@dq9677 There are quite a few companies that already do that...AKG, Audio Technica, Sennheiser,Dennon, I could go on but all of those companies have great looking headphones with better sound than V-Moda, Monster and Skullcandy.
@mrrsbots Yes, but those companies' wares are tailored towards audiophiles, with a price tag to match. They're generally harder to drive, and could really benefit from a hi-fi source. Your average consumer won't know the difference between MP3 and FLAC. Plus, the audiophile cans look more professional, while Monsters and Skullcandies have that "street" look and wow factor to them. It's nice to have good sounding cans that are public friendly.
@dq9677 :/ Then dont expect audiophile-quality sound if your not willing to take the extra steps getting a high quality amp, high quality music etc. I understand your point though, and I respect that some people want something just a bit better than their apple earbuds or what have you.
@playernumber2001 The beats stuff reaaaaalllyyy aren't that great. Go check out head-fi, you can get stuff that sounds better than beats studio for MUCH less than the price of beats studio...
@playernumber2001 V-Moda Crossfade M80, $200, have better sound quality than the Studios, still look good, able to order customized metal ear plates, better warranty, better build quality, better customer service; I think that can beat the Beats any time of the day.
@alannassir Well, if you pay $1000 for headphones, you generally have already invested lots of money into source, amplification, media to play on the source, digital to analog converters, etc. etc. etc. Every link in the chain, you know?
@alannassir In 6 months your computer will no longer be state of the art, in two years it'll be oudated and in 4 years it'll be a slow piece of ..... A great pair of headphones will play music so much better than you've ever heard, and it'll do it for many many years without the sound degrading.
@alannassir and some headphone enthusiast would say the same about a computer. If you think $1000 is a lot I heard of headphones that were just under $30,000 plus you would probably need a source, amp, and probably a dac .
@12012channel yea once for only 5 mins which felt like 2 seconds. I got it on the spot not expecting to be testing them so I got classical music with it. I lean towards electronic music but with those headphones, I would listen to classical all the time with it. I couldn't try my own music or move the headphones because they were plugged in their custom amps so nothing I had could even close to properly driving them (solid state at that time). For the next few days, the HD-800 just didn't do it.
@TheMichaelRN The type of person that attaches $1000 of amps and D/A converters, recables the 1k headphones, and straps all of this to an ipod. Oh, wait you wanted sane.
@TheMichaelRN How about being less ignorant? Number one, you've never heard 1k $ headphones so you could not know what its all about, and number two, some people can afford 1k $ headphones and enjoy the best sound they can get.
What you asked is like asking: "which sane person would buy a 2k $ 52 inch full HD TV?" Right? I mean, you can get a 50 dollar used 32 inch CRT from 1998, and it will give you a picture. Right?
@derbigpr500 Good CRTs look better than LCDs. Don't quite have the experience with plasma, but LCDs are meh. Form factor pushed people to thinner screens, not image quality.
Head-fiers are insane, Jude being Lord Crazy over there. So no, no one sane hooks up 2000 in head gear to an iPod in the first place. Or did you come here from Head-fi too?
@aeriescannonfodder Good LCD's and plasma's look better than best CRT's, but this is about headphones. And obviously you're too ignorant to talk to. Why did you come here to talk about something you have absolutely no clue about, and have absolutely no experience with...plus, you think people who have a clue about it and have experience with, are all crazy...sounds like you're 12 years old to me and have nothing better to do but talk crap on the internet.
@aeriescannonfodder And I never understood people who talk down on things they know nothing about...takes some serious stupidity. I bet you never heard how 1k$ headphones sound, but you know you hate them and you know people who have them are all crazy.
@derbigpr500 Well, actually, I had an impression the the T1 but preferred the HD800, so no I have, and I'm not that desperate for performance increases. Don't go to meets, and I don't have any orthos under my belt, so sorry if I came across as a n00b.
@derbigpr500 I don't hate expensive stuff. I just can't justify it, for dynamics. I want to try the HE-500 and LCD-2, since a used pair won't shatter my wallet to bits, and because it would hopefully be easier to find a better amp pairing with the cans.
@Beta3blog Maybe, but when i talk on skype a see clearly. btw 1000$ for headphones. For that much i would pay 1000 Chinese kids to scream in my ear (now that is what you call headphones 1000 in 1) :D
I'm liking the direction V-Moda, Monster, and Skullcandy are going, making good looking cans that actually SOUND good.

Best headphones under $100. Brainwavz HM3. $75. Came out late Nov-Dec.

@CamBlogs Totally agreed. I've got some Brainwavz M2 and they sound better than some $100+ Sennheiser HD 2xx that are for test in some Apple stores.
