  • is this guy like dead now??

if not how old is he???

  • hahaha u honestly mentioned how hot in hell it was...yes.....YES....ur the best

  • your a foul man

  • Strange customs: You learn something new EVERY day!

  • I love that tradition! My brother is getting married in a couple of months, can't wait for the Polterabend! :)

About why people are breaking dishes:

There's a German saying: "Scherben bringen Glück" = "shards bring good luck". So that's why they do it, for good luck.

"Poltern" means "to make a lot of noise" (which is also how the "Poltergeist" got its name) and "Abend" means "evening". Also, as JohnyClane said, the noise is supposed to scare away evil spirits. :)

  • saw it lol some one sent too me lol ty

  • OMG you see broken dishes and I see a potential mosaic masterpiece.

  • i never understood the symbolism of breaking the dishes - all i see is a big mess with lots of potential for getting cut!

  • Funny stuff, good story telling. I believe there is a comedy contest for funny fellas and gals like you.

  • Quite an interesting tradition!

  • Rock on! I'm so glad you had a ball, Zip!

  • I love germany I spent some time out there it was the shit

  • Did you say that the bride and groom have to clean it up? Is that a way for more good luck or something? I'm glad that you all helped instead of them having to do it. Hopefully I understood that right lol Glad you had a great trip! xoxo Liana

  • we do it before the wedding. for wishing luck and scare bad ghosts ;)

  • Good stuff Zip ; )

  • Hey Zipster..

Planes are as bad as Hospitals..germs everywhere, and no place to go but to make you sick!!

Glad to see another video by you!!

  • You know I have good taste, darling!!

  • wow that was very very interesting

  • haha. yeh we germans do a lot of crazy, useless but fun stuff on any occasions. haha. great video. :)

  • glad u had a good time, sucks you got a cold tho! dang, all those dishes. why dishes and not something else? why not pebbles and/or rocks ?.. or something..

  • The dishes were FUN!!

  • welcome home zipster. and it was probable that kuschelfraktion, that made the mess in the parking lot the second time....LOL

Sorry to hear that you caught a cold

  • No, Kuschelfraktion was with me and I guarantee we didn't return to the scene once we left!

  • Glad you are back safe and sound. Too bad about the cold. Get some air borne next time, it boosts your immune system.

  • Polterabend = how Germans recall dishes made in China:)

  • i envy you zip! u get to go to all these cool places and have these wonderful adventures!

  • I don't like that tradition. I'd have those creaps arested for vadialism.

  • feel better zippy

  • what a waster of dishes

  • Mr. Zipster, I hope that you feel better! There is nothing worse than having beautiful weather and feel like crap!

  • Maybe I'm just getting old, but I love crazy traditions. They add spice to life. Thanks.

  • Welcome home, Zip! Sorry to hear you caught a cold! Isn't that always the way? Airplanes are travelling germ boxes. All that nasty air just keeps recirculating. Why don't they open a window...at 20,000 feet? Get some fresh air in!!!

  • Damn the best man is sexy.

  • What a neat way to get the aggressions out!

    WELCOME HOME ZIPSTER!! PammieKay

  • Thanks!

  • I would like to do that some time soon. Maybe even tonight. ^O^O^

  • I want to break dishes!

  • DO IT!!

  • "oops tee hee hee" Too cute!

  • Glad you are back and on the mend!! That is one strange tradition!! Can't wait for the wedding footage!! Thanks, Grams

  • How smashingly fun! Wish I had been there. Hey Zip, did you know that at the end of all your videos, I wave back atcha???

  • That's so cute!!

  • Damn, that kid is beautiful!

  • Which kid? Are you talking about Kuschelfraktion?

  • Yes. And I don't just mean his appearance. He just seems like a nice, well adjusted young man.

  • He's a delight to be around!

  • Glad you're home safe and sound with your loved ones. Hope the cold thing didn't cramp your style too much singing at the wedding. Thanks for sharing the 'potty' footage. Crazy but what fun, much better than bringing a dish of food to a party! Cheers, Lesley

  • I sang like a damn bird!! A bird with a cold, but a bird none the less!!

  • What a strange custom!

  • I've been to one of these!! When my cousin in Germany got married, some one brought a dam toilet bowl to break too!! It was hilarious, i 'must have been about 8 or something. But i was like wait i can break dishes and not get in trouble for it!! hahah great video.. im now a subscriber!

  • Thanks!!

  • in danish we sometimes say things, that badly translate to english, but "things go/went in shards", or "and then we picked up the shards", about relationships of any kind, its the exact same word, as used for those bits, that the plates and so on, leave on the ground when broken =))

also i think its a symbolic, "can you" teaching, to pick up the pieces and keep doing it, plus its putting a strain on some and that shows there and then its doomed =))

    just my humble opinion =))

  • glad you're back safe and sound.I've been enjoying all of Paul and Peter's footage of the trip. Your fountain is looking great. I don't think Hell is that pretty. So interesting to see the dish-breaking ceremony. thanks for sharing and glad you're back.

  • Thanks for stopping by, my dear!!

  • AHHHHH-bend

  • I believe you caught that cold in 1963 sometime. Stop baming the kid on the plane...poor defenseless child.

  • Bitch!

  • fabulous! :D

  • Silly boy!!

  • Glad you enjoyed it.. hope you upload a lot of videos. :)

  • I have a cold too zip..

    The dish thing seems funn.

  • So glad you are back and that you had a GREAT time!! Dish-smashing--what a GREAT way to release the aggression or any pent-up anger you have!! LOL! Yes, it is HOT and HUMID over in Italy==FOR SURE :D CIAO!!

  • Glad you made it home safe, and had a great time!

I can't get over the dish thing! I thought it would be like five or ten plates at the most! That was wild!

    Great Video

    Brent

  • It was wild! They told me that sometimes guests bring sinks and toilets to smash as well!!

  • LMAO!

  • I missed ya, Zipster.

The first thing I thought of when you said the bride and groom had to clean up the mess so they could learn how to work together was that they'd end up through their marriage breaking dishes out of anger and this would be a good way to learn how to work together. Ha.

  • Exactly!!

  • I'm so glad that you had a good time. Too bad that you had to catch a cold while you were gone, though. o(^-^)o

  • That's life!

  • Damn kids and their illnesses! LOL! Sounds liek you had fun! I have something fun(maybe) to ask you. Youare in your 50's and you are gay. send me PM if you will, describing gay life growing up. U tell me your I'll tell ya mine..lol....even tho I am only 18 I have quite a coming out/growing up gay story!

  • I've kinda covered all that in my videos. I know...there are so many to go thru, but it's all in there!

  • Check out the Zipster playlist on my channel, you will find 'When did you know you were GAY'

  • Cool video. It is 37F here in rexburg right now. Summer is not here yet.

  • that's crazy, i've never heard of that before!

  • Strange habit ;)

  • cant wait to see more from your trip zip

  • Looking forward to more Euro clips, and especially news of Positive Sue. How is she? I miss her!

Get well soon. Watch out for an ear infection. Flying with a cold is dangerous, even the tail end of a cold.

  • Here I am....and I'm fine...thank you for asking! :))

  • Geeze thats almost like me on a Normal day!!!

I cant hold on to anything anymore and breakage is a happening daily!!!!

    Send me your extra glasses!!

  • Damn those sick little kids!

  • See, that's why paper plates rule!

  • I never though someone who is over 70 years old could be that cool...

  • Maybe you should check out his channel and you'll learn that he ISN'T that old!

  • Darn kid. You are super funny!

  • What is the reason for breaking plates? Looks like a mess to me. Glad to hear you had such a great time! I use to catch a really bad cold every single time I flew and would be sick the whole time I was on vacation. I finally learned my leason and went out and bought some disposable face masks and wear one every flight. I haven't gotten sick from flying since.

  • Check out the Zipster playlist on my channel...you will find 'When did you know you were GAY'

  • Oops, sorry....replied to the wrong person:)

  • Oh I can't stop laughing!!

  • MIKMA WAS HERE

  • What a great way to release some steam! I like this idea.

  • I think the cold would have come out earlier than the Friday if it had been caught then...more than likely you caught it on the day you left for Germany...I noticed Paul seemed to have one when we were travelling back from Peters' and you ha also been sharing a room with him:)

  • OMG...I so want to do that at my wedding!!

  • Great fun, Zipster! Hey! My man and I are getting legally hitched in California in July. Send plates.

  • I think the tradition would be even cooler if they threw them at the wife and groom.

  • We did that later in the evening!

  • looks alot better than throwing rice.

  • hey terry...good to see you home. glad you had a good time, even with the cold. take care. ((hugs)) love ya. ciao for now.

    your sweet potata....*tori*

  • That looks like a wonderful time... Although I have enough messes to clean up,so I'll give it the 50/50.. hehe... Thank you!

  • It looks like the 99 cent store is all out of dishes now!

  • That looked so much fun. Wish we did something like that.

  • The cure for a cold is too much Scotch. Now get going..shoo.

  • I'm just glad you are back, Sweetie!

  • y'know, I know all about kids sharing colds and germs. :( I have a four year old and catch everything he brings home from preschool. Bleh!

  • glad to hear you had fun...hope you get better soon...

  • Welcome home! I'm sorry you're sick, but oh man, did that look like an awesome trip! How cool to see new places and learn about new cultures. Thanks so much for letting us travel with you, Paul, Sue and all.

  • Welcome home, and I am glad you had a great time. Hope your feeling better soon.

  • Glad ya are back and have happy memories of your visit overseas.

  • so glad you had a great trip! sorry we couldn't be there this year to see you again but hey we had the pleasure of Huey and Tom come to stay as a result!

  • I wondered if you were going to be there, Rich.

  • Isn't is fun flying with SICK PEOPLE? The air gets circulated over and over and all the germs find the healthy to infect!! It's HORRIBLY HOT in the SF Bay Area, too!! It's 7:00 p.m. and it's STILL 95 outside!! YUCK!!

  • Wow how cool was that! Looks like it would had been fun well that part not the cleaning up part. Hope you feel better and happy you made it back home safe! Try too stay cool

  • welcome home.

  • Do they still decorate the hood of the car with flowers? I remember when I lived in Germany, they decorated the hoods really pretty flower boquets and adorned the door with flower garlands.

  • The "bride" car had a heart shaped wreath with roses...it was lovely!!

  • How cool...looked like a lot a fun. Look forward to seeing all the videos you took on your trip to Europe!!!!

  • LOL! that guy at the end who was having a blast was pretty funny :P

  • That was the Best Man!!

  • Zippy, I was to see if some old German would throw a dish at you. Glad to see that you survived.

    ;-{)

  • I like this having tons of ideas.. Did ya sing?

  • I sure did!!

  • You film it? I'm waiting lol.

  • Julian's dad did! I had the cam set up and forgot to turn it on!! As soon as I get the footage I'll post it! LOVE YOU!!!

  • lol @ the mickey mouse voices in the fast forward.

hey, they should have brought DIRTY dishes with sticky food on them, that would be even harder to clean up!

  • Believe me, you wouldn't have been able to understand them even at regular speed!! ;-)

  • Crazy Germans and their crazy wedding traditions.

  • What GREAT fun you must have had and what a super time with the boys. I hope Julian and his new wife and happy together forever. And it is so cool you were there to be part of all that. What great friends they are to you and vice versa. It's good to see you home - and I HOPE you get to feeling better from the cold. Summer colds are a different animal!! Remember THAT commercial? LYZ

  • It was AWESOME!! LYTD

  • What an odd tradition, but cool. Great to see you back home sweetie... Love ya!!!!

  • I totally got into it! I know you would have TOO!!

  • oh my god was spode plate getting smashed someone stop the fun those are expensive!! lol

  • Thanks for showing the plate smashing thingy-I never knew they did that. I know that greek weddings involve some smashing of plates, I think, actually, I don't know anything!

  • That's how I do dishes. Maybe that's why my wife doesn't like me to do them. :-)

  • They sweep together to learn how to work together? Hmm probably the one damn time the man will ever do housework!

Glad you had fun, sorry you got sick. I hate when people especially kids go out sick like that. I am a germaphob though

  • Kids carry so many illnesses! They're like teeny disease bags sometimes.

  • And they're STICKY!!

  • Hey Zipster,

Just thought I'd do a quick comment telling you I think you are an inspiration to youtubers everywhere. When I get my camera [in a few days, hopefully], I'll be sure to do a video response to several of your videos. There are some things I want to discuss with you, but I don't have enough characters to do it here, so I'll probably wait for my Camera and do it in a video. Hopefully, you'll respond to my videos and we can communicate. For now, have a good one!

    Sincerely,

    Wil

  • I look forward to it!!

  • you aren't Zipster08 =/

  • What are you talking about?

  • ZipsterResponds is a different Channel than Zipster08. I assumed ZipsterResponds isn't you, but a fake or something.

  • zipsterresponds IS me!!!

  • Ok. Thanks for the clarification. =] I was just making sure zipsterresponds wasn't a fake. take care. =]
