Yeah guitarra, best to leave the drugs out. The hard work and the sense of self accomplishment are taken away by drug enhancements. Winning is great, but certainly not everything. Giving it our best shot, our hard dedicated work in training, this is where the honor is. To be able to walk away with our heads high is what really matters. Keeping the faith.

The video is great speaking from the standpoint of a regularly training canoer; with one problem the last photo of people canoeing states that it is also a C-4, I dono about you but I think fitting 4 people into that boat would be a little complicated.

Well it matters what you like some people like nelos others plastex and so on, so on. There are so many different companies that make flat water boats. I like the style of nelos but i paddle a plastex...

I've recently tried a few boats; Nelo Vanquish II, Regatta 2000, Vajda Supersonic and Accelero, Plastex Olympic Warrior and in the end bought an Epic Legacy.

It does depend what you want though; I found the Nelo and Regatta very similar (hmmm....) and they were good for my technique, but of those I didn't buy I would have gone for the Supersonic.

The Legacy was a clear winner for me though; comfy and fast (though the high backed seat it came with rubbed my arse raw to start with).

a very good sport. I do canoeing in Ireland and train everyday. We have some paddlers going to the olympics and they train 6-15 hours and really push themselves to the lmiit. Some of the marathoon races are alot linger than 35km aswell. I seen some that were for 35-50km. New gear and state of the art expensive boats you can really feel the burn and push your body till it cant go any more. through disipline and hard honest training.

The only one who can think that there are no drugs in the canoe kayak is a noobie or an amateur... But if you have ever practised professionally, in a country with sporting traditions/not like Portugal who has only one sport in which has won a gold medal in the olympics/ you would know quite enough not to talk things like this... however, the sport is indeed interesting for watching and beautiful... But still... :(

Hm... Interesting... I was not able to see anything about the drugs used in this sport...

And please do not tell me that they do not exist... 20 years ago at a kayak race we were able to see a start for 200m, then decreasing of the energy and changing of the tempofor 500-600m and then final... Nowadays the paddlers are only increasing their speed from the start... Noone decreases... What are they now? Superheroes??? Supermen??? Or just new testers of pharmaceutical drugs?

A lot of it has to do with modern boat and paddle designs. As the sport becomes more popular - not just the racing aspect - young people will continue to push the limits of what we can do in a kayak. For instance, modern playboats can spin very easily on every axis (i.e. loops, flatspins, cartwheels) where it was virtually - if not completely - impossible to loop in an old school long boat.

lol man i used to paddle with one of those wood paddles,and was really hard!!!one time i got to be in a k4 with my wood paddle and the rest of them with the new tipe of paddles,i was dead meat.i wasn't able to keep up with the tempo!i believed there was something wrong with me :P but 2 mounths after that i got a new paddle and paddled again with those guys,ha for me that time it felt like i was paddling thru air was soo easy

yeahh man these guys are right. im a padler too, from portugal, and we are always looking forward to push our limits. but this isnt only in this sport, it aplies on every single sport. how do you think atletes break world records? its through hard working train and always push our limits. and sometimes its trhough drugs lol, but its only sometimes, seriosly. have faith on us

actually, the reason for this is because of the different phases in the sprint. Nowadays, most paddlers have different point where they apply different amounts of power. They use alot at the beginning, then they go at a moderate tempo (fast but not 100%), and at the end they give it all they got righ up until the finish line. This is atleast how I've seen it done by the people in my club. I'm new, so i've still got a long way to go before that level... :)
