great review, but i really think you should start trying to review the deluxe versions of albums, they have more songs and with this album the deluxe version had some of the best songs on the whole thing, and not many people even heard of them :)
Thank god someone saw the album for what it was, basically an excuse to brag about their fame. That's great & all but to basically make a whole album about it is ridiculous & on top of that they're not even bragging to good beats! we've all seen them do way better on their own so idk why this album was such trash. they had literally 3 good songs out of 16 on the deluxe which were niggas in paris, gotta have it, and HAM -__-
kanye west sampled otis redding in late registration get real yo, the guys been doing it since he was coming up, thats the base of his genius as a musician
also, I feel like you really overlooked No Church In The Wild. That track is straight fire. Sorry to get so defensive, I just really loved this album.
I really think you should try understand what the lyrics mean to the artist(s) and not what they mean to you. I've been watching your videos for about 3 hour now and you never seem to be impressed by any rap/hip hop music. Hip hop isn't dead. Believe me. Listen to it from their perspective. This album is a classic and EASILY one of 2011's best.
you complain about them rapping about their success but why shouldnt they ? they came from the ground with not a penny to their pockets and now look were they are, if anybody was in there position they would do the same
Watch the Throne, such a great album. Such good production, great lyrics. Jay and Kanye both push there swaggers back and forth and it builds up to make a good album. They did a reallllly good job on this.
That's My Bitch had great samples, I don't understand why being minimal with the scratches and beat take away from the song at all? Seriously its the rhythm that matters, the beat or scratches were crisp, thats the only thing I disagree with on this review and kinda annoys me because I really liked that aspect
It was ok. Some parts of it were fantastic, and others were........ I dunno. It was too be expected of a collabo album of 2 of the most chart topping, hyped of rappers, that talk about themselves all the time. I enjoyed it, it was better then Tha Carter 4, or........ (dear god) take care.
No way, this is the only time I have ever strongly strongly disagreed, this album is absolutely huge, the beats are unqiue and awesome. The lyrics are decent, but the way they flow with said unique beats is just amazing. I'd give it an 8 or a 9 out of 10. Although that's just my opinion.
I went into Watch The Throne as just that, knowing they had nothing to prove they would just throw down some of the greatest rhymes heard, maybe tell a story (after listening to was proven right) and do it over the widest amount of different sounding beats possible (especially when i heard H.A.M. was a lex beat)
these guys totally phoned it in on both the beats and the raps. it's a damn shame for 2 very talented artists to place more emphasis on their image and legacy than letting the music build it for them.
I think it's a great album. There are improvement that I think that need to be made. the lack of lyrics on certain track, maybe a little more concept direction but over the album his fun. I found myself rapping over the songs and if an album can do that then it's good.
man, i honestly think people didnt like watch the throne as much just due to their own expectations. this album had some great songs: "otis", "niggaz in paris", "why i love you", "h.a.m.", "murder to excellence", "the joy", "who gon stop me", "new day", "no church in the wild", "gotta have it".. the production was top notch.. i don't know what else you people want. you know which album sucked? CARTER 4..
i hate how that in each track of the album its either jayz or kanye giving a really bad verse.
Im saying on one track jayz could kill it and kanye just fucks up the vibe and in other track kanye could be killing it and then jayz comes in and just ruins it. -_-
Regardless of the albums kinks and issues. It was a pretty good album, I do like most of the tracks to be honest, and some of the beat-making reminds me of early Kanye (which I love). Obviously them rapping all "1%" isn't that great and I'd rather have a more "socially conscious album, some of the rhymes are pretty amazing. As a closing statement all I cans say is: If Lil Wayne's Tha Carter IV gets the grammy over Watch the Throne or MBDTF I'm giving up on the music industry.
I like ur reviews. U're one of those ppl who really gets the art of reviewing lol. The thing i disagree with here is the fact that Jay-Z really didn't believe in Kanye as a rapper or as an artist, he wanted Kanye to stick to producing. It was Dame Dash and other guys who found Kanye and believed in him and once Kanye started working on his debut album that's when Jay-Z showed up, only with a recycled verse on the track "Never Let Me Down" lol.
Best Album Of The Year , I love it because they try to Uplight African Americans and display them in a Positive Light , Instead of What Most Rappers Do , Such As Lil Wayne . Kanye West and Jay Z Are Artists . In A League Of Their Own , This Album is A Solid 11 on a Scale Of 1-10. Cockiness ? Who Cares , The Music Is The Only Thing I Care About.
You are a pretty decent critic ..... no doubt but when you say this album is a light 6
thats basically lets me know you where intoxicated while you listened to it . lol
In most people's worlds a 7 is average . btw Needle drop the album is platinum so far . I guess a million plus ppl wasted there $ . " OR YOUR DELUSIONAL ". ---- SOLID ---- 8 in my book .

@kryhmez69 are u serious??? Hip hop is the way it is bcuz no one is following jays "blueprint" to success....not many rappers are original any more...everyones a swagger jacker...everyone raps about tha same shit...thats y hip hops tha wymay it is starting wit bitch ass wayne... Foreal...
FUCK ALL OF YOU WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE JAY-Z IS FUCKING AMAZING KANYE WEST IS AMAZING THE ALBUM OS FUCKING AMAZING AND OF YOU PEOPLE R FUCKING BIGGOTS PEOPLE NOWADAYS PEOPEL HAVE NO FUCKING TASTE OF MUSIC THEY HAVE BEEN THE KINGS SINCE 2000
@djkilla0 YO IM WITH U BRO KANYE AND JAY Z ARE UNBEATABLE BEST TWO RAPPERS IN HISTORY EVER SINCE 2000 WATCH THE THRONE IS #1 ALBUM and btw did u go to the concert? i did at izod center
@nartuox Yeah atleast Jay and Yeezy (go damn it why does every damn rapper have to end with y, e, or ie these days, Nicki, Shady, Jeezy, Breezy, Gucci, Drizzy) in their own ways (despite their painfully limited scope of rapping), Drake just said fuck it "insert monotone voice here".
this album sucks cuz jay z weighs it down and there flows don't go together jay should just retire. look where the state of hip hop has bin sinse they made jigga king if he is the king hes a horrible one.
This album has more content than people say. Murder to Excellence is very concious and New Day is deep as fuck. Probably one of the most reflective tracks of the year.
u are ridiculous no where near a celebration album. their is so much lyricism u must have listened to it once never really listening to the lyricism and jus throw it away.
this album was such a let down for me. i expected better than an ego booster album especially after kanye dropped mbdtf, but then again i didn't even like that album much, i think graduation was his best work by far. and @itZjstPotna you're fucking stupid this wasn't lyrical at all, some beats were shitty, new day was definitely one of the best songs because it actually had a meaning. niggas in paris just for clubs and shit
this album was a lyricalass album most lyrical album since the MBDTF
the beats were dope as hell some were classics some were just too dope
this album has to be the best album then 2nd best album is j cole's debut album.
anyways the ALBUM was great the only songs that was not keeping up with the rest is new day. my personal favorite was "Niggas in Paris" this song is Provocative.
@EmDeeEmEY no i'm not actually. all i meant was some of his album review's i watched he basically said was shit. e.g. this one, hell the sequel. and i loved these album's they are probably two of the best album's released this year. and he said they were shitty,. it just got me a little angry. lol
@29olivergonzalez stop being ignorant and spouting the "N" Word. I know your mama taught u better rhan that. LoL @ ignorant blk/latino ppl who run around w they pants around they knees
@theneedledrop eh, in a way, but no. Trey Songz or Rihanna or some chorus artists aren't gonna have some super lyrical schmearical 8 syllable word parts in any songs...
great review, but i really think you should start trying to review the deluxe versions of albums, they have more songs and with this album the deluxe version had some of the best songs on the whole thing, and not many people even heard of them :)

Otis was one of the greatest rap beats I'd ever heard in my life. Too bad Kanye and Jay had to fuck it up with stupid-ass lyrics.
It's the same shit you hear in every rap album:
I'm rich. I'm successful. I'm great. I like light skinned women. I rap better than all the other rappers.
And that's disappointing coming from Kanye, he always used to have a little more content to his music. I guess Jay's dumbass rubbed off on him.

this album was such a let down for me. i expected better than an ego booster album especially after kanye dropped mbdtf, but then again i didn't even like that album much, i think graduation was his best work by far. and @itZjstPotna you're fucking stupid this wasn't lyrical at all, some beats were shitty, new day was definitely one of the best songs because it actually had a meaning. niggas in paris just for clubs and shit

the album gets a 9.5 out of 10
this album was a lyricalass album most lyrical album since the MBDTF
the beats were dope as hell some were classics some were just too dope
this album has to be the best album then 2nd best album is j cole's debut album.
anyways the ALBUM was great the only songs that was not keeping up with the rest is new day. my personal favorite was "Niggas in Paris" this song is Provocative.

tinFOILowl 5 months ago
@theneedledrop eh, in a way, but no. Trey Songz or Rihanna or some chorus artists aren't gonna have some super lyrical schmearical 8 syllable word parts in any songs...

I don't understand all the hype surrounding this album. I found this extremely boring and forgettable I give it about a 3.
