  • Comment removed

Sonata Arctica - Die With Your Boots On (Iron Maiden Cover)

Blind Guardian - Mr. Sandman (The Chordettes Cover)

Blind Guardian - The Wizard (Uriah Heep Cover)

  • These are hardly "metal" bands.

  • Seether did a better "Careless Whisper"

  • @gecas1108 fuck no seether did not do a better careless whisper, they did terrible at it. how many times did you get dropped on your head to think that horrible display of a cover was remotely appealing to listen to.

  • It was all good til I got to number 10. Don't get me wrong, I like CoB... But them covering BS.... I felt like my soul was getting brutally raped...

  • Mushroomhead did a better "Crazy", Raintime a better "Beat it"....

  • @metalfuk i completely agree sir : )

  • @metalfuk Totally agree.

  • @metalfuk You are right!!!

  • fucking mushroomheads crazy is so much better

  • @evilspitfire69 I agree!

  • Phantom of the Opera by Nightwish?

I also agree with those who say that Disturbed isn't metal. It's hard rock, but definitely not metal and neither is Marilyn Manson IMO. I also don't understand why you thought Whiskey in a Jar covered by Metallica was better than some of those others.

  • Yo Ten Masked Men, I'm really happy for you and imma let you finish, but Yngwie Malmsteen had the best Beat It cover of all time!

    ALL TIME!!

  • Shout 2000 by DISTURBED is today the finest metal cover (although their cover of I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For may just out perform it) since Metallica covered Whiskey in the Jar.

  • @Ozjourneyman I agree.

  • @Ozjourneyman Well, Disturbed isn't a metal band, so there's that.

  • @nelfarios By genre definition DISTURBED is an Urban Metal band. I know they are not Classic Metalists such as Black Sabbath or even Led Zepplin and nor are they True Metalists as some classify Metallica or Iron Maiden but they do play and perform under the genre of Heavy Metal. Just look to any music store and they fall under the Heavy Metal genre. ;)~

  • @Ozjourneyman Urban Metal is not a subgenre of heavy metal. Led Zeppelin weren't metal either. Disturbed is Nu-Metal, a fusion of Hard Rock, Hiphop, Grunge and Metal. The metal influence is tiny, however, so they can not be considered Metal. Nu Metal is not a legitimate subgenre, because it's main influence isn't metal. It's not like most music stores have a clue about heavy metal, they see a band with guitars that scream once in a while and label it "metal".

  • @nelfarios It's nu-METAL. Just because it's heavily influenced by other genres doesnt mean it isnt metal..

  • @MaidenFan146 Of course it does. When the main influence isn't metal, the band does not play metal. Easy as that.

  • @nelfarios Okay, so tell me how Disurbed's main influence isnt metal then. I dont see much other influences other than metal. Just because other nu-metal bands may not be mainly influenced by metal, it doesnt mean that Disturbed aren't mostly metal..

  • @MaidenFan146 Industrial Hard Rock, and they do mix in some Hardcore-punkish breakdowns. What's the metal influence you see? The riffs aren't heavy or fast, or even technical, the drums are slow, there's a heavy lack of guitar solo's, and the vocals could just as easily be Grunge/Hard Rock vocals as Heavy Metal vocals. What I'm saying is NU-METAL isn't a metal genre at all. No Nu-Metal band plays metal.

  • @nelfarios metal doesnt HAVE to be heavy, fast and technical to be metal. nu-metals just a DIFFERENT kind of metal sub-genre. Metal is all about being different, and doing what you want to, not conforming to what someone else sees as metal. Disturbed, and any other nu-metal band, can be classified as metal, it's called nu-METAL for a reason.

  • @MaidenFan146 It's called nu-METAL because producers thought it sounded cool and more rebellious kids with parent issues would listen to it. It's got nothing to do with the music. Metal's characteristics are many, such as classical influences in the song structures, guitar solos and whatnot, and the general thickness of the sound created by the instruments. Sure Disturbed has some metal influences, but they aren't very prominent. The constant breakdowns are more in line with hardcore punk, and..

  • @MaidenFan146 ...and the guitarwork + drums sound more Grungy than Metal, more in the veins of Pearl Jam and Nirvana than any Heavy Metal band. And yes, techincality and speed is an important part of heavy metal, unless we are talking about the mindnumbingly, riffcrushing, heaviest of all genres; Doom Metal, where they focus more on slow, chugging heavy riffs and a deeeeep bass tone. Disturbed does not have this either, they are a midtempo Hard Rock/Grunge band, classified as metal for the kids.

  • @nelfarios Okay, you're being closed minded. Disturbed are nu-METAL. The genre is named as a sub-genre of metal, and it's different to other types of metal. Just as black metal is different to power metal, and death metal is different to thrash metal. They're ALL DIFFERENT, and nu-metal is a DIFFERENT type of metal, why is this so hard for you to understand? You're no different to any of the "purist" metalheads that claim metal has to be thrash/heavy metal, and any new sub genres are poser.

  • @MaidenFan146 And you are repeating yourself, you have not given a reason for them being metal yet. I've said why they aren't metal, but you've yet to argue your point. Black, Death, Thrash, Doom, Power, Sludge, Folk, Drone, Grind etcetc all have things in common, like the thickness, composition, classical inspiration, heaviness and technicality. Nu-Metal is a marketing term, and it has almost nothing in common with metal. You obviously can't find a good arguement either, proves my point.

  • @nelfarios Yes, I'm repeating myself. And why do you think this is? It's because you're too ignorant to take on what I'm saying. I've argued my point plenty, you just haven't opened your mind to other peoples opinions. Yes, you're argument is perfectly valid, those sub-genres do all have things in common, but that doesnt mean nu-metal isn't metal. What I'm saying is that metal changes, nu-metal is just different. Read the wikipedia article on nu-metal, I think that proves my point clear enough.

  • @MaidenFan146 Understand that I'm not hating on Disturbed, I have nothing against them, they're just not my cup of tea. I'm just sick of the mislabeling.

  • @nelfarios I never said you were hating on them, I just asked you to prove what you stated. I would say Disturbed's main influence is metal, so judging by your labeling methods they are in fact metal. Just because other bands in the nu-metal genre may be mostly hip hop, or mostly grunge, doesnt mean that no band classified as nu-metal can be metal.

  • @beastwithinares Actually, alternative ROCK and gothic ROCK... distortion does not make it metal.

  • Great!!!!

  • Metallica made the music even better than the original!!!

  • I have your Number one on single...by METALLICA lol. Good work.

  • bad ass i like it

  • sepultura orgasmatron of motorhead

  • @200520412 One of the sickest covers ever!

  • actually 'whisky in the jar' is slow, folk irish song, not a cover of any band. cheers. ^^

  • @rudy93xD Thin Lizzy covered the song first, and Metallica covered their version of it. I prefer Lizzy's.

  • THIS IS PUSSY SHIT !

  • @brointhehood Cunts aren't anuses, so nothing can be pussy shit. However, anuses CAN be cunts. You know... like an Anal Cunt.

  • i prefer mushroomheads cover for #20

    /watch?v=01AaHZZSvX8

and metallicas cover of turn the page should replace astronomy

  • all my 323 thumps up for #2

    la isla bonita

  • The Berzerker - All the things she said

Talking about covers by METAL bands

  • Seether - Careless whisper?... the best cover of all time!

  • @tik700 Seether are far from metal. They are post grunge.

  • @tik700

No it is Twilight Guardians and La Isla Bonita.

  • @tik700 its a good cover but not really metal

  • @DogLord1234 well yeah i know it's more grunge but...still! it's so good it should be there anyway xD

  • @tik700 yeah...probably should

  • @tik700 METAL COVERS

  • @tik700 that is sooo shitty maybe one of the worst covers seether is terrible

  • @tik700 thats indeed an awesome cover, but not a metal band

  • Whiskey in the jar is not from Thin Lizzy but rom The Dubliners but still an awesome cover

  • Where is Maniac by Firewind?!?

  • Lacuna Coil's Enjoy the Silence is seriously the best cover ever. Hands down. No competition

  • Seether did a better Careless Whisper

  • Raintime's version of Beat it is better than Ten Masked Men's version

  • @destructio17 Yup.

  • i agree with #4

  • doesnt the bald guy look like an older eminem

  • children of bodom cover of rebel yell should be on there, along with machine heads cover of message in the bottle lol

  • But Metallica does do so many and so does Blind Guardian so its hard to "rank" them, at least you had the Blind Guardian spread your wings cover. and whiskey in the jar for metallica.

  • Metallica does better covers than the one listed, so does Blind Guardian, waaay better ones. Yes new list for sure

  • I think Mushroomhead does a better cover of "Crazy"

  • i really recommend checking out the Careless Whisper cover by Seether,

it's sung and played with such passion and you would nearly forget that it's a naff george michaels song :P

  • Good thing to add to the list: Sunglasses at Night by Francis Soto (cover of Corey Hart) watch?v=HC9IOmVAUDM

  • You should check out Mushroomhead's cover of Crazy by Seal. I think that one's better.

  • lol the cob cover is so fuckin funny

  • imho best is Mushmellow - Toxic (Britney Spears cover)

  • Sonic Syndicate - All About Us, Deadlock - When Time Runs Out, Raintime - Beat It

KsE - Holy Diver, BFMW - Sanitarium, Megadeth - Paranoid, Trivium - Master of Puppets ???

  • Mushroomhead played "Crazy " better I think.

  • Half these bands arent even metal

  • Firewind - Maniac (Flash Dance cover)

  • One thing i noticed. Metallica's cover of whiskey in the jar was actually not a thin lizzy cover. Whiskey in the jar is an old irish drinking song that goes back to the 19th century. Either way, it is a great cover!

  • @howdyd000 I agree with this, but it's a lot easier to say Thin Lizzy does the original than "Whiskey In The Jar by Some Irish Folk Band" lol

both versions are amazing in their own ways

  • children of bodom so fucccckking funny¡¡¡¡¡

  • Heavy fucking metal perkele vittu saatana!

  • whiskey in the jar was by The Dubliners, but that doesnt take away the fact its a good cover

  • Maybe the best cover ever - Seether - Careless Whisper, is missing ... wtf

  • you know yngwie malmsteen has made a much better cover of beat it than ten masked man. and wiskey in the jar isn't written by thin lizzy it's an old irish folk song.

  • #19 Is actually a cover of a cover. Leonard cohen Had written it. nice list though!

  • WTF?!!!!! YOU HAD THAT CRAPPY CARELESS WHISPER INSTEAD OF SEETHERS COVER AND WHERE IS STATIC LULABY TOXIC??? WHERE??? WHERE IS IT ON THAT LIST???? WHERE?????? WHERE?????????????????????????????

  • unlike a lot of folks---i think ya did a great job.....i may not agree on all the tunes ....but kudos to you for even doing it......rock on brother!

  • the best is 3!

  • @Colderia

What? The best is La Isla Bonita by Twilight Guardians covering Madonna's piece.

  • the australian band LORD did a cover of On a night like this by Kylie minogue, which u would only have heard of if your australian, but its funny as fuck
