you have to be aware of daniels confidence and his illness when this videos was made. he hasnt got very good confidence so when he makes a mistake he loses it by making a joke. and also i think he got a form of throat "illness" at this point. so i wouldnt judge him too much right now. even in the diorama days, he had bad confidence. so i generally dont judge him that much. hes a great songwriter (and singer) in general, so lets leave it at that.

I find quite the contrary to be true. Everyone I know who smokes pot actually gets better vocal control, including myself. Almost all my favorite singers smoke lots of pot too. Even Aaron from Staind is a huge pothead (whether or not you like their music, that dude can sing really well)

I could never look at any silverchair performance as vocally lacking- you ave to look at their entire collection of songs to see how vocally challenging they all are. Daniel Johns is FANTASTIC- for someone who had been so ill, its amazing he is able to perform at all.

Daniel had reactive arthritis and they weren't sure if he'd ever be able to perform live again. But anyways, i agree that he can still hit those high notes, but his falsetto seems like it's alot weaker than it has ever been before. It's probly due to his smoking.

He just couldn't keeping singing those high notes in the song's ending, so he just cut it off. It mean to be 4 screams, he just did 2... It lets me down, as I feel the song's feeling a little distorced.

But it's a good perfomance at all, and that guitar in the second part fits the song very well.

I've been following this band since I was 13, and it has always and only gotten better and better. the original paul mac and dj with "rain" and then Diorama blew me away.... and then them forming the dissociatives, and straight lines has done the same.
