  • These guys are right - this has a bunch of mistakes and sounds lame.

  • While Watthiman has a rough way of saying it, what he/she speaks is the truth. You are playing the intro incorrectly. You have a good sense of rhythm, but this is not done correctly. He/she even broke down the correct notes for you. It is not pulled off until it is repeated a third time. The fourth time is picked as well. Be sure and pick those notes, guy.

Keep practicing. You are well on your way.

  • that was pretty cool mate, i give you a 5/5 i cant get this song down for nothing

  • COOL

  • i agree they shud move this arguement somewhere else mpesta

  • Guys, can you move this banter somewhere else? I'd appreciate it.

    Thanks

  • Congratulations on your vast musical knowledge, Music is what it is. It is only humans (mostly non musicians) who insist on dissected it into notes scales and theories.

So, to answer your question, I no not know what chord can be used over the phyrgian dorian and pentatonic scales and most importantly, I couldn't possibly care less.

  • you should. Education is a door to vast posibilties. most of whan van halen was simple pentatonic runs...some harmonic minor stuff, but not as much as randy rhoads. I find, and this is the reason I DO NOT want to play in bands anymore unless there christian, most musicans over antilize things. Being a critic to YOUR SELF is nessesary for maxium growth. not other people..ex: me studying for my collage exams today, i have been studying for 3 days for this test...i am VERRY critical of my self

  • this being said you should be more critical of your actions not his. you are the only responsible for yourself/ not responsible for this guy/. Leave him be.

Just listen enjoy him if possible and go about yoru way...now if it were deathly out of tune or 99% wrong I would understand...but if i close my eyes, and I have verry verry good ears...I do not hear that much a difference.

    ;)

  • You are a walking contradiction. You say "Education is a door to vast posibilties" and than suggest I should let him play the wrong notes in the word sequence. Do you even grasp the contradiction?

I also doubt your education as your spelling and grammar are atrocious.

  • dought my education...then what exactly do you think? I am just some ignorant ass hole who does not know a damn thing....my spelling sucks true..i have never had good grammer..we all have our flaws...But dont be a fool and think I am not educated....I do go to college and have a good gpa.

  • If you posted for honest FB, then you should no that you've got a ways to go. The opening riff is not played with hammer ons, you have to pick each note individuality to get the phrasing and feel right. Also the opening riff is missing the F# and G notes played on the low E string .. like this, Banana na na F# na na G na na banana na na and as TatsDragon7 said, it's just bar chords not major thirds when you play the C,C#,D.

    In addition you have the notes wrong. Its not D, E, D, F#. It's D,E F F#

  • Watthiman and TatsDragon7,

I really appreciate your feedback and agree with your suggestions. I should redo this clip or maybe even take it down so others don't copy it. The only reason I don't is that your information would help people to get to the right thing.

Thanks again guys, I appreciate your expertise.

  • You're correct, Why in the world should he learn to play it correctly? Let's treat him like an infant , and tell him he plays it perfectly! ... LOL! You idiot!

  • No, The notes are not correct and are not played in the correct sequence.

  • @Watthiman man just fukk the shut up will ya goofball, this guys plays it fine and unlike you he actually post his playing<where are you guitar playing videos loser?

  • It's close......watching several versions played by EVH himself, he doesn't play major thirds for C - C# - D. The answer back bass part does but the guitar is all power chords.

The first four notes don't sound right either.

  • first 4 notes are wrong, it's all picked back and forth and notes 2 3 and 4 are chromatic.

  • Thanks for your comments. I start the chromatic part the 3rd time through like Eddie does. Take a listen.

  • you got it man. Keep up the good work.

  • What are the first 4 notes, I still can't tell ?

  • D, E, D, F#.

Play it on the 4th string (D) open, 2nd, open, 4th then right into the A Maj chord.

    Hope this helps,

    Mike
