Memory lane, was on the USS Okinawa (LPH-3) from 83-86. Olongapo was a port I always looked forword to. I liked a little place off the "beatin path" called the Bamboo Grove, there was a little gal working there that looked just like Pat Benatar, after 43 days at sea and a few San Miguel's, I was in love!!!!! Would love to visit OC one more time before I die,m maybe, just maybe...............

Wow!! Outstanding video quality. Stationed there from 76-78. Lived on Alba street. Still married to waitress #12 from Old West #2. Great memories of places like Rufadora, Wild West #1 and #2, Old West #1 and #2, Sierra club, etc. VP Alley on Gordon St. (?) was a hole in the wall but lots of brown shoe friends from that place. Thanks for the upload!
Great memories, Thanks so very much. We used to go to Via's Diner an I could get Black eyed peas an corn bread. Is the man in the long sleeve white shirt, Eddie Talada ? Eddie Talada an the Oldies but Goodies band played at the Showboat club 1985.

..WOW, this video brings back so many memories since I lost all the slides & super8 movies i took when i was stationed there at NAS Cubi Pt. from '68 to '70.. so many of those places i had forgotten until i saw this video, thanks for putting this video together & posting it here.
Salamat sa memories. I was born in the P.I. My Father retired there after 23 years in the U.S navy. I left the P.I. in 85. I sure miss Olongapo. I moved to San Diego. now in Washington State. Salamat.
I miss going to the Solid Gold Club (from 1983 to 86), sit down with a San Magoo, hangin out with my girl Rea Valano, and jamming to the BEST stereo system in Olongapo. Does anyone agree with me about Solid Gold's music system??? Awesome times. Rea, where are you? I miss you.

Thank you for a very nice video of memeories. In 1965, I first went to Olongapo while serving in the U.S. Marines at Subic Bay. By 1975, I had visited Olongapo dozens of times. I love this city, the people and the Phillipines as a whole. The people here have manage to find a way to bounced back from one event after another. The resiliency of the people here have always moved me since day one. I plan to return to Olongapo in January. Salamat for the memories. Muahhhh.
on one of the segments.. T's Tavern.. reason why there is a Off Limits Cafe.. cause back in the days they have a high risk of luslos o sakit sa babae.. everytime the ship pull in that place is blocked listed to sailor.. means off limits... so they come out this idea "off limits cafe" It works but the MP is all over the place lol.. MR T use to be one of the city's treasurer.. he was 65 when i left Gapo.. that was 25 years ago.. he was my neighbor with 5 wives at the same time.. Bacon ST
