My ADF are males and they are doing that. Its not down as low. It looks like its sufficating the other. Is that bad?

when you found the eggs in the tank, where did you move them to? is it okay to keep them in a bowl of clean, dechlorinated water with a heater? how long does it take for them to hatch? i just discovered some eggs in my tank and I'm freaking out because i have no clue what to do lol

@XxJupiterCrystalxX I moved the eggs into a small container that I filled with water from the aquarium. I had no intentions of keeping the eggs because I have no room and no equipment to raise them. There is a link in the video description that goes to a helpful website I found on ADF breeding. It should answer some of your questions. Good luck! :)

@XxMarleyxX08 Yeah, you could. If you leave it in the tank, the frogs will think it's food and eat it. If you want to try to hatch the eggs, seperate them from the parents.

Well I read that if you leave the eggs in the tank, they will eat them before they hatch. Some animals do that when in a smaller space then the wild.

you probably killed half the frogs when you were messing with them with the sppon just saying.... when they are soo small like that they are sooo fragile that even if you blow on them it can crush them... so be carefull!!

my ADF are obviously males becuz they fight ALOT like at night, but i noticed that they tend to like cling onto eachother as if they're mating. i c then actually take turns doing that or sunthin. i just wanna know if thats natural or sumthin

Im not an expert on frogs or anything but I know that sometimes males of certain species will mount each other or look as if theyre mating to show dominance. That could be what your frogs are doing.

Hm.. well I cant really recommend one or the other because Ive never owned a tree frog so I dont know what its like to care for them. Try researching a bit on how to care for tree frogs vs. dwarf frogs and see which one you feel better about.

to tell if a male is a male it a has a pinkish or whitish pimple under the armpit

success! my adf laid eggs, but i didnt take them out fast enough, so they ate most of it. i have 5 left. hope they all survive..(crossing fingers)

Originally I had two frogs. One male and one female. Then I got three more from the store. And after a while amplexus was rampant around the tank. They laid some eggs and I separated them from the main tank. The thing about eggs is not to let them reach air because they die. And you have to really watch them and take care of them. I think it took about 6-8 weeks for full maturation. You also have to feed them sea monkeys, which i hatched in two different mason jars about 24 hours apart.

i saw mine do this the other day. i always though they were all males. i have to check if there are eggs. so if they do the mating dance, does that mean that there will be eggs for sure?

Haha I thought my frogs were both males too but it turns out I was wrong.. : ( Im no expert on frogs but I do know that some male animals tend to do stuff to show dominance and such. For instance, theres a type of monkey that actually mounts other male monkeys. So yours might still be both male but its just their behaviour ? Even if one is female, I dont think there's a 100% chance of them making eggs. The female usually balloons up because shes full of eggs. Hope that helps !

the one that got mounted was big...prego? i heading to the pet shop and getting a bigger tank. i have 4 of them in there..and its less than a gallon tank. did you end up keeping all the tadpoles? btw, thanks for the vid!

Aw, thats cool. I didnt keep the tadpoles because I didnt have the money, space or time to raise them. It would be pretty cool to see them go from tadpole to frog though. Do you think youll keep yours if your frogs lay eggs ? I read that tadpoles need a very specific environment to grow in so it can be a challenge to raise them. Not impossible though : )

Im so confused I have two Dwarf frogs. And there are some little tiny red dots on top of a big rock-castle decoration. And i dont even know if they are frog eggs or what. In the tank ( 75 gallon ) I have several friendly fish, i cant figure the dots out though. Any one hav a clue?

If theyre red dots, they might be fish eggs because frog eggs are brown.

Well, thats totally up to you. If the eggs are getting in the way, you can take them out and put them in a seperate container. Its actually really cool to see the tadpoles though. But if you do decide to wait, what will you do with all the tadpoles ? Apparently its really hard to raise them, the temperature of the water is very specific and you have to buy a different type of food and even then, a lot of them dont make it.

i got 2 ADF's and there was a boy and a girl. i didnt pay much attention to them daily but one day my male died. then one day i spotted a pair of eggs and soon found more and more all over the tank. mine arent like yours though cuz yours are all single. my eggs were in packs of alot. then the female also died except in the smaller tank. now im wondering if the male got a chance to fertilize the eggs before he died. so now my question is how long it took your eggs to hatch?

Hm.. its been a while since mine had eggs but if I remember correctly, it was about 3-4 days before they started hatching. If part of the eggs are white, then the male fertilized it but that doesnt necessarily mean its going to hatch. Of all te eggs my frogs laid, probably less than half of them actually turned into tadpoles.

My ADF's are both boys supposibly, but yesterday I just got them and they where holding onto each others legs, and they swimed around for about 15 sec. So I don't get it. If there both boys WHY did they do that?????

I cant quite find the answer to that.. but my personal guess would be that one of them is actually a girl.

Do BOTH frogs have a small bump/spot by their armpit that is pinkish white ? (pause at 1:28, you can see the spot on the frog).

Are both frogs about the same size or is one noticeably bigger ? Females will be bigger, have rounder bellies and have a small bump between their legs (pause at 1:17)

And if youre absolutely sure both are male, then maybe theyre trying to show dominance over the other ? Im no expert on frog behaviour but I know that some male animals 'mount' each other to show dominance (itll look like theyre having sex).

Well one is darker than the other, but one always hangs out between the rocks so I cant tell if its smaller or bigger, will the bump be in there back or front legs??

back legs.. it'll kind of look like a small tail. Also, males tend to have darker skin so check that one for the pinkish/white bumps and the other one for the 'tail'.

let me ask you something. WHERE DID YOU GET THEM??? and this happened to my "boy" ADF's today but it was for about an hour. if one gets a big stomach you are a mother or father.

Nope, they died after the hatched. Haha its actually the opposite with these guys.. if you leave the eggs in with the parents, the parents will eat all the eggs so if you want to try to raise tadpoles, make sure you take them out asap and put them in another tank. If one of your frogs is grasping onto the other like mine are at 1:12, chances are, theyre going to reproduce. Also, if you hear a small buzzing kind of noise, that would be something like a mating call from your frog.

Also, there are thermometers that you can find in pet stores that you leave in your tank so you can make sure the temperature is consisting. Keep the tank out of direct sunlight but use an aquarium heater so make sure they dont get cold.

Yup and the water needs to be at 74 degrees F. The thing is, and I dont want to seem cruel, I wasn't planning on keeping them. I didnt know what else to do with them so I took them out of the tank and eventually they hatched.
