Calvin, I agree that Republicans who support medicare but oppose government-run health care are holding contradictory ideas. They should stand on principle; both are immoral- no one, no matter how needy, should be supported involuntarily by others. The industry is already heavily regulated anyway, deregulate it, subject it to the market, and watch prices fall and quality soar. Medicare should be phased out, and every person should plan for their health long-term. It's called responsibility.

The entire world politicians sound democracy, in the theory it works, but in the practical life it doesn't work. How many rules and laws are there for us to obey? eventhough against our will ! Exemple: paying interest rates, your house, car, are not yours if you avoid paying the tributes, according to each country legislation.

This is a Republic, the sole purpose of which was to protect individual rights. The incorrect assumption that this is a democracy is part of the problem. Even if the majority would wish to vote their rights away, they cannot thanks to our Constitution. The problem is people are ignoring that rule - enter medicare, enter taxation, enter entitlements.
