  • a bit more research and it could have been a great video

  • Uhm.. Couldn't she just wear another dress or something? 'Cause i've seen prettier dresses... xP

  • Lol, why did that lady bother unlacing the back? It would have been much quicker to unclip the front :P

  • Is it really that hard to breathe in a corset ? I don't think you can die from wearing one

  • i have been tighlacing for 15 years i am a 44 triple D cup size size 12 panty since those 15 years of tightlacing my body is a hourglass shape. wearing corsets make me aery horney woman.

  • They're not that bad

  • It's bigger on the one end for your boobs, not for your gut.

  • Maybe you shouldnt put it on upside down

  • I wish whoever did the costume design on this had had even the slightest clue about Victorian clothes. Because they obviously didn't.

  • it's too bad they don't allow so much words thats needed to explain something....but yeah read the *now theese day today* comment before *and in this video* and then last *some people* ^_^

  • some people need to read the corset history facts. before commenting. ^_^ and yeah she didn't tight the corset right, and the corset was upsite down but still think about what they maybe had in point to show....not exactly the details about how she tighted the corset and if the corset was upside down esc. :3

  • @DeathCandy92 YOU need to get your facts right. Back then they only had whalebone, which was soft as plastic and molded to one's body. And it's also impossible to die from getting tugged by laces on the spot, then AND now. Back then many of the "medical reports" are without any basis or facts. The era when those thesis written about corsets breaking a person's bones and destroying one's organs was the same era that thesis about "hysteria" as a medical condition were out and about.

  • and in this video, yes it was upside down....but thats not the point...i think the point of making this video was to show ...what could happend years and years ago...if you looked at the style at the house and the clothes....you see that this is supposed to be old fashioned...but yeah years ago they tighted the corsets way to much....so females died ... even babys.

  • @DeathCandy92 Ya know, in Victorian times a) the young woman would've been used to wearing a corset, and b) the older woman would've known how to correctly lace up a corset. This doesn't show what happened back then, this shows what could theoretically happen when someone has no clue what the hell they're doing.

  • now theese day today, corsets don't kill people.....before, for many years ago they sometimes killed people....bcause of different reasons...some couldn't breathe in em, others got their ribs distroyed and stuff....corsets got forbidden once, and it lasted a couple of years...then someone found up the underwear corsets as we call em today.....and corsets got allowed again.

  • @DeathCandy92 omg ahahahah ur full of shit , there were laws making women wear them but never banning

  • there is nothing wrong with corseting; its a slow and beautiful art process, in modifying ones body.

  • Firstly, how the hell did you not realise the corset is UPSIDEDOWN

and corsets dont kill people... LOL

  • This is really silly. The corset is upside down, the waist reduction was only a few inches and her ribs were barely compressed at all.

Also, the way the old lady was yanking on the laces? Not the way to do it. you have to put constant tension on them, if you yank you get nowhere as it tensions and slackens. You also risk breaking them if you're violent and you don't have to be. She was also pulling both the under and over-cosses. You only need to pull the over-crosses.

  • Oh wow, SO GLARINGLY OBVIOUS that the corset has been worn upside down. I am only a beginner in wearing corsets and I was wondering how people could tell but I look at the silhouette and the lines... Ugh. I just hate it when people criticize a subject which they did not even do a full proper research on. There are people who lace tighter than that in this era and they're fine!

  • LOL THE CORSET IS UPSIDE DOWN

  • jajajajaja genial! XD

  • loooooooool

  • XD that was very exaggerated...lol

  • lol. Probably would've worked better if the corset was right side up!

  • xD I THOUGHT it looked funny! It is upside down! that's so sad...

  • haha XD

  • crap video, crap corset.

  • fun! I tight laced for a while...not sure if i won or lost, The busk broke, I did get to a 30 from a 36 and yes it will make you faint, BUT i got it fully closed.

  • Hilarious! I couldn't tell the corset was upside down though. I don't wear one but I really REALLY want to, don't know where to go or exactly what to do. Anyone have any advice for me? Besides to always wear it the right way up? :) Thanks!

  • @Blackthorne369 look at the boning. it's aimed outwards her waist on this video. it's supposed to go upwards and out towards the boobs :D

  • hahahahaha i loved it n_n

  • LOL...

  • OMG thats UPSIDE DOWN you genius...*facepalm*

  • epic fail xD

  • lmao...they didn't spend that much time putting them on. they put their shoe on and PULLED!

  • lmao this is bullshit. next time you make a short film about corsets, make sure the corset is right side up :p

  • vhkkkkk

  • thanks lady for helping me! Now I can wear that dress to my funeral!

  • cute :) i liked the music and the haunting pink dress. good for the general population who doesnt know what an upside down corset looks like lol, which is most people...

  • @okwhateverfulable ROTFL!

  • ...how do you recognize it's wrong side up?

  • @jethro035181 You see the lines in the front of the corset? Those are shaping a V, and not an A...So the point where the lines should spread from is always the corset's bottom.

  • @m0niee ....thanks, it wasn't too important that i know that, but next time i chance to need one, i'll know how to wear it !.....seriously though, thanks for bothering

  • Love the vid, Hate the ending,. I have tight waist-ed Had to self lace,,,but got my corset fully closed., I never fainted, Thinking back Wow,,,who would have un laced me? Oddly my busk broke. Didn't buy another one,

I did learn....shoes and stockings first, THEN the corset!

    Just tighten slowly. each day.

    Soon you understand the joy

In Jan I get my E implants, Dr. said C. i wen( am going E..)..and am corset shopping,.

    Don't try this at home..

  • @lacy235 I'm naturally a G and my back is killing me even at this very moment... I think you're crazy to go so high!

  • AHAHAHAH upside down.. the ..ummmm bagginess in the top... lol.. this is funny.. no real person who is truly a corseting fan or interested in waist training would ever make this mistake.. Corseting is beautiful and comforting.. and should always be done over time never all at once...silly girl. LOL.. was the upside down on purpose?

  • lol what an awkward way to die

  • Aren't corsets for tightlacing usually laced differently?

And worn the other way up?

  • The corset wasnt made to make you skinny, it was made for women not touching men with their belly fat and to change the shape of your figure.

  • lol! Isn't the corset upside down? The girl wouldn't even pass out in a corset that close to the natural size of her waist! But great vid...made me laugh!

  • Yea it takes a REALLY tight corset and or some pretty heavy exertions to really incur any problems while wearing one. I've definitely cut my waist size in about 1/2 and still been fine, and I don't use one on a regular basis :)

  • hey=)))I use a corset every day, lace it about 4 inches, and I am also a soprano singer.so NO WAY someone could feel that bad wearing a corset.of course, the first time,it is a little bit uncomfortable, but if I don't lace it to maximum,I can even move my diaphragm with no problem.so this video is funny=)))))now, since I have them,I can't wear anything else.I love my corsets:D

  • the corset is way too big for her and there wasn't any waist reduction at all

  • lmfao the corset was upside down? xD

  • corsets are not that uncomfortable

  • @JaysaLittle Unless you get one that doesn't fit properly...like if its too long or short...or if you have it on the wrong way..

  • Wow, that kind of favors my first corset. I love it but I've never died from it XD

  • lol

  • at least she passed out pretty. NOT! lol

  • exaderation to the extreme!

  • haha

  • She would have been fine if the corset was the right way up...

  • Why not just buy a properly sized dress...

  • You could say she was just dieing to get into that dress, bad joke I know, but I couldn't resist the pun,

  • 4:40 , so saw that comming,

  • i will get corset soon too and i believe i won't die in it. but nice movie, beautiful girl!

  • In my opinion this video makes FUN of people who wear corsets. The first thing is apparently you would never do what she is doing. it takes time. She also could have been pregnant we do not know. But most women know their bodies as do the men who wear them. Sure there was a lot of faiting during this era for a lot of reasons documented and undocumented. but i dont think its fair to make fun of those who enjoy corsets. but i guess i cannot take them too seriously. BS nice artistic colors/shadows

  • but i must admit when the strings are pulled tighter it feels incredible. Especially if a guy does it for you. omg its really hot. but then unfortunately i have lost my ZEST for it now but before i was married i spent 400 on a corset and my boyfriend at the time elected to help me with it. he never did it before but he had so much fun learning and he could do it so tight. I loved it..but anyway it was GREAT i had to remove it though mine had a nice soft lining but you dont eat much wearing

  • im not what they call a corsetiere i just think that women should still wear the corset not for feticsh reasons but for the reason that its just proper for a girl to wear them

  • Fortunately this was only really true back then when corsets were improperly laced, and fitted.

Now you are able to comfortably wear a tight corset without having too much of an issue, since they are now fit to your measurements (if you're smart) and laced in a way that makes it less likely to have a problem with breathing and moving. :)

  • Ironic way to die.

    Artificial beauty kills.

  • What exactly is the girl meant to have died of? LOL. Maybe if they'd showed her screaming as her ribs broke or something...

  • yup.... the corset is upside down.....

  • @SpiritDragoness I thought it looked funny! xD

  • why do it look so painful lol

  • At least she looks good

  • I wear corsets and i have nothing against this but that's cruel and discusting. Morphing a demorphing a girls waist just to look good in public. Stupid. I just wear corsets for fun, and i don't do that to myself.

  • Maybe I'm wrong, but I think her corset is upside down! No wonder she is so uncomfortable! Haha. I thought this was interesting, and she did a wonderful job looking ill towards the end. I often feel that way after I eat Mexican food lol.

  • Maybe I'm mistaken, but it looks like she's wearing the corset upside down! No wonder she's so uncomfortable ;)

  • Nicely shot and styled, but please have some knowledge of corsetry before you start using them in films, let alone make them the central prop of the film!! It is quite clearly up-side down.

  • is it just me.....or is the corset..upside down....o__O

  • stop torturing the poor corset, she's just too fat

  • As a Corsetiere this video makes me laugh so hard! First of all the Corset was upside down! Secondly there was hardly a 4 inch reduction on her waist, not nearly enough to cause her to pass out or in this case... die?

Anybody watching this, please take a second and realize this is NOT the reality of Corset wearing! This is a dramatic example of the telephone game. Over the years Corsetry has earned a "love it or hate it" status, and those who hate it tend to over exaggerate the side effects.

  • @BodiciousCorsets Probably because its fiction, and thus doesn't really need to be true about anything. We can assume if someone is looking for a guide to wear a corset they will not reference a fictional short film. Much as pilots do not watch Top Gun to learn how to fly planes.

  • @BodiciousCorsets Personaly I love corsets. Never owned one before although I have tried a few on. Getting for christmas can't wait. However unlike what we just saw in this video I know they shouldn't be uncomfortable if they fit properly.

  • @BodiciousCorsets I didn't notice that, thanks for that.

  • @BodiciousCorsets

Someone get that girl a pair of jeans!

This was neat, whether it was totally "accurate" or not, BodiciousCorsets.

Since I realize corsets aren't generally killers, I think it could be taken as a metaphor for eating disorders and our own society's obsession with a much deadlier beauty ideal. Anyways, it was well done and well shot!

  • Uh, yeah... this corset is upside down, no wonder the poor girl was in pain.

Also, unless you're into tightlacing, corsets do not make you faint. This girl isn't even tightlaced, barely 5 inches or so is taken off her waist, which is totally standard for a steel bone corset.

I own several steel bone corsets, and I take up to 10" off my waist on a day where I'm tight lacing. I haven't died yet!

  • fully agreed! i laughed so hard!

  • I agree! ! laughed so hard when I saw this!

  • I agree! ! laughed so hard when I saw this!

  • The corset is upside down!

  • You know why the corset fails?

    Because it's upside down!!

If your doing a movie on corsets, even if it's a small one, PLEASE research on how you put it on..

The cups are clearly visible at the bottom.

Where the boning almost comes toghether at the top (in the video) is most definately the real bottom of the corset.

  • Just great, now even MORE people will think tightlacing can kill you

Tightlacing, just like pretty much anything else you do to your body, can hurt you if you do it wrong. The character here is obviously in pain, why?? Because the corset was the wrong size and it was taken in too much too fast. I can cinch my waist down by about 7 inches without any pain or discomfort because my body is used to being laced that tight, and even still, I never tighten it all the way at once, I take baby steps.

  • Not good for your organs if its worn reallllllly long hours but it makes you slimmer lol so .. yeh..

  • This is a real exaggeration, I have a corset, and I am

practitioner Tight Lacing. Exaggeration that video too!

  • death by corset

  • Is it me or is the corset up side down? Or does it have a weird construction?

  • @Mornie21 There are many styles of corsets. This is an overbust one.

  • @PrettyTigerlilly, i well familiar with corsets, i own a lot of them en make them myself. Including several overbust. But this one is up side down. The boning on the front are closer to each other for belly support, not bust. The heart shape is the upside, here down.

  • @Mornie21 Yes I see it now, omg how did that mistake get into the movie???? O_O Mabe thats why she died LOL!

  • Come on, that;s not all that tight, I go tighter on a night out and can still dance industrial style so quit complaining...

  • Mother knows best, huh?

  • do you think that will acctually hurt?

    yeah right

  • @DigiCosmicAngel They actually sometimes did. Of course there were troubles in breathing.

  • Ok I have only hear of one case of a countess dieing for her corset but thats because she had a fractured rib for a riding accident and when she laced it the corset punctured her lung.... Corsets are not deadly they may make u faint though...

  • tightlacing doesn't even hurt when you lace yourself up with enough time to adjust.

and no it can't kill you, unless you're running 3 hours a day or if you get trouble with breathing. fainting is possible but this :P overexagerated

  • OMG!!!....Ab crunches work for me!!!!

  • Fat women shouldnt wear corsets. That trapped fat will make them sweat easily and cause other health problems.

  • Gosh, old lady. Don't break the girl! Would you believe that women used to take EVEN LONGER getting ready?

  • corsets are not deadly, and things like this just fuel the fire of common misconceptions that modern day waist trainers have to defend them selfs against.

  • @vampylittleragdoll Heh. I'm always kind of amused when people act like they're being persecuted because they're 'defending' ridiculous body expectations...

  • Mom knows best ;)

  • This reminds me of a book I just recently read about how women would go through ridiculous things like going from a natural 24 inch waist to a 18 inch waist all through corseting. She would sleep in it as well. She later found out that her mother died from her corset, who went on to have a 16 inch waist from a natural 25. Her lady organs got pushed out. Sad but awesome book

  • @camachojm88 what book was it?? (it sounds interesting) :)

  • @camachojm88 what is the book called?

I think that's a bit extreme, I would like to wear corsets but I'll only tighten it down to what my body can handle.. if that makes sense. sort of 'natural' just to what it can get to without trying to tighten to unrealisticinches. though some can do it if they are naturally petite - saying this I don't know much about waist training ect, but i think if done right and not trying to go to extremes it can be okay

  • they make it look so painful

  • reminds me of how people expect us women to be something we're not...... :,(

people understands the concept of beauty in a wrong way

  • who needs a lousy corset with a face like that?

  • Tight laces should only be done very slowly, and between pulling one has to breath slowly and deeply as you can. Breath in from your chest. She was in to much of a hurry. Besides why dose no one thing to undo the front? All they are are hooks. Phiff

  • @Persphonefallen because you can't undo the hooks if the laces are still tight, never mind THAT tight :\

  • @somethingratherfunny True.....

  • First off, corseting done right is NEVER dangerous to your health. Since I assume she was indeed a corseting novice, she should never have attempted tight lacing. Also, a good rule of thumb is to never let the 2 sides of the corset meet. You're not sewing them together.

But yeah, brilliant video, loved it. But why did she have a dress that small? And honestly, that corset wasn't that tight. Not to kill her. Lol.

  • @NoMoreCinnamonRolls I Think this is sort of a story, not necessarily a historical or factual account.

I hope that corset wasn't actually tight enough to kill her, or the people who hired that actress to play in this would be in some serious trouble.

  • You're right :-) She didn't even get her waist line exposed, her shapes were not smooth, so she did not get any pressure on her rib cage. LOL.

If someone tries to make a video... Maybe he/she should get some knowledge about the subject?

  • are they safe

  • @crouchingtiger1000 as long as they are used in a safe way. If you try to tighten it beyond how tight it was made to be, it would be a problem. And the damage really isn't life threatening if you do, cracked ribs and fainting. The real danger would be if you fainted in a situation that could be fatal, like driving a car or something.

  • @gloomilyeuphoric I totally agree! If you want to tight you corset, you must go slow, and not the way she does in this movie. It is things like this that make corset look like the villain when it isn't.

  • That was good!

  • it wasnt even that tight!

  • buenisimo jajajaja

  • over exageration! I've laced my corset tighter and it doens't even hurt nor do i find it difficult to breathe. then again, I am just a twig, XD so even small corsets in size 1 are still large for me.

  • @BlackRose2354 i'm normal size and i can still breathe in one just fine myself lol

  • I laced my corset wrong and broke it! My tailor was like you tied it to tight didnt you. she was like don't worry, its a simple fix.

  • You can breathe just fine in a corset. That one was not even that tight.

  • Men wore corsets also. The were not the hour-glass shape though.

  • Did anybody noticed that the girl put the corset up side down?

  • Beautiful, funny and sad... gorgeous lighting.

  • sad ..... i imagine a funny end ;(

  • i would love to have a crset to sit me up streight and cinch me in a little i always thought it would be perfect to have my waist a little bit smaller, not so much to damage me but as a kind of renforcement.

  • I love being tied in a tightly laced corset. Once I was in a fetish shop and a sales assistant had drawn the cords behind. I have hardly received any air and was near fainting. But just that is a indescribable feeling. I love it ;-))))))))))))

  • Poor corset has a wimpy dead girl in it. Next.

I've laced tighter than that and went out to eat and dance. I wish people would stop jumping to conclusions about corsets.

  • Even though it's highly impossible to die from tieing a corest that tight-passing out more so, but it still show's all the pain the woman have to go through to be 'perfect'

Which is why I like this.

Seriously if guy's had to go through one week being a girl they would LOVE to change back-expecialy in that day of time.

It's sad though that we put up with this when you can be beautiful just being yourself.

    5/5

  • Victorian ladies would tie corsets extremly tight, but the most that would happen would be passing out, dying would come latter, by pushing your organs in and breaking your ribs. Even still i LOOOOVVVVEEEE CORSETS! I love this short film!!!

  • Further playing on the fallacy that corsets can kill you like that.

That corset reduces her less than 4 inches as it is still too big on her when done up fully. There is barely any reduction at the waist. lol

I do hope this doesn't feed the idiots out there who think its impossible to breathe in a corset and insist on asking me if I can breathe when I'm wearing mine. My response now is to say "No I can't breathe, I'm actually walking around dead."

  • pass out, sure. die, no. especially not from 3-4 inches. unless she laced down way more than she's used to & then immediately jumped on the treadmill (yes, i'm aware they didn't have treadmills 'back in the day')

  • That was rediculous, for that to have killed her the corset would have to have been at least 3 times smaller and the old woman would have to be the incredible hulk. How much did she actually reduce her waist? 4 inches? XD

Who ever wrote this clearly knows nothing about corsetry or tight laceing.

p.s. You don't reduce all at once any way, it's supposed to be done gradually over many weeks or even months. I've gone down far smaller than she did with no ill effects at all.

  • Sigh it's just a short film. If they sized down the corset untill she would die in a realistic way then it would be suicide to produce this one...

  • Or yaknow, buy a bigger dress may work?

  • @TricksOfADominatrix No... fatties weren't allowed at parties back then lol

  • If only she knew about dieting clubs.

  • haha! She died! Owned noob!! Old lady wins. GF

  • Now they can split the back out of the dress and bury her in it. ;)

  • she dided no it is immossible

  • I'll never be that desperate for a dress...or a man, either. What a sad way to go...

  • LOL, death by corset XD

what a rubbish way to die!!

funny how the old lady runs away after :')

  • that was so cool! =] love it.

  • Excellent video!!!!!!!!

  • great video

  • wow what a wuss. that's nothing, the fashionable waist used to be 19 inches. the dresses were always of exquisite quality back then and were very expensive (as were many of the authentic fully stayed corsets ((not shown above))) it wasn't as easy as just going down to walmart and getting a new frock..

this video sucks way to be a sexist. way to give in to the man.

corsets are a thing of beauty, a thing of health, they are very comfortable when they are constructed and worn correctly.

  • indeed!! I wear one very regularly and I reduce my waist by up to 6" and feel perfectly comfortable!

Most women wore corsets to a waist size of 20"-34" daily and if were truly that harmful, it would have damaged the population far more! ;p

  • ... 5 inch ROUND waist be? How can they even stand, or keep from bending straight in half, though? I have to ask... Where's the room for the muscles, in the last picture?

  • no no, I mean when I wear a corset, I loose up to 6" so my natural waist is 27" and when I wear my corset my waist becomes 22"

  • yes she died because the corsest was upside down.

the bones always go narrow at the bottom front and expant at the top a V not an A
