Of course dancing is not prohibited if there is no haram involved,but we can not attribute it to our deen or come up with new ways of zikr of ALlah(swt). For that we have the example of our beloved prophet(s) and his companions who understood this religion a lot better.You can go ahead and dance and jump all you want, but don't call it zikr of Allah. Read Quran, say tasbih the way our beloved prophet(saws) taught us, pray nafila,teach your children. That is the zikr of Allah!!!

Again, brother, inviting to the tawhid of Allah SWT and the sunnah of his beloved prophet(SAWS) is not harming a person with your hands or tongue. Why are we so stubborn to choose other ways, when Allah SWT clearly orders us in his glorious book to follow the Messenger(SAWS)?. Indeed Allah said it correctly that a human being is the most rebellious of all the creations.We have clear guidance of his beloved prophet(saws) yet we invent other ways according to our desires. Dancing is not our deen!

Subanallah , reading these comments make me think why the Ummah is in a mess today , Shaykh hamza , is doing ten times better job than any of you people who slander or even any scholar you slander... on the day of Judgment you see where he will stand , he is an asset to the Ummah... if you dont like him and think his teachings are wrong , simple dont listen .... he has changed many peoples life Alhumdulillah.... for what he has done since he embraced islam , what have you done?

there are obviously 2 sides to this debate. but it looks like what the muslims have definitely lost is the adab of debating.

they attack a person based on labels rather than what they are saying. its a shame that the muslim intellectual capacity has dropped below islamic standards.

both sides claim to follow Quran and sunnah. but how do you understand what Allah wants you to do? is there really any group that comes across a hadith on prayer but denies it? no.

Allah clearly says in the Quran: Obey Allah and his messenger(s). That is enough said. Allah out of his mercy made Islam simple to us. No need to become a sufi and go into complicated affairs that ultimately take u astray from the path of Allah. Just follow Quran and Sunnah. May Allah guide us and all the muslimin from the evil of sufism, sectarianism and unite all muslims. Ameen.

But many many islamic scholars, Shafii, Maliki, Hanafis throughout the centuries in syria, palestine , egypt iraq, yemen arabia followed a form of the sufi path . They didn;t oblige anyone to follow the sufi path. It was that which they chose.

@vatandust  as has been explained to many so pseudo salafis by salafi scholar. Sunnah is the way the prophet practised according to the way Sahabah understood it especially the 4 khalifa rasideen and after them the tabeen who followed.

@vatandust Tasawuf is not an innovation in islam period. there are things that were klung to this discipline certainly but as a discipline it remains as the core of Islam. since you can't spread good in society if you don't have good in your heart.. now anybody can define what's good. but as a muslim we define good as the prophet saw defined it.

If they made zikr of ALlah by ways of praying, reciting Quran,fasting and giving charity, then that's what I will try to follow, inshaAllah. @vatandust well start by not bashing your brother muslims first.. follow the hadith sahih stating that the true muslim is the one that people are protected from his toungue and hand. you are depriving yourself from a big chunk of the sunnah by denying the zuhd which is the tasawuf regardless of how somebody might try to define it. again. to aquire the prophetic science you HAVE to pass thru the schollars of this ummah.

It's alright, i've been hearing a lot of negative things about hamza yusuf and i've only been listening to his lectures about two weeks. I'm just going to stop learning from him. Also, i know yusuf este has some opinion about his teachings, and in the past 4 years i've never heard any negative comment about estes teachings. So, im going to send him an email and see what he thinks of the whole situtation. Alhamdulilah i found out soon. P.S i still don't have any opinion of hamza yusuf, yet.

@ivannicktheclip exactly, knowledge is essential. Only ignorant people follow sufism. The knowledge is in Quran and Hadith. Not in crazy circles of jumping up and down and barking like dogs... I am sorry but every-time I see a sufi halaqa it reminds me of a bunch of dogs barking... I love the circles where people recite Qur-an and help each other with tajweed, memorization and understanding. That's what is a true circle of zikr!!!

@vatandust yes i also have my doubts about the circle stuff and jumping.i know sufism there are many good stuff and like u mentioned,the recitation circles are good.1 time i witnessed and participated in a halaqa but i didnt find it very spiritual.in fact during the hadra,i felt pain in my heart. so i guess it not a good sign.but sufism has also a lot of good stuff,but only the stuff that is according ro the Quran and Hadith. One thing i learned from it is the importance of zikr
