The thing is, all you need is a decent projector /webcam to do this. That and some programming experience. Tracking / projector software is already out there and opensource. You could probably design the software yourself with minimum experience as a side project in 5 months.

I don't think it would really distract you from the game. When you're making or considering your shot, the balls won't be moving, so its pretty calm. It's only when you hit the balls that the real distracting stuff seems to happen, but by then you're just watching anyways. Pretty damn cool table. Way too expensive for a toy though.. might as well just buy a ZR1 Corvette.

Do you realize how disadvantageous it would be to have a screen surface as the pool table instead? The material would have to be durable (accidental cue strikes against table + constant friction of balls moving about) and still maintain the ability to display quality images. Not to mention it would have to conform to regulation standards (whatever they may be). Whereas with a projector setup, you have all the advantages of a regular table only with the added bonus of the projector.

Yeah, its really cool and all, but it sure as hell isn't worth 200k. I mean damn, some of the students where I go to school at do interactive projection games for their final projects, and they sure as hell didn't spend hardly any (if any at all) on them. Buy a table, buy a good projector, something to track objects in front of the canvas, learn some code, and you've got one you made yourself for considerably less.

It is 45K for the system, not 200. the pool table itself is 120K. it is made for people that already have the "lambo" as ovariesniper mentioned. the low res version is very inexpensive, this one uses a 7000 lumen HD projector.

i dont know of many students that are doing projects with Christie DHD 700's, unless they happen to like spending $22,000 on a projector. sounds like you go to a very wealthy school.

@patcon96 I wasn't saying that they were using ridiculously expensive projectors, they are using the ones the school already has set up in classrooms. I would guess those are around 2-4k. What I was getting at is that you can get a projector for cheap, like 500 for some models, and set it up to do something like this if you really wanted a cheapo version for yourself. If all you're showing are SFX, the resolution doesn't need to be all that great. And what pool table costs 120k, and why?!
