What's a "collision"? I'm playing Titan Mode and upgrading everything I can get my blood-soaked hands on and am finding it really hard. Are "collisions" some tactic that can help me?
Collisions are self-explanatory: they occur when one enemy is knocked into another enemy. There are different types of collisions, some of them are more damaging than others. Collisions are inversely proportional to Kratos's armor. The higher the difficulty, the weaker the armor, the stronger the collisions. Hence, on higher difficulties - especially Titan - collisions are very damaging and they are a huge asset. Eg.Kicking hounds into other enemies is one of the most damaging things you can do.
Well after months of frustration, I just got past this bit using your tactics of fighting wave 2 from behind the gate, and using Hound kicks, and lots of Cronos Rage with BH + RotT. I never tried it with BH or that many hound kicks. Thanks a lot.
Yes! I had been stuck on this bit for many months and now I am up to the Outer Sanctum? Where you have all those enemies before big fat Clotho. I'll have to check out your vids for that bit; thanks for helping me enjoy this game again!
Do you even know what General Kratos stats are? Shitty stats is what makes it tough.
When you are a skilled player...who knows the things that can ease these difficulties..it can be easier then a Titan NUR+
Sub-weapons are great in this run type. ESPECIALLY Divine Retribution (BoO) and Piercing Shards (SoD). Grabs and Collisions are in top form. Bosses grant full refills of RotT/MP/HP. The "Gifts" can refill HP or MP fully. These are a few of the upsides for pros to use.
I know how to play this game, and I don't see what is the big deal with a GK NUR.
Its certainly not more difficult than regular NUR. BoO itself makes the run infinitely easier except in a few spots where it doesn't really do anything (i.e. here).
Even then, in those spots, the difficulty isn't that much greater since shinobier showed how you can beat the translator battle on an NUR without even using magic.
What do you know precisely about these things? I list the stats in other comments below (though I skip RotT for some reason). What do you know of how any of the things I listed above actually work? These are the things one needs to know.
Only those that understand those and/or have done a GK:TM:NUR to completion can understand what makes it challenging...they tend to be people who've already beaten a Titan NUR+ already. Not that hard for them. Use collisions and PS/DR.
You don't even need to do a TM NUR to know that those things work.
Throwing bad guys even in a regular NUR is pretty much the best way to win the game.
I'm not saying this wasn't hard. I mean, seriously, its an NUR on TM. I'm sure it was very difficult. My point from the start was that I didn't understand why GK NUR TM was being posted by people on youtube when you get BoO to use through the whole game. The regular NUR seems harder to me.
A misperception on your part. Easily done on the internet. I come off typically as detached/insensitive, rude/offensive/insulting or negatively in some other manner *mostly serious though even when clearly being absurd*
Technically speaking, you don't even need to play the game to know those things since I often drone on about such info to people whether they want to hear it or not. So there's that too. But to do it in practice requires at least Titan level skill to avoid heavy frustration
As for JUST knowing any of the things I mentioned..or things Shinobier has done (mostly acts of skill rather then good strat making/exploiting so it can be harder to learn from)...it's highly unlikely even a NUR veteran is going to know those things without doing a little looking around. Reading, watching videos, etc. I'm not the only one doing this sort of odd work..though I know of no others specifically working with damage values...plenty make sound battle plans for easy reproduction.
Most don't understand how collisions work. It's too broad in saying they are an obvious path to victory (and only viable through 'throws')...in a NUR. Consider that they don't have to be on Titan in the first place..or they are doing a NUR+. On settings beneath Titan..collisions can be overlooked in favor of spell/weapon damage pretty easily. On Titan..the power is so great that even WITH upgrades..it is a good option. (Ex: It would be a shitty plan of an GK:Mortal:NUR..especicially with RotT
As for why it would be getting so much attention. I for one, whore it and its challenge/merits. Its not only brought up as an alternative run type to the Titan NUR/NUR+..but as a way of giving a new play experience with focus on alternate tactics. With regeneration so low, you can't count on chests. With attack power so low, you need to focus on specials (DR/PS), grabs, spells, collsiions, etc. rather then just Hammering away (take it literally if you like)...often with RotT for lvlMAX power
Another perk (not so much for challenge BEYOND a Titan NUR+..but challenge similiar to it...for BONUS PLAY) is having all weapons/spells *despite being lvl1* for extra strat potential in combat prior to when one would otherwise have said 'tools'.
The challenge needs very little explaining. Please refer to the noted stat percentiles for specifics such as that your typical attacks will do a little over 1/4th damage seen in a Titan NUR+. Another reason to FOCUS on alternate means of victory.
It's about variety really. A different experience. Like a NRR, NCR, NUR/NUR+, 'PAIN' run, No damage, Speedrun, etc. This one highlights focus on specific attacks, taking less damage and spending RotT/MP more thoughtfully. In a Titan NUR+, it can be harder depending on conditions. Just having the BH and RotT often destroys said challenge. CR in combination with those two will help make a joke out of even Wave 3 Translator. Collisions are still powerful though not rediculous as in this run.
When collisions are taken out of the mix *most boss situations*, it is by default toughter if it takes longer.
Then you need to consider what weapons/spells are available for that fight. Considering that you have 200MP/HP in this run versus just 100 in a NUR+, you would think that would be a huge advantage. Often it can be if you save it all JUST for a boss (lesser fights can be made easier with them but don't give free refills).
Often newbies either think the BoO is shit or THE SHIT.
At first (like the SoD), I thought it was JUST SHIT. Faster then the Hammer but not as strong, strings poorly, bigger openings, HORRIBLE launcher *without "cycling" you cannot cancel it or any special*, only 1 good special (but hell..isn't that the case with all the subs anyway?), etc.
One could note that it doesn't good damage per swing. Kills with it (like Artemis) give a special (see: cool) animation for death of some foes along with a EXP bonus *not really needed very often in BP*.
It's first real selling point for a pro would be the cheap usage of Divine Retribution through barriers (up close)...or at range. Noticing it causes knockbacks/stuns is also good. Later finding out that the laser isn't effected by leveling it (nor RotT) yet is quite strong..gives it a NUR appeal that really can't be exploited outside Bonus Play. Knowing it ISN'T *again, the laser..not the physical hit itself* effected by Difficult or Costumes..makes it look stronger as Kratos appears weaker
Where long range DR whoring would seem sound on Titan with GK, it would be retarded on Easy with God Armor. Whereas an attack fully effected by difficulty and costume that otherwise isn't very good (Altering Slash; lvl3 SoD) would look amazing. *though perhaps one could try and use such an effect to cause collsions..that could prove tricky where applicable*
"Cycling" is new. *at least in this application; used for High Jumps previously* Canceling specials..superior bailing and whoring
I've done work with the weapon (not nearly as extensively as with the Spear) and have created a few strats on various run types. It has plenty of potential.
Just swinging it wildly (like an idiot) won't get you far. Especially not with GK on TM. Obviously one would then whore Divine Retribution (logical exploiting). It wouldn't hurt to have a plan of action beyond that as you can't always hope for that alone to just miracle you threw fights *often enough it is the DEAL BREAKER of the run*
Being up close and person makes it a better challenge..but if one still wants quality special exploiting in their arsenal..there is the SoD. My weapon of choice...and certainly one tied with the BoO for prowess in the GK:TM:NUR. DR is a VERY useful move for cheapening the difficulty. PS (though short-range) has unique factors to it allowing tricks DR cannot pull off. Even small things like it tilting the blast up/down depending on enemy position counts. I can use collisions on Theseus now.
However, just saying that the availability of the BoO makes the run easier then a Titan NUR/NUR+ by itself is taking it a tad far. Overestimating that weapon and the ability of the unfamiliar with it and those conditions. DR is very good here..but you need to first not suck with it and take loads of hits for less then effective uses of it. To use at close range, you need to be aware of other tricks or just be a natural like Shinobier.
If it is hampers the challenge so much, why not restrict the usage of it for yourself? I did just that because I was able to (despite not being a slouch even at that point) go through most of the run with little or no planning...just whoring DR at a distance. Not always since close encounters can be forced upon you...but most of the run allowed for such cheap tactics.
In my second GK:TM:NUR, I used the Hammer a lot..with RotT..in the third I began work with the SoD and found my stride in PS
A great set-up tool for air grabs, OH and alt.OH. All good for cheap kills and/or collsions. PS not only had that useful resistance to settings, it caused knockbacks/stuns rather easily and passed through barriers (another cheap collision set-up). Mastery of the set-up and exploiting. Ground PS being stationary and quickly refired certainly didn't hurt when abusing Sweet Spots.
In the end..the short answer is that the run plays out quite differently from a Titan NUR (especially NUR+).
Why should a Titan run be put up? It isn't as challenging as a NUR/NUR+. Why should a BP run with God Armor on Mortal get uploaded (fun runs)?
General Kratos alters the playing field..on Titan it is done in a significant way. You also have more options to begin with while still in a challenging run type..not as hard as NUR+ by many accounts..but with its own trials to best
With all that said, I trust you'll understand how the run type could deserve the limited attention it gets. Not so much as a superior to the Titan NUR+, but as an alternative with loads more options and adjusted stats that still offers a fair challenge above that of a regular Titan run.
A GK:TM:MAX run is basically a fun run despite the stats issue. You can still get killed in a hurry, but having leveled spells and abilities really dumbs things down. Even more options despite less challenge
All that without even considering Urn usage (not allowed by either run should any challenge be desired at all) which is there for any player. THAT would reduce the challenge to being no more difficult then Easy with God Armor.
~The idea of the run was to take the costume with the worst stats and use it in the highest difficulty setting. I had no idea that collisions worked as they do when I thought it up. Shinobier noticed it was stronger but I had to test for actual numbers and the cause
NOTE: I'm just justifying the run type's existance. Not saying it is inherently tougher then the NUR+ (on Titan). True, he covers the basics in the description. You can find the stats of the outfit pretty easily too. Difficult stats can be found in FAQs and the guide, but know this:
Titan Orb: 6.25% *apparently there are only 100 of what one could call points to the RotT bar so 1/4 is filled in GK:TM:NUR*
Being that stats for damage were clearly lower then 50% w/ GK on Titan, health was being lost quicker and regained slower then the typical Titan percentiles and magic/RotT comes back slower.
It was clear that there was interaction between the costumes and difficulty setting..costumes didn't simply override Titan's stats and these figures paint a fairly accurate picture as to what things are like in a GK:TM run.
~At least collisions are rediculously high.. though even that can work against us
Nope. Just been playing/observing carefully for a long while. It helps that I first tested damage values in AotF using Typhon's Bane and controlled conditions..it took a while to get things down to a careful/accurate science. After I had that info..plus the guide's info..I was able to test for misc.
Info like "Lethal Vortex" auto-breaking statues (no matter how high their HP) despite doing LESS then lethal damage..or RotT weakening collisions since they are connected to Kratos' Armor (lower=higher collisions) *lvl2 divides by 3.85*
~The GK:TM:NUR is my run type..and where I do most of my work aside from AotF
Wow, you made this stage looked so simple to clear! *_* very nice video. Again, the collision damage is so much. I am playing GK:TM:NUR too. Hope i won't have nightmare over this insane stage again. LOL.
LOL high production values as always. I see you did the jump-cancel after a roll too, nice.
Very well played on wave 3. Collisions are pure filth on a GK:TM:NUR. I found mine much easier than a TM:NUR+ solely because it pwns guardians with one kick. Natural spawns disappear so quickly. Great vid.
You should drop by the alternate TUGOWU board and see AKheon's GoW1 Glitch FAQ as it progresses. Also the PAIN+ (GoWII) and SoD FAQ (GK:TM:NUR strats right now) stuff.
Very nicely handled. Were you aware of the impending attack of the Priest? If so, RotT would have limited the damage his attack dealt *for future reference*
I recorded this vid before I had any idea that RotT helped protect the Translator, so I had to deal with the situation the ol' fashioned way (looks at Atlas Quake).
HA! HA! AQ fucked you over just like the rest of us I take it. Recall that I too had to suffer through such times..and worse..points where we really understood VERY LITTLE. Even collisions and alt.OH were shiny and new. We didn't understand RotT worth a shit back then...just sort of figured it made is stronger/less vulnerable to hits. Very basic stuff.

True, he covers the basics in the description. You can find the stats of the outfit pretty easily too. Difficult stats can be found in FAQs and the guide, but know this:
BigVEE 4 years ago
These two combine as such: Costume percentile divided by Difficulty percentile then 'percent' the problem for new percentiles
Attack: 37.5% *your damage is almost divided by 4..in a NUR version you can expect 1/8 your normal power in attacks*
Armor: 25% *you take 4x more damage*
BigVEE 4 years ago
Health Orb: 6.25% *It would take 8 Health Chests to fully refill your health or magic*
Magic Orb: 6.25% *luckily magic isn't effected by costumes/difficulty/RotT in terms of effectiveness*
NOTE: Instead of being worth 100, chests are worth 25MP/HP
EXP Orb: 375% *doesn't matter much in a NUR does it?*
BigVEE 4 years ago
Titan Orb: 6.25% *apparently there are only 100 of what one could call points to the RotT bar so 1/4 is filled in GK:TM:NUR*

Need a link?

IS THIS NUR? where you found blase of olympus??

It's a GK:TM:NUR, so it's a bonus play run, which is why I have the Blade of Olympus.
