With all this hype around the shipping of the new iPhone 4g people lining up around the world to get the new gadget. All sorts of reports emerged ranging from the lucky owners' exultation to news about the hardware glitches.
But this clip exposes the iPhone 4g from rather unexpected perspective. Russian president Medvedev visited Silicon Valley, met Steve Jobs (gosh, Steve does look skinny) and played with the new iPhone 4g before it was released to the broad public.
And Medvedev became the first (or somewhere around that) proud owner of the iPhone 4g.
Medvedev's visit to the Silicon Valley is a demonstration of the new Russian focus on developing IT industry in the Mother Land. Soviet sciences had some great traditions. Unfortunately those traditions and achievements were not extended to the computer hardware and software area. Tetris and Kasperski antivirus come to my mind about the few programs originated from Russia.
But hopefully, this situation is going to change with Russian lunching the Skolkovo project, the Russian analog of the Silicon Valley. I like the idea. At least it gives the entrepreneurs and developers around the world another option to realize their dreams and ambitions.
Well, there is no AT&T in Russia (thanks god). I heard iPhone works great with local providers - no problems with dropped calls so far.
Oh, and I really-really hope Steve Jobs gave Medvedev unlocked iPhone, lol.
