This was really WONDERFUL! Such marvelous stop-action for so long ago!  The mixture of stop & live action is excellent. I LOVE the voice of the "Dolly". A VERY UN-creepy dolly and voice. Well done all around!! Of course, stop action had been around for a long time even in 1945/46. One of the finest examples ever was KING KONG from the early 30's. Some insist it has never been equalled, but I'll take this charming short any day of the week! I never recall seeing this as a child. My loss.

same as everyone else, I was born in 1992 but my parents has this along with other shorts on a Jack Frost VHS, and it was my absolute favourite. if I ever dig it up I have to convert the VHS to DVD!

My friend let me borrow a VHS tape with all sorts of things to watch on it for my girls one time when they were young, probably 12 years ago. I returned it and she's since died and I never thought I'd see this again. Thanks, it reminds me of her.

I am 20 years-old as of writing this. I would watch this on a VHS compilation of Christmas shorts between the ages of 3 and 7. Never fathomed I'd someday watch this in such clarity, without the visual artifacts of a worn-out VHS cassette. Well done.

This is a film I recall seeing at my church's Christmas party. The film shows what an average American family's Christmas looked like. Yeah, it does bring back a few memories and a lump in the throat to this 67 year old Front Row Kid. Thanks for posting it.

I haven't seen this movie since I was a young child! (I was born in the 80's.) My mother had these on VHS along with Santa's Surprise and Rudolph. I thought I would never see these again. She and I are both glad to finally see these again. Thanks a million!

Let me state what should be obvious: this film is CREEPY. I mean, why is Santa torturing this poor child with visions of a weird dancing doll on Christmas Eve? He doesn't even fully explain his reasoning! And - what's with the dialogue? "Now I'm going to dance for you?!" What's up with that? Listen - I watched this cartoon as a kid. I thought it was creepy, and it gave me nightmares. Now I watch it again, and I still think it's creepy, and it still gives me nightmares. This is a TERRIBLE film.

I can't believe I still remember this. I was about 5 the last time I saw this, and I didn't like it. LOL XD

The little rag doll use to scare me, I thought it was mean to the giraffe, and to the other toys, and it was destroying the house with the fan. But the way the little girl threw it to the side, what a little brat!

this is a very well animated film, lots of camera moves and some mixed media live action effects too! I've yet to try my hand at that, different methods what with todays digital equipment

Wow, really nice screen transfer, and now I finally know what year it was released! My daughter and I watch this every year on one of those sleazy compilation VHS tapes, and the quality is abysmal. Still, I'm 54 and can still remember seeing "public domain" stuff like this on TV as a kid, and films like this have a soft place in my heart at Christmas, cheesy as they are!

when i was 5 or 6 years old..(1964-65) my mother took me christmas shopping with her...there was a small kids theater set up in the shopping center (we call them malls now)...it was actually a place for shoppers to leave kids to keep them occupied...there i saw this short film...i never was able to find it again because being so young...i didn't know the title or the actors...i am now 51 and just happened on it here...during a random search...seeing this means more than you know...thankyou!

Thank you. It's makes whatever I am doing here worth it. You should be able to find it on DVD in compilations. Some are bad quality, but usually cheap.  Read the info to the right as this is merely the English dubbed version. The real name of the film is "Vánoční sen" from Czechoslovakia.
