  • Ok. Final question. One of the Flat Idler Pulleys just to the left side of the center Blade Pulley looks to be bent down so that it spins on an angle. It isn't flat (and on the same rotational plane as the other pulleys). Is that the way it is supposed to be? Or is it bent? I don't have the money to take it in and was hoping you'd be able to help me a bit. Thanks so much. Again, the videos were fantastic!

  • @ablescott The mulch plug is Cub Cadet 731-3316. The belt is Cub Cadet 954-3098. The bearings are trickier because they used a conical bearing with seals and more complex placement. So unless your bearings make alot of noise I would suggest simply pumping grease into the spindles and leave it be. The pulley that is bent, yes mine had that issue, the bracket is the part that is actually bent so I suggest gently trying to straighten it.

  • Great video! Very helpful. Very. I have a 2001 Cub 3184 (Series 3000) with a mere 128 hours on it. The belt broke today and I'm having a heck of a time finding the right replacement. Unfortunately, my deck is a bit more complicated to remove. :-( I would like to do the bearings (like you did) while I have it apart. Do you know what I should buy? I can't find the all-in-one bearing like you used. I did find mulching blades, but would love help finding the mulch plug for my tractor as well.

  • @ablescott I am glad the video turned out good. also the best place to go is partstree. com. type in your model under the cub cadet section and it will bring up all the parts and breakdowns. This is the model I found, so please double check my parts numbers against your model, before buying anything. You could also buy a whole new spindle with new bearings part 918-3129C on ebay for about 40$ each.

  • Can i ask you how much you paid for it. I m looking at to buy one used. Its same year 2007 and lt1045 with 43 hours and no bagger. What would be the best price you think for it. Also i heard that belts break down easily and some problems with pulleys.

  • @desizz I got mine dirt cheap, although new this tractor would cost 1600$. Maybe a little less. I would say given your info, although it is low on hours, give it 800-900$. Mainly because the belt problem is a FACT not even arguable. When in lowest cutting height the belt slips, a newer belt works okay but after awhile it slips, I think cub should post a service bulletin for this problem. Also look at the Toro LX468, its the same exact machine.

  • @MultiKhaz Thanks for your help. So are still using this tractor. I know this tractor is hydro but would be good cutting on bit steep hill, roughly around 50 degrees.

  • @desizz I doubt it will go up a hill of this degree, unless you get wheelweights, because otherwise there is not enough weight, so the wheels slip. I have a small 50 degree hill in my lawn and I don't mow it with any tractors. I mow with a push mower but more often with a string trimmer. I strongly recommend you do not mow the hill with any tractor whether be a Cub, Toro etc.. It is simply dangerous, traction can be lost and the mower can tip over.
