This is A way of playing a double stroke, not THE way. You can also use Moeller technique which uses a up-stroke first and then a down-stroke. Works like a charm!

@music63h I think that's because the toms don't provide as much rebound as the snare does, so he's compensating.

@music63h It shouldn't be all fingers anyway. It's fingers and wrists at all times, it's just how much of each you use changes depending on the speed.
