free press in America? you must be kidding. It's owned by a small elite who also own the tv and pretty much everything else.
I remember Art Garfunkel talking on Irish radio during a trip here a few years ago. He said one of the big differences between the US and Europe was the press - he said in Europe we get different views in the media whereas in the US there is really only one view.
The US sounds more like the USSR use to be with Patriot laws etc.
there have been some alternate issues with watching videos across seas as well with youtube. I have no idea what the blockade is, but It makes me want to do some research.
it might be something the BBC felt they needed to do, I saw on the news that the Afghan government had forbidden reporting of any violence on election day, if that's what the video was about, the BBC may have disabled it for fear of having their credentials to report from Afghanistan yanked.
I do not know but speculate that this might have something to do with that.
well, are there BBC news stories with profanity in it? :)
(obviously the real profanity is the killing and violence you gets plenty of on the telly)
no, youtube is just bowing heads before their corporate overlords. Just last week was a story in the WSJ that Time Warner finally wants to start making profit off youtube, they'll censor anything if it helps them avoid legal expenses.
I've had this happen to me quite a few times... and my guess is that the video has been flagged - and they won't allow it on our channel feature because that would bypass the age verification button.
Yup, had same thing happen.. it was a news feature, that had been uploaded by a YT friend (whose vids i have featured before with no probs) - the entire footage of what Bowe.R. Bergdahl had to say while being filmed by the Taliban, including all the more critical things about his thoughts on their being in Afghanistan.
... it initially allowed me to feature it... and then a couple of hrs later it had the age/ location message up.
I can still view the vid on her channel, just can't feature it!
youtube has been fucking around w who can see what in what country since google bought it. it changes and is too infrequent for me to get clear pattern.
this comment makes me think we should set up a site for when this shit happens...so ppl can say "i cant see this particular vid" it could then be ripped and sent or simply described. we could use net forum to get around the censorship?
It talked about the increase in violence leading up to this weekend's election and specifically the take over of a bank in Kabul.
It also, and this is the potentially significant part, had an interview with a former Taliban Prime Minister who's name escapes me who said that the violence would continue as long as foreign troops were there and they would help the US/NATO come to an "honorable exit" contingent upon a full withdrawal of forces.
The bbcworldnews channel is no longer available here in Illinois, and the link you provided is labeled as "private".
It appears that yootoob is stepping up its abhorrent censoring campaign. Is this an attempt to keep Americans ignorant of world affairs??
One can only speculate as to whether this is just a "glitch", or part of some nefarious plan, but I have seen other news channels disappearing from yootoob recently. Only time will tell...or not.
wouldn't be the first time something got yanked because it showed someone in an unfavorable light - there were a couple videos on the Israeli Gaza conflict that disappeared pretty damn fast..
It is not a glitch. It is all about the UK license fee. I concur with WU; if you are able to watch such videos then it is usually an accident. A lot of people use proxies to get around such things.
it's a total mess - even the BBC is confused about what should be available online and what shouldn't. their own website is just as bad - sometimes content is restricted, sometimes not. (i am in ireland btw)
the internet was supposed to be a global network with everyone having equal access to content. things were never meant to turn out this way. now i can't even watch vids on the pennsays channel because of this type of nonsense! =(
I watched it earlier with no problems. Sometimes I'll click on a BBC video (from one of their channels or another) and it'll say the video is private...
YT is glitchy all over right now. Messages aren't updating, half of my subscriptions aren't showing up unless I go directly to the channel...etc.

There is also a copyright storm brewing.

Yes. I had a DMCA takedown notice over a video.
I had my share of misfortunes of YouTube. I mean I can't say I am fairly disappointed with the direction of YouTube, but it's getting there.
Thanks Erin.

No, you probably got blocked due to the age restriction because you look so incredibly youthful!

i forgot to mention in my previous post - this age and location restriction will also come up if the person has selected to not allow embedding.

Do we only get a taste of the worm when some other country experiences major losses as a result of American stupidity?
Gosh! :-D

It's international copyright stuff...Or at least that's what I've been told when I've gone apoplectic about this in the past.

lol "satellite vid viewing" as in, you cant send info over horizon, you hafta bounce it off a satellite. i am tired. plz disregard rambling.

@ achampag That's not a bad idea. I vaguely recall some sites trying to independently archive all yt content but that might have been pre-google.

Also: When I clicked on your video my phone rang with a solicitation call that was seeded by my click.
Clearly electronic sedition.

sound slike a glitch...on the substantive question the right of a "free press" does not extend to publish news on a commercially owned website.

can you please name the YT channel and the name of the vid so i/we can check it out.
thanks

I can't watch Penn Jillette's channel Pennsays because "This video is not available in your country due to copyright restrictions."
This happened all of a sudden several months ago, so I just unsubbed. It's also quite common for music videos to be unavailable.
It's pretty frustrating, because you can see the video advertised and there's no warning until you click on it.
