OMG this brings back memories! This was my most favorite movie when I was a kid, the music being one of the primary reasons. It's as beautiful as I remember.
when people say they miss the Old Disney, does it count as 'bringing them back' when they re-release them in 3d? cause i accept dvd, but not 3d unless that was how it was originally released. :picky:
If you ever see me, this music will be playing in your head 'cause this represents everything I stand for. It's the music of my youth, my present and my future. I can listen to this forever.
Why do I always feel like crying when I listen to this part of the soundtrack? Maybe because of the power of the melody? Or rather because all those childhood souvenirs that come along every single time? Or maybe something even deeper? All I know is this track is so beautiful and magnificent.
I just realized... Ponyo is essentially the Japanese version of *this* story. Fitting, since Miyazaki is essentially the W. Disney of Japan. And now I realize why the opening to Ponyo affected me so profoundly. I couldn't figure it out, but now I understand. It reawakened that three year-old boy inside me. It reminded me of the first film to ever steal my heart.
@SoldiersOfEarth thats why i like ghibli; cause they've for the most part stuck to classic animation while Disney's gotten cgi crazy. (with the exception of winnie the pooh. but i cried just seeing the previews, cause seeing real animation made me feel like a little girl again. and i cant wait to see Arriety the Borrower!)
TLM is made magical by its beautifully done score. This and The Lion King had the best scores (and some of the best songs) in Disney animated history in my opinion.
@Hysteria200 Still, doesn't make a difference for me. They are both great scores fitting to the atmosphere of the story and drawing you into the events as if they were really happening in real life. That was the magic of old school Disney, which I tend to believe is slowly yet assuredly returning with Princess and the Frog and Tangled.
This music is what made Disney great. After some years of trouble in the company, Ariel just made Disney to what it is today..but I don't like the "new" Disney with crap like Hannah Montana or High School Musical..
I miss Ariel, Aladdin and the Beauty and the Beast..they were so GREAT...!!!
@bohemianchick411 Don't forget Hans Zimmer and Jerry Goldsmith, both excellent composers. I'm still in love with The Lion King's and Mulan's soundtracks <3 And... who made Tarzan's?
oh my god... anyone else being assaulted by memories? : )

My mum apparently cried when we saw this in the cinema and this song came on :') I was only young I can't remember, but I apparently looked so happy.

I haven't seen this movie in such a long time! All I really remember is the basic story... and Ariel combing her hair with the fork.

@Walshblazer47 but the LION KING music was not conducted by Alan Menken, it was a conducted by the one and only, Hans Zimmer.
