  • M&D were "up-and-coming" at this worlds. Maybe not contenders for the gold medal, but magical nevertheless. Commentators sometimes show their bias so blatantly, such as shouting personal opinions and/or "announcing" results before the judges' scores come up. And by the way, "up-and-coming" here means years of coaching by Moskvina. She is a force to be reckoned with, she is a gifted coach and mentor. I live in the US, and wish we had a Moskvina here. No offense; we do pairs poorly here.

  • libralady1010, have you seen the FS by the top couples there? While I appreciate what you say about inappropriate commentators, even G&G fans might be able to understand why the judging in this competition remains controversial--with G&G's disasterous performance, Selezneva & Makarov's strong FS, and this couple's (M&D) intricate program filled w/ difficult moves.

  • @nondescriptnyc u're forgetting brasseur and eisler, who actually had the performance of the night in the free skate--lost the free skate, controversially, to g/g on a 5-4 split. ((b/e were 4th in the short, ended up second overall.) if my math is correct, had they won the free skate and m/d finished second ahead of g/g, b/e would have won.

  • @nondescriptnyc Oh the judging in this competition WAS controversial. Selezneva& Makarov had the misfortune of competing against V&V-actually, S&M were thought to be the better pair in 1983 but illness kept them from going to Worlds';then G&G came along; then Natasha and Artur. The podium was getting a little crowded at Russian Nationals and they unfortunately were getting a little too old-not in my book. They did unusual and very difficult moves as well.

  • @libralady1010 I though LS and OM pulled out of 1983 Worlds after a bloody, on-ice altercation with EV and OV. My Russian is marginal, but here you can find a translated comment about the incident at

  • @Minouchouette Thank you! Where is the translated comment? I would love to read it as I always thought-in some way there was not a lot of love lost between V&V and LS and OM.

  • Thanks for this...this Pair team, probably more than any other in recent years was and is sorely missed.

  • You know you are good when you shut Toller Cranston up for more than a minute!

With this said, the judging there was highly controversial. Scott Hamilton announced during their FS that they had won the competition (not that they SHOULD win, but they've won), only to find out seconds later that they weren't even CLOSE to winning.

  • He is the "king"of shouting out the winners.Very inappropriate. He thinks G&G shouldn't have won in 1990, then he does everything he can in 1994-after they'd been in his SOI-to all but place the gold medals around their necks. Screeches in 2002 that S&P "WON THAT PROGRAM!" before the Chinese team had even skated. He did again @ 2010 Nationals Ladies.Surely they can find someone else-PLEASE!-besides him and self righteous Sandra Bezic to commentate. She had no interest in 2002 outcome, did she?NOT!

  • @libralady1010 Scott Hamiltons bias in commentary in numerous cases, both in amateur and pro competitions, is clearly directly related to who skated on SOI. With the clear conflict of interest he shouldnt be commentating. The same goes for Sandra Bezic who has even more conflict of interest not only due to being the director of SOI for many years but choreographing for some of the top pro and amateur skaters.

  • thank you so much for this video.. I loved them so much
