Saw J.B and the Fania-All Stars perform this CLASSIC in East Harlem, NY back in the late 70's LIVE!!! They straight ripped it up!! D@mn near had the crowd of Black & Latino's sayin' "Isaac who!!??...." Joe Bataan ruuuuuules!!!!!

This version is MURDER!!!! It's a shame I only have the 45, though. And, of course, Fania never told people what albums the songs came from on their 45s (most of them, anyway). I think this one was actually on Fania's subsidiary label, International, and on the short version, they cut to the Spanglish verse (and there was no whispering at the end)! GENIUS JOE BATAAN!!!
