This Spamalot is lame. It's watered down Python. It's not the same without the original gang. Python doesn't translate well on Broadway. What a sham..
@acrovader what about a uk tour i love every year they change it-just small bit as in this year one dressed up in drag and starts singing 'i dreamed a dream'
Lol when we did this play. the guy playing Lancalot actully BROKE the shovel over the dead guy's head, then we had 2 fix it so he could do it again at the end of the finale. Great show 2 do
Don't understand why when the line " we will all be shot by Michael Wall" got so much laughs, but I laughed along. Can anyone tell me why that was funny to the audience?
Please know I love this Musical and can't wait to see it in April.
Oh my goodness! I just saw this show a couple days ago, and I must say this number is so. freaking. hilarious! I couldn't believe it when the corpses started singing, I laughed so hard. hahaha ><
Oh my goodness! I just saw this show a couple days ago, and I must say this number is so. freaking. hilarious! I couldn't believe it when the corpses started singing, I laughed so hard. hahaha ><
I love the OBC (and have this recording myself), but I was wondering if anyone had any other recordings with different casts (specifically Alan Tudyk as Lance or Clay Aiken as Robin)? Thanks!
I think they had a couple of near break ups in this production. Tim Curry almost looses it when he says to Christopher Sieber, "look you slimy bastard." Also, after David Hyde Pierce sings his big song and goes over to Tim Curry, David doesn't talk to him right away because he is trying to catch his breath from just singing the song and you can see Tim Curry smiling a little.
@cmt39 They actually broke when there was the part with "searching for jews" and the guy picked from the audience, who found the chalice under his chair, turned out accidentally to be of jewish origin (Goldberg or something). Tim Curry was cracking up then.
It's so Python! I never saw it onstage, wish I had - but I think any musical based on such a cult classic has the potential to be a complete failure: trying so hard to be the original that it just flops. This is absolutely, head-to-toe Python, and it's perfect.
@ethalinia don't worry when i saw it this year in southhampton the guy who played arthur couldn't stop luaghing when te knights of ni change their name to (all the usual stuff) then he started to sing a random song. and at the end when someone from the audience comes onto the stage his name was arthur, and dressed as a knight!
I saw the Music Circus version of this last night. It was in the round which i think was really good for this show actually. This scene was amazing! Even better than the scene in the movie.

@ClassicsWEREandARE Yep, DHP was in the original Broadway production along with Sara Ramirez, Tim Curry, Hank Azaria, Christopher Sieber and Christian Borle. Best Cast Ever! The full OBC show is on here if you look for it. Well worth it!
