This album - Invisible Mountain - is amazing. I wish his other albums sounded like this one. If you listen to "Impale Golden Horn," don't expect it to sound anything like this.
@bhperrin Well, Impale Golden Horn was recorded in 07 I think, and Forbidden Planet was made in 2010. The Gorgon Tongue was distributed through Relapse in 2011, and Invisible Mountain was also made in 2010. So I'm pretty sure but not 100% certain if they're gonna keep this sound, I hope they do too!
I almost picked this up today... but I bought a black anvil album and it was nothing like how you people at Relapse described it. So I didnt get this, and now I am regreting it, cuz this is fucking awsome.
@666slink relapse is one of the most versatile labels out there. they specialize in grind and death metal, but they've put out ambient stuff like zombi and subarachnoid space. they've released cds by punk bands like zeke and broken bones. and now they even have comedy cds released by brian posehn. relapse rules
@ReadSchopenhauer Indeed they have a diverse lineup of bands and they refuse to give into trends. It is sad how labels like Centruy Media and Victory are nothing more than signing what is the flavor of the month.
I don't hope the whole album is like this. Couldn't you give us a song that describes the album more.
And if this IS how the album sounds. I guess it's supposed to be some kinda trance-music, and I'm into that! I love music that gets you high. But it just wasn't what I was expecting.
ITS BLACK MELLOW, NOT BLACK METAL

Relapse is the worst at describing their bands..never trust the "if you like" thing on there..
dahleric74 1 year ago
bad bm vocals and a piss poor attempt at noise rock. yeah i'm a fucker but i'm not going to blow shit out of proportion either.

It's like Devil Sold His Soul meets Baroness... and rapes Earth?
(Not in a derogative term for any of the bands, I love all three).

I like this because it's not the usual stuff you guys put out. It kinda makes me think of doom jazz.

The distorted vocals kinda remind me of Angela Gossow from Arch Enemy. The song sounds cool, but it's kinda monotonous though.
