Why have I not heard you before? I came across your blog by way of the Dumble Clone interview you did with Premier Guitar. I've learned guitar through years of just playing for myself, but now am going to HAVE to try do something with it to earn a living -economy finally got me, too :>)- and my question is this: Have you any insight into busking as to how one can make portable a DECENT tone? The Hot Fudge w/Nuts or Marshall (boutique amp)will have to stay at home
Those that think the band is 'weak' have no idea this is Gil Evans' arrangement from the RCA album, "The Gil Evans Orchestra Plays The Music Of Jimi Hendrix" on RCA (recorded in '74 and '75). Hendrix and Evans were set to collaborate and record, but Jimi died a few months before the sessions were set to start. We can only imagine what would have resulted. Miles Davis did some of his best work with Gil Evans. This is a great, great performance of "Little Wing".
Solo was great! I love the jazz influence, I gotta dig up the sheets now from your fusion class I got at the summer performance program a few years ago!
Such a beautiful song ... shame this version doesn't quite cut it ... but at least with this version we have the words, I hear so many versions of 'Little Wing' out there with no words ... since when was Little Wing an instrumental?
Thanks! Actually FYI, later in the fall I have a book coming out "Funk/R&B Guitar" on Hal Leonard/Berklee Press. It has a little insight into some of my tricks..:) Keep an eye on the lookout..very simple concepts that go a long way
