I tried to do this with my Scala Rider headset and it didn't work either. I came to the same conclusion. When I spoke with tech support they just said it will not work. Unbelievable that they could include an option and not document it at all.
Once you update your TomTom Go 720 you lose bluetooth.
Then its time to throw it in the trash if you want hands free.
I had bluetooth for a long time and was happy but once I updated it the damn thing never worked again.
It can find my bluetooth phone and my phone can find it but the tomtom refuses to allow it to stay connected. It is a bug with the new update and after a year it is yet to be fixed.
Shoppers: TomTom's no longer offer FM transmitting of voice instruction but TomTom & its retailers continue to FALSELY ADVERTISE the feature.
Existing TomTom users: if you update firmware above 8.01 you LOSE the feature also. TomTom has disabled this feature for the entire world. Garmin, took a much more logical approach & only disabled it in 2 European countries that ban FM tranmission.
BUY THE GARMIN - better maps and no tricky updates or false advertising.
can u pls tell me how can beh possibible to change "0000" pin codes for bluetooth connection?i got 8.011 navcore and it ask just for 0000 codes, but my bluetooth car kit gots 1234 help me pls
One device pairs with another. When this is done, one code is set for both devices.
When you attempt to pair a phone for example with a car kit, your car kit asks your phone to enter the correct code in order to accept the pairing. Therefore you would use 0000 which the car kit would accept as the correct code to pair with it, accepting your phone's request to pair with it.
Basically, enter the code of the device you are trying to connect to.
The bluetooth integration on the GO 930 should function fine on any bluetooth-enabled phone. With that said, some phone manufacturers make connecting to certain bluetooth devices more difficult than others. I haven't come across an instance of anyone having trouble with the w580, and it should work great
you dont need bluetooth to have sound come through your car speakers, all you have to do is set you gps to a frequency of 92 or 92.1 and the same with the car radio it will play cystal clear sound, its amazing the technology these days!
True, you can do this without Bluetooth, but you need an FM modulator. Otherwise, there's nothing transmitting the signal to your stereo. The GO 930 can do that with its FM modulator
The 720 is the same as the 920 and the 520. Only difference between them is the 720 comes with European maps and the 920 has USA Maps and a bluetooth remote control. So its pointless sending back a 720 to get a 920 unless you need the USA maps. As they all have the same features (Voice Control FM Transmitter, mobile phone control etc).
Guys check the specs before commenting, there are LOADS of inaccuracies on peoples comments. The Go Range (520 720 920 are all the same, except for different maps and larger SD cards).
The TomTom will connect to the iPhone and you can upload your address book and control you phone from it. You can not use the iPhone as a modem to connect and obtain traffic and weather
TOMTOM 720 bluetooth work only with GSM phone , I bought TOMTOM 720 Yesterday but I am going to return it , I am going to get TOMTOM 920 this device have voice command and some more extra
It does both - it pairs with a phone, and it can pair with a car kit for audio out. That's why the description for this video begins "The TT720 can do x, y and z for audio out".
The TomTom Go 520 is EXACTLY the same as the 720 which is the same as the 920,only difference is the 720 has European maps and the 920 has a remote control and USA Maps. All go models are the same. So why cant you get voice commands to work on the 720?
A2DP isn't a Bluetooth 2.0 spec -- there are plenty of Bluetooth 1.2 A2DP devices (think of IPV4 vs IPV6 as the core BT revision, and A2DP being something like the Flash version running in your web browser).
None the less, there aren't many A2DP Bluetooth carkits out. Cars are notoriously slow at picking up new gadgets, but many of the 2008 and 2009 model year cars should have A2DP support.
To use bluetooth handsfree, select "mobile phone" from the main menu and follow instructions.
Interested to know if you get it working though as I have had 2 go720's sync'd with 3 different approved mobile handsets. I can hear callers clearly, but all they can hear is buzzing. Finally sent my go720 back.

Bluetoothed easy with Sony Ericsson W810i BUT the sound coming from a phone call is so damn low you cannot hear the call.
So beware, if you are thinking of buying it for this feature then i would say DON'T.
I would appreciate though, someone telling me a way around the internal speaker (no, it does not transmit to radio unfortunatley).

The GO has a FM transmitter that will be picked up by ANY FM radio.

Tomtom 720 bluetooth will act as a car kit once connected. You are suppose to set it up with your mobile phone not your car kit.

Your problem is the well-documented complaint about the TT720 microphone. That's why it has occured for you with all three handsets.
This video however is about a different and unrelated bluetooth option (to pair with a car kit, not a mobile phone).
