There are very few wild tigers left in China. So the majority of the tiger parts are definitely from farmed tigers.

Though I am completely against tiger farming, isn't all types of animal farming the same? The animals are kept in bad conditions, fed food not suitable for them, and are killed in painful ways. Those of us who eat meat actually should have no right to be disgusted at this farming tigers(eating them is still...) In my opinion, the "Chinese Way" of eating meat is the best, every part of the animal is eaten, none wasted. If you want to kill an animal to eat, don't waste any of it. (I'm vegetarian)

Tigers are not a natural man-eater, most tigers avoid humans even if it means abandoning meal. The man eaters of the species hunt humans because they are older tigers and other prey is to hard to catch. Besides hunting humans is no where near as cruel as what is done to animals raised in slaughter houses.

Getting the word out and making the media focus on it does some good. The Chinese government is very worried about appearances and when it can no longer hide embarrassments or explain them away, they change. Don't be too hard on Chinese in general, their domestic big cat rescue has done a lot of good and you have a younger generation changing their mind. Most Chinese Internet users bypass government censors and visit foreign sites for news, so it does have an effect.

You must understand what these Chinese want is namely DOMESTICATION OF TIGERS as animals of commercial use - their government knows that they can not re-educate people about Tigers and in the meantime the species dies out. Farm tigers aren't wild animals, it is the first step to a commercially used animal like mink, etc. The color variations which aren't common in nature also appear and are popular - white, albino and golden tigers. Tiger farms should be handled as farmed animal welfare issue.

5% of that WILL use tiger products.
That is 67 million people - rich Chinese expats not included.
Versus 3000 wild tigers, 7-8000 Zoo tigers and 4000 farmed tigers.
This means wild tigers are more or less DOOMED - there is demand for all of them. Do the maths.

There are very few wild tigers left in China. So the majority of the tiger parts are definitely from farmed tigers.
Tiger farming preserve these precious animals. I say keep 'm. Closing down these farms will have the opposite effect because the trading will go underground and then the wild tigers are the ones being suffered because all parts will come from them.

Tigers cannot be conserved without a proper organised breeding program and studd book plus most of these farmed tigers will be of mixed subspecies thus making them useless for breeding programs. Plus keeping tigers in those disgusting conditions cant really be called conservation.Trade in tiger parts is meant to be illegal, the only way to stop it is to ban all trade as its impossible to distinguish between farmed and wild tiger parts.

It is china's problem as it is the demand for tiger parts from china that fuels the poaching of tigers in India. 95% of chinese people say they happily abstain from using tiger parts to protect the tiger, so they obviously dont feel it is needed in their culture especially as there are alternative herbs that can be used.

I never said anything about conservation. The purpose of a tiger farm is obvious. Hence why its called tiger farming. The idea is to raise tigers for needed parts. Without these tigers, poachers will drive the few remaining wild tigers extinct. Period.

Though I am completely against tiger farming, isn't all types of animal farming the same? The animals are kept in bad conditions, fed food not suitable for them, and are killed in painful ways. Those of us who eat meat actually should have no right to be disgusted at this farming tigers(eating them is still...) In my opinion, the "Chinese Way" of eating meat is the best, every part of the animal is eaten, none wasted. If you want to kill an animal to eat, don't waste any of it. (I'm vegetarian)

Tigers are not a natural man-eater, most tigers avoid humans even if it means abandoning meal. The man eaters of the species hunt humans because they are older tigers and other prey is to hard to catch. That or they are tigers that have been around the dead bodies floating around in rivers in india and have devoloped a taste for human flesh because it is what they have been eating for so long. Besides hunting humans is no where near as cruel as what is done to animals raised in slaughter houses.

I don't believe in killing people or animals... And while the Chinese are starting to realize this, their government, and a majority of their people have not. These animals belong in the wild, and should not be hunted.

Whats that background music its awe inspiring. I do care about tiger farming its a serious issue. Animals shouldn't be treated like this; but if a tiger started to attack me, I'd take a gun out and shoot it. Yes i like tigers but not nearly as much as I like human beings.

Animalcruelty is everywhere; fishing, pets, mass-industry, testing and so on. But China is known for skinning and boiling animals alive. Because they believe that the more the animal suffers, the more adrenalin, the better it taste. Also for killing animals to eat their pricks because they think it enhances their health. And than I don't talk about human rights violations and the practice of eating human fetus. It's not the people's fault but the government, they should educate and inform them.

If you think this is bad, you should look at Bear Farming. They are farmed for their paws, and in order to keep them fresh, their paws are only cut off when an order comes in... The bear will then lose its limbs one by one...

The problem with you people is you think "it can't hurt," but that's because you don't understand how people think and feel. The Chinese government doesn't give a damn, that's a guarantee, but aside from that, it's more key to understand, they HATE you. To them, you're just another rich, bored American with nothing better to do than complain. So when they hear you all protesting the tiger abuse, they're far more likely to react by doing what the Americans hate.
