@newark51000 Genesis sucks! Why? First of all they use synthesizers to play their dull old people music. Playing a synthesizer requires no skill to give an illusion of "good" music and cover the other crappy sounds of the song especially if you play it at the super slow motion speed they do it. Do I even have to mention how they abuse the other instruments they play by not putting them into their full potential.
@dezao9legal You don't know what your talking about. A Synthesizer requires a lot of skill. And Phil Collins did this song back in the 80s, when Synthesizers were used a lot in music. Phil Collins was a professional drummer (which is how he got in Genesis) It's obvious you don't know much him or Synthesizers. Pink Floyd used synths in their music too.
If your going to be a Troll and start running your mouth before a public video, at least act like you know what your talking about.

as popularized by phil collins..... WRONG. As a classic genesis fan i do like phil's solo stuff. I get very miffed when people who claim to be huge genesis fans think that every ballad that genesis produce is down to phil. Tony Banks has been and always will be the best song writer from genesis. all the band members who have been with genesis all agree that over the years and all the solo projects that they have been in, Genesis is Tony Banks Solo career.
SOME ARE..MOST ARENT..SOME ARE LOVING AND MAYBE, WE AS GUYS ARE FUCKING UP SOME OF OUR RELATIONSHIPS.....I KNOW I DID AND STILL AM PAYING THE PRICE FOR IT...NOW, TIME TO MOVE ON AND FIND ANOTHER 'PERFECT' GAL...THEY'RE ALL TAKEN....
AND WHEN I DO FIND MS RIGHT, I WONT GET IN TOO DEEP....TIL WE BOTH KNOW WHERE WERE BOTH GOING IN LIFE, TOGETHER AND AS INDIVIDUALS ALSO....
These people on here are idiots. This song came out way before Christian Bale ever said that so he stole it from Phil Collins. Get your facts straight before u talk..stupid. This song is Brilliant and Beautiful and full of meaning and that's why it is so popular.
"Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism."
I just spent 6 minutes watching some idiot do the angst walk and I still don't know what the message of the song is....I love you, but you don't love me enough, but I'm in it for the long haul, or at least I was until I figured out that you weren't ?

@magicdisco90 I saw an old interview with Collins on Phil Donahue and someone asked Phil what his inspiration for this song was. He said that Mike actually wrote it. Those were his words, not mine.
Love is always a gamble really cause for something that can last our whole lives its gonna always be subject to change.....phil collins had a horrible wife which is why when he makes songs like this he can hit the nail on the head with words
when you are a little older, and experienced in life then maybe -YOU will find yourself trapped - where you genuinely love a woman - who does NOT love you.......
A woman cynically using you and exploiting you financially,.believe me - - rip off women exist

maybe you are too young, start byreading lyrics, then go back in time, yes, the days of Peter Gabriel, it all makes perfect sense, we get old and go from a crazy life to a more calm state of mind; then you'll die and you probably never understand like i don't either. Whatta clusterfuck is life dude.
