Great music - For years, I have been trying to find out the name of the tune. I heard it first time long ago while visiting UK and could not get it out of my head. No other music I know builds up the excitement before watching sports events better than this. Where did enthusiasm go?

Oh the Memories this was great Saturday viewing in our house. I don't remember the full version ever being played on the TV. You guys are right this is one of the best songs and makes you smile each time you hear. Shove Sky sports this was pure entertainment. BBC PLEASE BRING IT BACK!!!!

It wasn't created by the BBC. It was just stock music from the KPM library, composed by Alan Hawkshaw. The BBC just used it for Grandstand.
