Someone broke my heart many years ago. I played this song over & over again while sitting in the dark & staring out the window into the cold lonely night. I never want to have that feeling or be in that state of depression again. I've worked very hard at trying to make sure that I didn't break someone's heart. Because of that effort it has made me a better person & a better man. But I gotta tell you, I still believe in love and I lone for the day that I am in love again.

People really don't know anything about music AT ALL if they don't know Luther's music. I was in the music store and picked up a Luther Christmas CD because mine is played out. The guy behind the counter said WOW Luther has a Christmas CD? I was like dude WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? If we didn't have Luther for Christmas it just wouldn't even seem like Christmas.

It's just that special something identifiable with Luther's passion for bringing to life what those words on paper mean thru singing it, and making it come from his heart. Even as a little girl in the mid eighties, I may not have understood what all his lyrics meant, but I could sense a strong sense of melancholy with this man. A beautiful melancholy that no one else can replicate. He makes the most beautiful of love songs, and even the songs about love gone wrong and heartbreak.
I feel so blessed to have been able to experience this virtuoso...So many stories can be told about him and how he has changed the lives of countless individuals, births( you know...;-)), breakups and hookups....BIG UPS to an amazing brother.

Thank you, So much, Butterfly Kiss. I love this song and I miss my Father. Musically speaking, that is. My mom was sick with this album. I was five years old going on six and I remember hiding in a dark room when everyone was gone or asleep and crying to the whole song and the Gimme The Reason album, as a whole, was the bomb, anyway. He intorduced me to some heavy concepts early on. Mom love her "Loofah"

It was a shock to me to learn that Luther only sold 40 million in his career. As far as i am concerned Luther's music is required listening for all civilized people. This man's voice is able to transform your mind and force stress off your body. Luther is the ultimate balladeer. I remember this song when it first came out. I was trying my best to date this young lady name Hyacinth. We went to Bentley's in NYC and on the second floor where they had the slow jams, we danced to this. I could never get her but I still remember that dance. I told her to listen to the lyrics because he was singing this for me to her. I held her tight and never wanted that record to end. It stil brings a smile to my face.
