  • I saw Bad Co in 1990 the day after Stevie Ray Vaughan died. Halfway through the drummer said he wanted to come up front and play a song. He came and sat down at the front with his feet dangling off. He said he wanted to dedicate this song(shooting star) to Stevie and he replaced "Johnny" with "Stevie" in the song. The crowd sang along and there was a sea of lighters. Not a dry eye in the house. When you hit the "Big Time" and you still show class like this you become a Superstar. Bad Co Rocks.

  • Have to say, Paul Rodgers will always be awesome, I just wish he sang his songs straight sometimes. He gets too frilly and showy with arpeggiated vocals when straight with subtle vibrato sounds better. They always say 'the old version's the best!' Don't they?

  • Had never heard the song like this, Paul Rodgers kicks ass!!!! What a talent!!!

  • Never heard it like this, Paul Rodgers kicks ass!!!

  • Paul Rodgers is a legend, no doubt..Should be in the R & R Hall of Fame..

  • it is time to call chuck norris into this matter..... honestly people we all have to ask what would chuck norris do in this situation.......... please everybody... enough

  • THE one and oONLY voice... Paul Rodgers.....

  • Great song and killer version.

  • My band is working on this song i love freaking Rogers ability on guitar dudes a beast!!

  • Brilliant end of story

  • Dude how can you compare Paul Rodgers to Freddie , Paul Rodgers is a legend , Paul Rodgers is older then Freddie was when he died playing at a higher level then he did when he started at his advanced age hes like fine whine... Theres no way in living fuck Freddie woulda improved with his health problems and habbits... So shut the fuck up and move on with your pathetic lives...

  • @tomcardello This song was written a year before Kossoff died. it's not written about any specific person , just all the casualties like Hendrix, Joplin , Morrison etc.

  • if johnny was shooting star then paul rodgers is a comet he hasnt burned out yet

  • great song i just prefer the slower pace.this is just a bit faster then the original which was perfect

  • hendrix or kossoff or a hundred others take your pick ^ ^

  • I fucking LIKE

  • My brother shooting star, lol on sons account. He loves hearing bot his uncle. Wonderful man, died from alcohol. After dad suicide, I'm dyining. Shooting stars we all are burn it out

  • To romavictora: Thank you for demonstrating to everyone what an idiot you really are. If you were truly a fan and followed Paul from early Free to Bad Co. to the present day you would know that "The Squint" is just that...a squint. He's always done it, always will. It's just Paul.

  • Love, love, love this man. The most sexy, soulful voice I've ever heard. When my workday becomes too stressful I retreat to my corner and turn on Free or Bad Co. Immediately my stress eases. Don't feel so much like it's me against the machine.

  • What a song and What a Band ,,,, Old Rock

  • This song reminds me of Jimi hendrixs' life.

  • Effortless greatness!!

  • I was a Sophmore in High school.....

  • What a great song! For all my friends that have Passed-On this Songs is for them, My God rest there Souls. . . Thanks for the song. . .

  • I remember the first time I heard this song, I was in the Navy at Whidbey Island, far from home and far from my old friends. I always think back to those days when I hear this song...

  • Paul rocks! I think this guitar player is unique and sounds great. Paul knows his music and I like his vocals on this night. He changed the arrangement but I like it.

  • awesome..

  • not really typical P.R., but I like it

  • all mothafuckars Paul is a living legend, why are you saying bullshit about him, rock legend just like Freddie was!!!!

  • Paul Rodgers is on another level from Freddie. Sorry freddie could do we are the champions , and a few other songs his voice was not suited for rock songs. They had to be low key songs. Paul Rodgers can do both , and hes past 50 doing it still at the same high level... Only person who can say that is Bob Seger thats saying alot...

  • Why..or how could anyone badmouth Paul? Cracks me up..you should really think about what you;re doing..ya know..don't flush the stool while Mom is taking a shower upstairs..LOL. It's so easy to sit behind your keyboard with your hand on your tool and badmouth..it's what makes the internet a bad thing. You'll get your ass kicked in real life..LOL

  • yeaaaaahh!!!! paul with HAIR!!! lol!

  • Paul Rogers is the voice of the rock era that moves beyond one band. Free, Bad Co, The Firm, . He even sang with Queen. Four major bands , one voice, different eras, a major talent in the last years of guitar rock.

  • the best band in the world, anyone that does not like it fuck them we chunky fa ek in scotland, go on bad co

  • One of the BEST Rock and Roll voices ever.. Other would be Roger Daultry the Who

  • Good Stuff!

  • this song touched my heart!!!

  • I love this version. I play it like this. smooth and groovy

  • Finalmente:

    (In English:

Finally: I hope u don't want to answer again, because anyone who knows about music knows that this is a great song, first because of the voice, the environment, the lyrics and finally the sounds which don't go to your stupid ears).

Que tengas un buen dia =)

    Have a nice day =)

  • SI

    YES

  • Before that answer goes this one:

Your post says: "¿that we don't know about music? jajaja....."

  • In english:" Anyone who knows about music appreciate this song. Paul Rodgers has an amazing voice, but maybe u don't understand about this because u don't understand music. u just listen to it because u are a poser, and I insist, LEARN HOW TO APPRECIATE MUSIC... MUSIC IS ART, NOT ONLY SIMPLE SOUNDS WHICH GO TO YOUR EARS!.

I want to translate these posts for everyone to understand.

Osezbi2006 and VIKTOKO68 said Paul Rodgers is a M***er Fu**er, and that he has no quit Queen because he su**s.. I told them this:

"I can see u have no idea about music, or maybe u are all posers. Music is not only a matter of listening to. it needs to be understood, felt. Music is a language I think u don't understand. When u know that music is about, post something"

  • I really liked this stripped down version.

    Very Good!

  • not the best version eh'....

  • That's a matter of opinion romavictora. I think this is a great version. The vocals aren't drowned out by drums and a large band setup, and Paul's casual way of singing allows you to really hear why he's regarded as an amazing singer.

  • Yeah well , he sounds alot better when he's not DRUNK !! have you watched him READ what he has to sing with Queen? I think all the older British guys had one too many ....of something...He's great , but no Freddie Mercury!!

  • dont know where you get the idea from that he drinks, if you know anything about paul rodgers you would know he doesnt drink, doesnt smoke and no drugs!!!! the talent is all god given natural stuff....nuff said

  • his voice was shot that nite....and being a stoner myself...that squinting he does...well most stoners do that...oh yeah he lives in Canada and doesn't puff...yeah ok.. and his voice has gotten alot better ...since than...he does a great job on Queen songs...other than forgetting the lyrics...

  • His voice was spot on this night. All your comments on this video are BS. Go watch a Freddie Mercury video and leave PR fans alone.

  • He lives in London btw. And if you listened to the song moron you'd know he was a alcholic..

  • why all the negative comments romavictora??? his voice doesnt sound shot to me, and he doesnt look "stoned" either, you dont have to like everyone but if you dont like pr why watch this???

  • @romavictora his voice didnt sound shot to me you fuckin arseole.

  • That is right about Paul. He is clean as a whistle. The voice gods gave him a dynamic voicethe day he was born. God Bless Him...He sings so effortlessly..

  • I saw paul and Bad Co in 1977 and 2007 they still sound great as ever after 30yrs. There music never gets old. Paul has one of the best voices in rock. If you ever get a chance to see him you will be a Paul Rogers fan. Shootin star was 1975. Yes I have stright shooter in my closet.

  • I just got the new Queen+Paul Rodgers CD and I've heard very little Paul Rodgers song but you can tell the offspring of whats left of Queen and Paul Rodgers is a neccessity in our post 9/11 world indeed. :)

  • I think Melloncamp borrowed from this for Jack and Dianne.

    Paul Rodgers is great!

  • Well I'm 46 and I remember this song from 1977 or 1978 from the radio. I do not recall it being mass media earlier than that. What can I say. Old age must be kicking in. what an excellent song.

  • that i want

  • This version is groovy and beautiful.

  • im in love with this song man!

  • what a voice theres no one like him

  • Amen to that!! LOVE him.

  • MY 2nd favorite song!

  • a simple, intense version of an already intense, simple song. i needed this today.

  • cool stuff..!!

  • Iam 25 and my dad played Bad Company records all through my youth and i love paul rodgers and bad company and free! i cant get enough!

  • I've got the same story, except that I'm 42. And it was my hard rockin' mom (she also rode a trike) that brought me up with this music! I love it!!

  • You're only a year younger than I. I taught my mother how to appreciate Bad Company, Zeppelin, The Who, etc.She was a motown type. She took me to see Bo Diddley, The Platters, Temptations, Chuck Berry and all the greats from the 50's. We used to crank our 8-track tape players while playing frisbee. How is it I grew up in the 70's and you didn't?

  • Bad Co. were geniuses, and I don't use that word frivilously, at taking the simple good ol' rock n roll style and making it so feeling and soulful. Full of emotion from beauty, to anger to lust, greed, envy, and other deadly sins. LOL! They were just one ROCKIN' band!So many amazing songs!

  • This IS the original group leader's voice-Paul Rodgers was Bad Co.'s vocalist. This is merely him performing a different version of his song.

  • is it just me or do ya think this would have sounded better on a les paul its got that feel i know i play it live on a les and it sounds much fuller

  • love this song!

  • if you listen to the wind you can still heard him play

  • this is the best version of this song, paul has an amazing voice,BAD COMPANY COME TO CROATIA!!!!!!

  • Excellent version that sounds great. Thank you for posting!

  • Don't You Know?...

    Wick'd TUNE!

    FAN"TASTIC!

    THANKX 4SHARN'

ALL THE WORLD WILL LOVE YOU...!

  • If ya listen to the wind you can still hear em play. I love that phrase.

  • Me too!!

  • I saw them at Ziggys in North Carolina in 98. It was a wonderful time in my life, up close watching them. LOL, spandex mini dress, high heels and all.

  • Every song sounds different live johnisallin, the thing with songs like this is they can be open to ad-lib and interpretation and still hold quality. It's in a slightly different Key is all. You're probably just used to Bad Company's studio version, I think Paul did well,The studio version is overly polished, so no need to bash this version, you can't beat the original

  • @bobscrew This stripped down version is the best. and I like Rodgers showing off his ability on the guitar. Not a technician but very comfortable and relaxed playing live.

  • Gooooood

  • dood, you some serious skills!

  • Beautiful

  • This is the original writer and singer of this song. Every time you hear it on the radio, this is the guy that's singing it. Everyone is entitled you their opinion but, in this rare case, your opinion is wrong.

  • What an idiotic comment! Go do your homework before posting.........

  • This is the guy who originally sang it when it was released in 1975. Ask your parents if they have "Straight Shooter" stashed in the attic.

  • @johnisallin dude he IS Bad Company... don't comment unless u know what u are talking about.

  • @johnisallin what a dunce!

  • this is the song i listened, cried as many times i have heard.Boozed up on dry things i used to listen it again and again.

    Long live "Shooting Star"

  • this songs a story forsure Syd56...I used to hear this on vaction when I was a kid...great tune

  • its about free lead guitarist,,the late great, paul kossoff

  • @allendavyddkilleran No, the song was written about a year before Kossoff passed away.

  • Please tell me what the lyrics mean.

  • This tells the story of young boy who grows up to be a Rock Star, but he succumbs to Rock And Roll excess and dies of a drug overdose. According to Bad Company lead singer Paul Rodgers, the song is a warning. He wrote it about the casualties of the music business; people like Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin as well as others who didn't make it.

  • Best song ever, whenever feeling down sing this song in my head, helps me get through the day. Thanks Paul...

  • He is the freaking Rock Monster!

  • that's my fav song ever

  • same here...love yah paul

  • im not a black person...i just love their music and paul rodgers dont think that im old im only 23

  • What if I made a thing for white people who like rock or metal?

I'd get freaking sued, whose the racist?

  • my favorite song ever...

  • Jerk

  • who's that on the other guitar? pauls the man of rock and roll then and now.

  • dey070556 - the other guitarist is Neil Schon (Journey). Paul Rodgers is such a respected vocalist, that whenever anyone needs a vocalist they immediately think of Rodgers. He has played with many of the top guitarists, including Jimmy Page (The Firm), and Jeff Beck, Brian May (Queen) and David Gilmour. Paul Rodgers will be support act for the upcoming Led Zeppelin reunion at the Albert hall.

  • Correction - not the Albert Hall but the O2 arena on December 10th 2007

  • You said it brother. He is one of the greatest rock tenors, like Paul McCartny and Justin Hayward. Amazing voice on Rogers.

  • One of the most emotion inspiring songs ever. I still get teary when I hear it.

  • excellent . nice live performance of a really great tune.

  • love this song! thanks for sending it:)
