Prince played what he heard and felt. As far as this album is concern it certainly reflects the tumultuous strain he was going through at this particular point in his career. However, their are some solid gems on this album such as 'P Control' this one 'Shhhh...' 'Shy' however, the production is over the top and this album felt rushed. Not one of my top 5 fav Prince albums but certainly in my top 10.

@ranus42 i dis-agree. i really think this album kicked real hard. but i think the following albums until he freed himself were bland. in saying that...there were a couple of songs on gold that i thought were weak - but the whole concept - well it blew my mind.

This and so many other songs from Prince are SO UNDERRATED.Definitely one of my favorites from Prince.Dont get me wrong Prince had so many great songs in the late 70's and 80's too but to me he was in his absolute prime in the 90's especially from 1991-1997.
