predict a civil war before anything major.
Thank you for your passion Dr. Dennis. The folks making comments here don't seem to understand that you are not a GM PR guy and are simply an extremely passionate and well-educated enthusiast. Its far too easy for those less in the know to simply post negative statements and GM is clearly an easy target. Thank you for taking high road and keep up the great work! I truly hope Letterman brings you onto the show!!!
Well, Red, Lyle here presents himself as if he was a GM PR spokesperson. It's easy to see how viewers might get confused, especially in light of the somewhat official looking channel name "GMVolt". If he was a hired PR man, this sobbing would surely land him out of a job. If GM was smart they would claim a trademark violation against this channel name and pull it off immediately. Their heads are too far up their own asses to see it or even care.
GM builds cars to provide 60,000 miles of transmission or engine life. It's common for every GM owner to have to replace their transmission Very shortly after the warranty is over.
Now you want me to buy or support your company after you have been designing death dates into every transmission for the last 50 years?
Your Profits are based on selling me as many $5000 trannies as you can in the cars 1st 10 years.
PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE = GENERAL MOTORS CARS AND TRUCKS
This is genuinely the worst PR I've ever seen in my life. David is entitled to his opinion and he's kind of right too... I wouldn't buy an over priced volt
Well, let's see. First GM produced a car that people wanted with the EV1. Then they refused to let early adopters buy out their leases and took them all back, forcibly if need be, and scrapped them all.
As a result of mounting pressure from competition posed by Tesla, in 2008 GM announced the 2010 Chevy Volt. In 2009 it became the 2011 Chevy Volt. In 2010, will it be the 2012 Chevy Volt? And so on, and so on, and so on?
We are SICK of the monopoly. Sick of being given just enough to pacify.
it annoys me they still call the chevy volt a electric car. While it is driven by an electric motor its charge isnt from batteries but low and behold, good old fashioned oil. Whats the point of an electric car that still requires you to fill up like petrol cars...oh wait the difference is the monopoly giant companies can have on our lives...assholes
Oh as added "Fuel to the Fire" as it were...Where are the GM Hydrogen Fuel Cell Cars? The main reason GM gave for the End of the EV1 Program. Still 30 years away?????? The EV1 was on the road, a proven platform!!!! Killed for smoke and mirrors!!!!!
GM wants to pull a magic trick here!!! Lets praise the fact they are walking backwards!!! GM should be LEADERS in clean green cars, however that tends to put their Big Oil Partners out of the picture. Thus Big Oil rattles the leash on the big 3 and they add a gas tank to an eletric car. North America is starting to wake up from it's snooze. I myself had no clue till Last Year that GM even had an all Electric Car.....and then KILLED it. Canada never had a shot to try the EV1
LOL PR FAIL!!! this got posted on digg, theyre really just making this worse than it already is, how long has it been were hearing about the volt?? what happened to the EV they destroyed haha funny how things change tho now that most people are going for imports anyway and they had no choice, oh well, im sure even they know by now its a sinking ship just look at hummer and pontiac, but whatever, GM SUCKS nothing new about that...
While the Volt will not be a cheap car...how can you compare it to the Tesla?? Its not designed to compete with the Telsa...plus the Tesla costs 100 grand! Lets see what kind've electric/hybrid GM could put out there for 100,000 dollars.
Didn't GM use the excuse the range was too short on the EV 1? Why take a step backwards in your technology?
I hope these comments show you how well your piece of shit company is going to do in the future.
This is where I want my federal money to go, an asshole watching late night and sitting outside in a suit making youtube fucking videos. Jesus I can't wait till your company is ended.
David Letterman is an American. Americans have the protection of free speech.
You admit yourself that the "range extender" uses gasoline, and since Letterman is talking about electric driving, you further his point.
Sure, a lot of people don't go more than 40 miles, but with gas tanks of over 250 miles, a lot of people still run out of fuel. So multiply that by over five, and you'll see why 40 miles is retarded.
The volt is a joke. You should be more upset that your career is based on that waste of material and money than you are that letterman mentioned truthful facts about your joke of an electric car. When you have a viable product come back and debate. By the way, it's not very impressive that you imply his intent with a tone that you inferred. Juvenile.
Chevy shot their own foot off not investing in new technology and not addressing what their customers wanted.
The EV-1 was scrapped because of pressure from people within GM were too heavily invested in the technology that it would have replaced in terms of consumable energy.
I won't shed a tear for American automakers... they want too much for their product and it's inferior to what other manufacturers produce.
Seriously, when did you Americans become such whiny pussies when it comes to business? The Japanese have handed you your heads in the auto industry, you owe China 3/4 of your country, the bankers have you all by the short and curlies, and you still think you should get up on the soap box and tell the rest of the world how much smarter you are than everyone else.
You and that other dork ZedAlfa273 need to STFU and put your money where your mouth is. Go out and buy some GM shares instead of whining about this POS Volt. Hey, the shares are sale! Only $1.79 ! Get 'em while they're hot!
No one wants to hear about your "range extended" (aka HYBRID) vehicle. In your terms, the prius would be called a damn "range extended" vehicle, just with a smaller battery... and even then the volt LOSES because the prius has been out for YEARS.
I played this video 3 times because I was trying to figure out what's going on in the background. Sounds like softball with an aluminum bat. That's a nice looking backyard too, lots of space. Uh, sorry, what's this video about?
"Range extender"? The rest of the world calls that a "Hybrid Vehicle". You're trying to compare the Volt to the Tesla, when it's not even a pure EV like the Tesla - and the Tesla STILL out performs the Volt!
No, I never said he did. _I_ was comparing it - and compared to the Tesla, it UTTERLY fails. But clearly if he's responding to the episode of Letterman that he is (which YOU clearly didn't watch), he is responding to Letterman's criticism of the Volt versus his praise of the Tesla.
So you absolutely proved my point. This video was created as a response to someone who gave the Volt shit for not performing as well as a Tesla. You can bitch all you want, but pound for pound, the Tesla out performs the Volt. So I'm not sure what difference your semantics makes.
No, this video was created as a response to someone who was misinformed, did'nt know what the hell they were talking about, and tried to compare the performance of two vehicles in which no comparison can be made becasue they are dissimilar.
You're still trying to compare apples & oranges and you don't see it.
Its like saying a formula 1 car out performs a Toyota Corolla...NO S H I T!!!
I'm not bitching at anything, I'm correcting you because you don't know what you're talking about.
Who gives a fuck if they're in different classes? If you're going to defend the Volt, and you can't defend it against other CARS (which the Volt is), then tough shit.
I like you ZedAlfa, you are a formidable adversary. :)
ZedAlfa273 I've noticed in a few of your other posts you've told people that "they don't know what they're talking about"
It seems perhaps we should all sit back and just listen to what you've got to say about this issue. We can't compare the Tesla to the Volt (I guess they're not both cars that run on electricity? fool!), Letterman is an idiot (with his own show, unlike Lyle), Lyle has no connection to GM (what a laugh that is!)
Stop making god damned excuses for yourselves. Get that damned car in the showrooms and let the sales do the talking. GM is going to go bankrupt very soon if it doesn't change its tune. QUIT SCREWING AROUND!
A sycophant (from the Greek συκοφάντης sykophántēs) is a servile person who, acting in his or her own self interest, attempts to win favor by flattering one or more influential persons, with an undertone that these actions are executed at the cost of his or her own personal pride, principles, and peer respect. Such a manner is called obsequiousness.
The point Letterman was trying to make was that the big automakers have had ample time to create an electric car that can destroy this little automaker. Even if GM started in the 70's during that gas crisis, they could have an all electric fleet that doesn't rely on gasoline at all. To praise themselves for having a car that does 40 electric miles is a joke.
I'd like to see our government stop saving GM with bailout money and give even just a portion of that money to Tesla.
WTF! do you live under GM's head quarters or something? seriously 40mp/Day????? i drive 50+ and so do probably 90% of the people who live in the suburbs and for me thats just TO work!
@leslieTS first forty on electric then it uses gas, you could charge at work as well and drive 80 on electric. The battery in the Volt only uses half of it's capability so the battery will last over ten years and still deliver 40 on a charge. Teslas doesn't and it will go bad quicker like a cell phones. You don't want to buy a new battery for these things. Also Tesla, 100 grand. Volt, 35 grand. GO VOLT I'm a toyota owner by the way. The Volt is good for America and good for the world.
Im with Chevy here. Regardless of the on-battery range. When the Tesla runs out of juice, you're not going anywhere. When the Volt runs out of juice you can switch over to gas and get home on it.
You could pile the family into a Volt and take a cross country road trip. You could only do that in a Tesla if your family is 2 people, and you only want to drive 240 miles a day.
Oh really? No connection to GM at all? Define connection? The guy puts out a video RESPONDING to a Letterman piece on the Tesla, a superior car to the Volt, and he has not "CONNECTION" to GM? You're damned right he has a connection.
And JRCrowley KNOWS WHAT HE'S TALKING ABOUT when he says GM sucks. Ain't hard to do. The company is about to go BANKRUPT! Wake up!
ZedAlfa273, Mr. guy that knows everything, let me tell you this now that I've got your attention:
If GM really cared about "helping reduce our dependence on foreign oil!!" they would have been making electric cars 20 YEARS AGO WHEN THEY HAD THE CHANCE to make something like that work. Because they've waited this long, long enough for all the fat cat GM execs to profit from cars that BURN GASOLINE, they don't stand a chance.
The Tesla WILL ALSO REDUCE OUR DEPENDENCE on oil, SO OPEN YOUR EYES.
This is so damn pathetic! I thought the Volt was pretty decent. Even after I heard Letterman. After this guys defense of the Volt... GM can fold up shop. Tesla will beat the shit this corporation. Tesla gets it! You Dont!!!
Think it's about time for another bailout... Perhaps rather than invest in suppressing battery technology, why not take that money and build a decent electric car? Would your oil lords be mad?

Why would I buy a Chevy? American cars/ automakers will never get my money.

This is genuinely the worst PR I've ever seen in my life. David is entitled to his opinion and he's kind of right too... I wouldn't buy an over priced volt
Mattyew 2 years ago
Well, let's see. First GM produced a car that people wanted with the EV1. Then they refused to let early adopters buy out their leases and took them all back, forcibly if need be, and scrapped them all.
As a result of mounting pressure from competition posed by Tesla, in 2008 GM announced the 2010 Chevy Volt. In 2009 it became the 2011 Chevy Volt. In 2010, will it be the 2012 Chevy Volt? And so on, and so on, and so on?
We are SICK of the monopoly. Sick of being given just enough to pacify.

Sick of the lies. Sick of your second rate products. Range extender? WHO CARES?? WE WANT TO GET AWAY FROM NORMALLY ASPIRATED ENGINES! PERIOD!!!
I stand solidly by my commentary on the Chevy Volt as well. /watch?v=6pFpMNuF44U

The monopoly is OVER! The game is ON! The people are making their choices based on fact, not your twisted propaganda.

it annoys me they still call the chevy volt a electric car. While it is driven by an electric motor its charge isnt from batteries but low and behold, good old fashioned oil. Whats the point of an electric car that still requires you to fill up like petrol cars...oh wait the difference is the monopoly giant companies can have on our lives...assholes
lynel1985 2 years ago 5
Oh as added "Fuel to the Fire" as it were...Where are the GM Hydrogen Fuel Cell Cars? The main reason GM gave for the End of the EV1 Program. Still 30 years away?????? The EV1 was on the road, a proven platform!!!! Killed for smoke and mirrors!!!!!
Greywolf1967 2 years ago
yeh well GM are like 30 years behind the 8 ball. We haven't seen jack shit of the Volt, its all talk.
When will we see them on the road??
shame on you GM. u have become so out of touch building bigger and bigger cars for the last 50 years.
get your act together or else the JAPS will clean u guys up for not having enough forsight

Greywolf1967 2 years ago
LOL PR FAIL!!! this got posted on digg, theyre really just making this worse than it already is, how long has it been were hearing about the volt?? what happened to the EV they destroyed haha funny how things change tho now that most people are going for imports anyway and they had no choice, oh well, im sure even they know by now its a sinking ship just look at hummer and pontiac, but whatever, GM SUCKS nothing new about that...

What the hell is this!? I mean come one, he's not going to ever talk to David Letterman in person.
And i agree, the volt is nothing compared to any car Tesla makes. And 40 miles isn't very much.
vinnyman999 2 years ago
While the Volt will not be a cheap car...how can you compare it to the Tesla?? Its not designed to compete with the Telsa...plus the Tesla costs 100 grand! Lets see what kind've electric/hybrid GM could put out there for 100,000 dollars.
KMPrenger83 2 years ago
Didn't GM use the excuse the range was too short on the EV 1? Why take a step backwards in your technology?
I hope these comments show you how well your piece of shit company is going to do in the future.

Stop crying.
ReddFoxx1562 2 years ago 2
The volt is a joke. You should be more upset that your career is based on that waste of material and money than you are that letterman mentioned truthful facts about your joke of an electric car. When you have a viable product come back and debate. By the way, it's not very impressive that you imply his intent with a tone that you inferred. Juvenile.
jofinger 2 years ago 2
Thanks for the idea of the VOLT! Sounds Great but i haven't seen any on the road.....
If you were actually going to come out with the VOLT I would be able to pre-order it.
Tesla is REAL and on the road..... The VOLT fake and a carrot on a stick.
During WW2 the automobile industry went from making car's to tanks in less then a few months.
WTF...... Now it takes Years to go from Gas to Electric.
I hope you go Bankrupt because the VOLT is FAKE.
cgrove225 2 years ago
so its got a gasoline engine also.... making it a hybrid... not electric...
Phatalic 2 years ago
Precisely Phatalic.
The Tesla is a Pure Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), the Volt, a Serial Plug-In Hybrid.
So it makes total sense that the Tesla will have a much greater battery range than the Volt.
However, the TOTAL range of the Volt far exceeds that of the Tesla.
A pure BEV cannot be your only car until a quick-charging (or swap-out) infrastructure is built.
That will take at least a decade for the U.S. The Volt can be your only vehicle from day one. It has "infrastructure included".
ZedAlfa273 2 years ago
Chevy shot their own foot off not investing in new technology and not addressing what their customers wanted.
The EV-1 was scrapped because of pressure from people within GM were too heavily invested in the technology that it would have replaced in terms of consumable energy.
I won't shed a tear for American automakers... they want too much for their product and it's inferior to what other manufacturers produce.

When someone says they have no connection to GM, it means no financial or political connection. JRCrowley, you sir are an idiot.

JRCrowley 2 years ago
I am in disbelief at the total number of negative comments on this video.
Plain & Simple:
-If you drive less than 40 miles a day you'll never need to buy gas.
-If you drive more than that, the Volt's internal combustion comes on & your mileage will be about 100 miles per gallon.
The 40 mile all electric range of the Volt was chosen because 80% of us drive less than 40 milea a day.
This vehicle REALLY WILL help reduce our dependence on foreign oil!!
My god people, OPEN YOUR EYES!!

Uh, sorry, what's this video about?
meshcount 2 years ago
"Range extender"? The rest of the world calls that a "Hybrid Vehicle". You're trying to compare the Volt to the Tesla, when it's not even a pure EV like the Tesla - and the Tesla STILL out performs the Volt!
314noceu 2 years ago 2
Nowhere in this vidoe does Lyle Dennis make even the slightest effort to compare the Volt to the Tesla.
Did you even watch the video 314noceu?
Your comment indicates that you did'nt.
ZedAlfa273 2 years ago
No, I never said he did. _I_ was comparing it - and compared to the Tesla, it UTTERLY fails. But clearly if he's responding to the episode of Letterman that he is (which YOU clearly didn't watch), he is responding to Letterman's criticism of the Volt versus his praise of the Tesla.
314noceu 2 years ago
You can't really compare the Volt to the Tesla.
The Tesla is a pure battery electric vehicle, whereas the Volt is a Serial Plug-In Hybrid.
The only thing you can compare the Tesla to is other pure battery electric vehicles.
The only thing you can compare the Volt to is other Serial Plug-In Hybrids.
It should be noted that the Prius is a PARALLEL HYBRID, whereas the Volt is a SERIAL HYBRID. Once again, no comparison of the two.
Also, Volt a Plug-In. Prius, no plug.
No comparison!!
ZedAlfa273 2 years ago 2
So you absolutely proved my point. This video was created as a response to someone who gave the Volt shit for not performing as well as a Tesla. You can bitch all you want, but pound for pound, the Tesla out performs the Volt. So I'm not sure what difference your semantics makes.
314noceu 2 years ago
No, this video was created as a response to someone who was misinformed, did'nt know what the hell they were talking about, and tried to compare the performance of two vehicles in which no comparison can be made becasue they are dissimilar.
You're still trying to compare apples & oranges and you don't see it.
Its like saying a formula 1 car out performs a Toyota Corolla...NO S H I T!!!
I'm not bitching at anything, I'm correcting you because you don't know what you're talking about.
ZedAlfa273 2 years ago
LOL. You're a pedant.
- They're both cars.
- They are both driven by people.
- One is better than the other.
Who gives a fuck if they're in different classes? If you're going to defend the Volt, and you can't defend it against other CARS (which the Volt is), then tough shit.
I like you ZedAlfa, you are a formidable adversary. :)
314noceu 2 years ago
ZedAlfa273 I've noticed in a few of your other posts you've told people that "they don't know what they're talking about"
It seems perhaps we should all sit back and just listen to what you've got to say about this issue. We can't compare the Tesla to the Volt (I guess they're not both cars that run on electricity? fool!), Letterman is an idiot (with his own show, unlike Lyle), Lyle has no connection to GM (what a laugh that is!)
JRCrowley 2 years ago
-Parallel Hybrid
-Parallel Plug-In Hybrid
-Serial Hybrid
-Serial Plug-In Hybrid
-Pure Battery Electric Vehicle
I'll tell you what JRCrowley, I'll shut up & sit back and listen to you explain the essential differences of these vehicles to me.
In doing so, you may learn that some comparisons between them are valid, some not.
A Diesel engine & gasoline engine are both internal combustion engines, try to tell me that they are both the same.
Sterling engines use gas/diesel, are they same also?

A sycophant (from the Greek συκοφάντης sykophántēs) is a servile person who, acting in his or her own self interest, attempts to win favor by flattering one or more influential persons, with an undertone that these actions are executed at the cost of his or her own personal pride, principles, and peer respect. Such a manner is called obsequiousness.
edknaves 2 years ago

I seriously hope Tesla burns GM
leslieTS 2 years ago 4
@leslieTS first forty on electric then it uses gas, you could charge at work as well and drive 80 on electric. The battery in the Volt only uses half of it's capability so the battery will last over ten years and still deliver 40 on a charge. Teslas doesn't and it will go bad quicker like a cell phones. You don't want to buy a new battery for these things. Also Tesla, 100 grand. Volt, 35 grand. GO VOLT I'm a toyota owner by the way. The Volt is good for America and good for the world.
JohnWingWing 1 year ago
Im with Chevy here. Regardless of the on-battery range. When the Tesla runs out of juice, you're not going anywhere. When the Volt runs out of juice you can switch over to gas and get home on it.
You could pile the family into a Volt and take a cross country road trip. You could only do that in a Tesla if your family is 2 people, and you only want to drive 240 miles a day.

THE END OF THE DRIVEWAY COMMENT WAS A JOKE.
Learn how to take a joke, Lyle. You should be used to it by now, working for GM.
JRCrowley 2 years ago 2
Lyle does'nt work for GM.
He has no connection to GM at all.
The reason why Lyle is the defacto spokesman for the Volt is because he started the most popular Volt website gm-volt d o t c o m
JRCrowley is yet another example of someone who has absolutely no idea what the hell they're talking about.
Open your dam eyes people, the Volt REALLY WILL help reduce our dependence on foreign oil!!!
ZedAlfa273 2 years ago
"He has no connection to GM at all."
Wake up!
JRCrowley 2 years ago
JRCrowley 2 years ago
This is so damn pathetic! I thought the Volt was pretty decent. Even after I heard Letterman. After this guys defense of the Volt... GM can fold up shop. Tesla will beat the shit this corporation. Tesla gets it! You Dont!!!
