  • hahaha 4:20 u did that on purpose right??

  • nice review but your voice puts me to sleep

  • thanks i know which brand i will buy now.

  • So what sites can you find the gshock for the 150 price?

  • @mrjink123 Try Princeton Watches.

  • Yah just to let you know the Cheapest model of the Core you can find online for around 220 dollars, the most expensive all aluminum model you can find 375.

  • Yah just to let you know the Cheapest model of the Core you can find online for around 220 dollars, the most expensive all aluminum model you can find 375.

  • The seconds display on the pathfinder would drive me nuts. the numbers should be smaller and spaced out more. It makes reading the time confusing.

  • casio pathfinder's have solar so no battery replacements needed unlike the suunto 's i used both watches but pathfinder is better because of solar. Means one less battery when out in the bush

  • The dual color display from Casio, especially in compass mode, kick any Suunto's ass from far away... It displays angle + north + 3 other points using blue lines. Efficient to use, much more than a Suunto side by side on a map... I tried both in desert, and I won't go there with a Suunto. Why ? Casio is solar. I won't end up with a dead watch when battery dies as the Suunto. Easy to use single handed, using one button per main function. Color dual LCD, more efficient. Suunto = battery = bad...

  • The PRG40 is too old. To have it fair, you need to compare it to a model with sun up/down like the PRG-240. The casio is easier to use on field : one button per function, it's easy and you use one hand. The suunto problem is you end up playing with a lot of buttons, on both sides to get the same stuff you get from the Casio, using one button, one hand. Suunto looks great for its display, sucks when it comes to using it on field, for real using only one hand and keeping it simple and stupid.

  • it is PAG40 pathfinder.and it is an older model too.

  • This watch isnt part of the pathfinder family of watches, it belongs to the Pro-trek one. PRG-40-3V to be exact. Get your facts straight.

  • @YamatanoOrochi1 casio they are more reliable and they are like the leader in digital watches

  • Really great video, thanks.

  • great review

  • Nice review!

Suunto really needs to work on their display. The reverse is way too difficult to read. I looked at one at a store yesterday and could barely read what time it was. I have a PAG40 and love it. I'm thinking of getting a Suunto Core next, but with the positive display style.

  • My Fav CASIO PAG40 Yea the Casio pag40 is not stamped G-Shock. But it does look like a mean do anything anytime watch! 57.0 x 53.8 x 17.9mm / 74g The down sides of this casio vs newer paw versions. You cant monitor Baro trends in time keeping mode. No countdown timer. On the Plus Sides, You can Monitor baro temp altim for up to 12HRS. without the watch returning to time keeping. My Paw1300 will always return after a few minutes even if Im recording in Alt Gain.

  • This is due to the Batteries and Solar powered. The Paw1300 does not have 4 batteries to use so It will save as much as it can "Smart Watch" Even goto sleep in darkness as long as its not moved. Where as the PAG40 has 4 SivOxi batteries and it really don't care how much you use. Don't worry these batteries are Very Cheap, 2 to 3 bucks each - 10 12 bucks and With Heavy Use of the watch, they will give you 6-9 months. If you never use the sensors and backlight it will stretch out to 3+yrs.

  • OK, So why get the basic Model PAG40. My BIG reason, To see the Screen. The PAW1300 Compass is so hard to Read/Follow. It must be close to your face to even see it. The Pag40 You CAN see the compass 5FT away with the Blueish tinted Compass LCD. Very Clean and Very very Clear LCDs. You can get a PAG40 for under 100 bucks now. There are a few versions which are Colors Black, Green, Blue and Band Choices Hard Black or Soft Canvas. The Canvas band is very Comfy. Paw1300 200 USD

  • What Reloj for Women Or Woman?

  • it is g shock co\ it as a g shock case- pressure case with seven total gaskets

  • well done videos...

  • Ok, sorry. I just read the introduction.

  • I'm confused. Why are you calling the Casio watch a G-shock? Isn't it a Pathfinder/Pro Trek?

  • SUUNTO= Engineered in Finland, made in CHINA! Beware.

  • great video. but didnt like the constant swollowing down the mic

  • Yeah, I don't like it either. The mic is really sensitive. I'll see if I can fix this in future videos.

  • @nikudes The Suunto will not hold up. I have had both watches. The Suunto bezel will completely wear off in contact with clothes, the bezel scratches in contact with grit in the air and the band will not support even casual use. The Casio, uglier , harder to read and not as accurate will last a lifetime.

Comming from two tours of Iraq, S.A., and 6 years of missions with the Casio. Semper Fi.

  • @mecover I appreciate your service and your feedback. It sounds like I can stick by my "Suunto Core is like an Audi. Casio Pathfinder is like a Toyota" analogy.

  • @antwasere swollowing down the mic.... you have got to be kidding...get a life. the video was very informative and clear. Get a life.

  • @antwasere your price is about a 100 dollars more than i paid for my all black suunto witch is the same model just different color so thus i would pick the suunto over a cruddy pathfinder or g shock regardless the compass on a suunto is far better as well the other functions will out do it in technical accuracys so i guess its basically what your style is

  • Nice video, however you CAN NOT compare watches that are $150-Casio and $300-Suunto.

It's like comparing Huyndai Ellantra to a BMW 3 series, they are both cars and have 4 wheels and Air Con etc. Clearly in different league

  • @i8Europe Why not? The Casio in this case is better or at the very least very competitive against the Suunto even though it's much cheaper. You can't even see anything on the Core..

  • @i8Europe Well, I thought it was a fair comparison given the similar feature set, though I agree that they are in different leagues. I think the analogy I used was Toyota vs Audi. One's tough and basic and gets the job done. The other is sleeker, has more features, but also has its quirks. Glad you liked the video anyway.

  • I REALLY like the Suunto Core, but I am extremely worried about: 1) Battery Life, 2) They say its FRAGILE, is this true? 3) They say it has a lot of electronic glitches. Too bad is too damn pricey..

  • i have the Protrek PRG-80YT since 1yr, just after 1yr a 1 month, no fonction is working compass,Barometerm,Altimeter,Adjust and light. Only at the date area is written "OPEN" could someone explain on this. I sent the watch at the delear, they said they can't open the watch???

  • @dlegeant77 The ""OPEN" indicated means the dealer did in fact open the watch. They probable lost one or both of the contact springs that makes connectiont to the back cover. Without those the circuit is open. I doubt the dealer was an official casio dealer.

  • time to light up brother. great review.

  • IT'S 4:20 HELL YEAH!

  • One thing you neglected to mention or otherwise did not know.

The Core is "Designed in Finland" but MADE IN CHINA!!

It says so right on the bottom. which is a huge deal.

  • 10 atm or bar is about 100 meters or 330 ft. Not bad for either.

  • Casio pathfinder look just better to me....

  • @quiteobserver cause suunto watches may look good but they suck.

  • @ravi930 agree ....i got Casio Riseman approx. 5 months ago and it does work great !!! The altimeter is really precise and the whole of the watch is simply amazing

  • Did you try already the new

CASIO PAW1500T-7V I do have one, and I am thinking of making a review like you did !

Thanks Again for the great reviews you made !

  • can you make a video for the alarms on the watches... Like how loud are they..

    wich one is louder.

     Thanks

  • haha...420

  • Great video, any chance you could make a comparison in between a Casio PAW 1500 and a Suunto Core?, I think that would be a nice to see, Thanks!

  • you said 10 bar = 30 feet. actually =100 meeters. if you look at the manual it even states water resistant to 100m. (source: PADI Underwater Manual)

  • Technically you're right. 10 bar is the pressure generated at about 100m of depth. A watch rated as water resistant to 10 bar or 100m is recommended only for snorkeling though, which in practical terms means about 30 ft. The reason is that as you move the watch underwater, you generate more pressure on it in much the same way that air exerts pressure on your body when you move through it on a bike. Limiting the depth to snorkeling just provides a large safety factor.

  • I dont see how that makes sense. 100m is 328ft, which is more than 10x what you are saying.. If they meant 30ft, they would say 30ft, not 328ft. Other than that, great review and video.

  • Thanks, glad you liked the rest of the video. As far as the depth rating, I don't think I can explain it any better and I'm not an expert on the science. All I know is that every watch I've seen that's rated water resistant to 100m is only suitable for snorkeling depths. If you search for "Water Resistant Mark" on Wikipedia, you'll find an article that goes into more detail.

  • Yea, I missed a very key phrase. Water Resistant to 100m. Oops, hehe. Thanks again and your videos definitely helped me make the decision as to what my new watch will be. :)

  • Its pathfinder not G-Shock.

  • its true what he says..

waterresistant and all this stuff is kinda tricky...

if the watch is waterresistant up to 10 or 30 meters you shouldnt even go swimming or showering with it..

the only watches that i know of are khs military watches and all the similar builded watches..

they are waterresistant up to 30meters but they are builded after another norm (some military norm)

so i guess they have to go through a different pressure test...

these watches seem to stand against much higher pressures

  • When a watch manufacturer says "WR 200m" it doesn't really mean it will not have water ingress at 660 feet. It's simply a sort of "classification" Generally, people say that the true WR is a bit less than 1/3 of what it says.

On the other hand, if it says "DIVE 200m" it is most likely manufactured to ISO 6425 standards, so it has been pressure tested to 125% of what is marked on the watch.

And keep in mind that a plastic case will be relatively hard to make WR at 200 meters...

  • @Halfzipp

    read on casios website

it says there that these 100 meters are no underwatermeters

  • @seabass132003, @nikudes I loved the video as well and used it when researching my ABC. I bought a Casio Pathfinder PAG240 but am back watching b/c I'm thinking about buying a Suunto Core as well. Anyway, not to revisit this one, but I *think* that a watch rated at 10Bar is technically only rated to go to 90 meters. Sea level (0 meters) is 1 bar (1 atmosphere), so 10 meters deep would be 2 Bar, which means 10 Bar would only be 90 meters. Is this right?

  • good review, thx.

  • Comment removed

  • Great review. Good compare of two interesting watches. I have one question: Have you any experience with the Suunto Core depth meter? I can see that Suunto state that this watch can measure water depths up to 30 meter(?) can you confirm this? And how is that logged in the watch memory? /Peter

  • Thanks, glad that you liked it. I haven't taken the watch snorkeling but the manual says that the max. depth measurement is 10 meters (32.8 ft.). I'm pretty sure it records depth logs the same way as altitude logs. I made a video of the log function. It's in the "Related Videos" box on the right. It's called "Suunto Core Review, New Band and Log Function." That'll give you a good idea of how it works.

  • What Model was the Casio you used for the review and what is the display diameter please

  • In the video I mention that it's 51mm across the case. The model is PAG40-3V.

  • so, which watch you recon?

  • I've been wearing the Suunto all the time lately. It does everything and the interface has a lot of depth and a lot of features.

  • What is the face diameter on the Pathfinder as i always associate Casio with kids watches as they are so small.

  • It's massive. The case is 53mm across. (The Suunto is 49mm.) It's not heavy though. It weighs just over 2-1/2 ounces. (The Suunto is just under 2-1/2 ounces.)

  • Suunto Core still has some problems and bugs

  • Does the pathfinder watch shown in that video have atomic timing or some crap where it adjusts itself to the correct time?

  • That one doesn't...

  • I do have PAW 1500T 7V. Do you have plans to make a review of the model?

    Greets for these reviews !

  • Suunto Core is not "from Finland". Suunto is, but the Core is made in China.

  • It's be too sily to doubt.

  • This is great and informative video, but man's spitgulping sound is so annoying :(

  • why there are diffrent scores: ali(casio:580 sunnto:340), compass ( on casio:139 on sunnto 200) etc on this watches

  • My mistake, I didn't zero them correctly. Also the Suunto can calculate true north whereas the Casio only registers magnetic north.

  • great video, I've been comparing these two trying to decide which to get and you summed it all up for me, thank you

  • Thanks for the info'. Good camera work.

  • That's not a Casio g-shock, neither Pathfinder, Thats a PROTREK PRG-40....

  • Mine says "Pathfinder" on the case but I checked on the Casio site and it is known as the Protrek in the UK.

  • the Pathfinder isn't a G-Shock i thought o_O

  • OMG, are you Clint Eastwood's son? You have his voice!!

  • Huh, always wondered why I never looked like my parents. Funny...

  • you camtured this video in two days right ?

  • it took five, i think...

  • Really great review, thanks!

  • This video is fantastic, I was tossing these two watches up and you've help me greatly.

  • thanks, glad to hear that it helped!

  • It's not G Shock but Pathfinder...

  • You have the exact same voice as Clint Eastwood. Seriously. :D

So do you feel lucky, punk? XD

  • Haha, that's the first time I've ever heard that but thanks.

  • thanks for the video, I like the way you compared those watches.

I appreciate the informations you gave us, because on both internet pages of Casio and Suunto they will always tell you that THEIR products are the best, without weaknesses =)

  • Im sorry, i wrote that prior to reading your full comment section. =) Great video tho. Very informative, I have both this pathfinder, as well as the PAW 1300.

  • No worries! Glad you liked the video.

  • Very indept review. However, w/ ref to the Casio. It is not considered a "G-Shock".

  • You're right. I mention this in the comment section. For some reason I assumed it a G-Shock but it's a Pathfinder. Kind of a glaring goof.
