I don't get the "killed under controlled circumstances by a veterinarian" Vets use drugs to put horses down...once done, that animal can't enter the food chain of other animals!! So the vet must have used another method?? Or do you mean a vet was there whilst the horse was killed either by bullet or knife?? Either way I wouldn't like to think a lion was feeding on my once loved horse

Lions have to eat large quantities of fresh meat to stay healthy. No one did anything wrong here, and the horse was probably killed humanely prior to being deposited in the lion pen.
