  • Just so I know I'm getting it right cause I like to know what I'm playing meaning the Key, is this song or intro or whatever in the Key of A#/Bb since it's in that area?...I think you said on video somewhere it was the root....

  • @jet0577 Johnny B. Goode doesn't fit into any one parent major scale. In true blues fashion, it's a combination of things. The primary tonality is Bb major, but there's some minor mixed in too.

  • @jet0577 If you'd like to learn more about this, then go to my Guitar-Music-Theory website, click on the link for my free iTunes podcast and then listen to episode 10 (number 2 on the list) "Blues Guitar Theory."

  • @GuitarMusicTheoryTab Thanks I just might do that...I'm a big fan of learning music theory and knowing what I'm playing rather than just playing it...I think it's good for some people to know who never took music before and want to get a better idea of what's actually going on

  • Chrome says website contains malware :/

  • @BlackManSlim562 Sorry about that. The blog portion of my website was hacked. It's been fixed. For the record, my mailing list and shopping cart are completely separate and secure.

  • press 4 for the beginning of revolution by the beatles

  • ahhhh 240p, we meet again....

  • The primary instruction is excellent. It is well thought out and clearly explained. I also like the way that you break the piece down into chunks.

What I don't understand is why you wasted almost two minutes of the video explaining that the 1st-2nd & 6th strings are not used only to show the first and second strings being played in the second segment. That whole thing about only using the A-D & G strings was very confusing to me. And it's not true. The 1st and 2nd strings are used a lot.

  • @winstonoboogiejr Sorry for the confusion. I'm referring only to the partial "E form" barre chord, not the whole intro. This lesson is used to demonstrate the CAGED chord system I teach in my book, Fretboard Theory, and DVDs.

  • i never noticed how intricate the intro was

  • Please post lessons for the rest of the song!

    Very good stuff, thanks!

  • That guy has scary long fingers!

  • 62 people COULDNT follow

    the simple instructions.lol

  • Very well illustrated and played slowly so that we can all understand and repeat. Thanks and I look forward to learning other Chuck Berry, Rolling Stones songs.

  • BOOOORRRRIIIIIINGGGG!

WATCH cHUCK'S HANDS AND SLOW DOWN THE FILM.........FOR CHRIST'S SAKE!

  • @daze2525 You're just disappointed in yourself, aren't you.

  • Thank you

  • I´m trying to find the remaining part of your Johnny B.G., which is one of the pedagogically as well as musdically best, but I can´t find it

  • @Peter2nd Sorry, this is all I have.

  • Johnny Be Good by Marty Mcfly

  • Great Lesson, i learned alot, thanks!!!

  • THe problem with this song is, that you can play it in 100 diffrent ways! But it is a really funny and cool song! I haven't learn the lead guitar -_- .. yet =D

  • Look at those freakish fingers!!!!!

  • CHUCK mr. ROCK N ROLL .....................

  • Matinee310... Marty and Justin are incredibly good at explaining things too. Desi, Marty & Justin are all top rate. We're all grateful for their videos. BTW... Desi' s fretboard theory book is awesome!

  • very good

  • My guitar teacher would kill you for sticking thumb from the back.

  • @Carthsting You must have a classical guitar teacher. Classical guitarists DO keep the thumb at the back of the neck, but that is because they don't use the techniques commonly used in electric guitar playing. In every other style of guitar playing, it is acceptable, even preferable to bring the thumb around the neck. This provides more support for string bending, and also allows for the use the the thumb in the formation of chords and muting of the lower strings.

  • @danhughart Well that explains everything.I cant say i really sucked at my guitar for first 4 months of him teaching me, i just could not show it because of him saying "keep your thumb" every 3 seconds.

  • @Carthsting Don't be discouraged. Four months is really not a very long time to be playing an instrument. Keep at it (if you want to) and be patient. You will get better :-)

  • PURPLE PICK!

  • how does one go about getting that lovely echo-like sound, or rather, what are your amp setting? I play acoustic so I wouldn't know =(

  • @mattybock I have reverb and a slap back echo.

  • @GuitarMusicTheoryTab hey sir, how do you name the notes so quick? i understand basic theroy, my teacher says i have to count out E string than 1st not on e sting 1 fret is f# and so on and so on. is there a simpilar way

  • @RockSignProductions To learn the notes on the guitar fretboard see my book Fretboard Theory Chapter 1: A Quick Review. I also teach this in my pentatonic and CAGED DVDs.

  • i like this varey much and i'm learning it

  • top music

  • Cool thanks alot now I just have to play this fast enough to make it sound good, bud where is the rest ore is it only the intro?

  • Excellent I think you explain this better than Marty or Justin!!!!!

  • Great job, I like your style of teaching. Just one question though, what about the rest of the intro till the first verse?

  • you arer a very good teacher!!!

  • @GuitarMusicTheoryTab lol ya i was going to say right off the bat that it was johnny B Goode, but never mind lol

  • SHIT

  • ST-901 Johnny B Goode, Chuck Berry (Guitar Lesson) es la mejor de todas

  • muy buena leccion maestro mis respetos desde argentina

  • Yes, a better lesson. We can really see that Chuck's leads were very chord based. So much can be learned from Chuck. His style is a "must learn" for an beginning to intermediate guitar palyer.

  • 1971superlead- You have a point, but Chucks famous intro to Johnny B Goode is a note for note copy of Louis Jordan's 1946 song Aint that Just Like A Woman. Listen to Jordan, and T Bone Walker to learn many of Chucks riffs as well.

    watch?v=gZpNT_xiX7Y

  • Thank you!

  • good lesson!

  • its chuck berry

  • This was one of the most helpful lessons I've came across on youtube.

  • the legend says that chuck berry learned this riff from chuck norris.

  • LMAO....too funny

  • your a retard chuck norris jokes are soo fuckin gay and annoying

  • Dude, it's true. I read it on wikipedia.

  • Thanks for the lesson. It's a great help.

    adfrocker133,

On the contrary, it's great humour,... Chuck Norris jokes gay and annoying... ?!

Not being able to find something funny and call people " retard " is just... a kind of jealousy after all.

  • haha jealousy?

nahh farthest thing from it those jokes are just over used

  • they arent overused before chuck norris sais they are over used

  • omg god your such a ffucking faggot

  • @napomania - chuck yeager

  • awesome

  • this is awesome!! Not to start a war, but maybe the King of rock n roll should have been Chuck Berry. This is a genius riff and no wonder guys like Keith Richards, (et all) got so into music after discovering this. My 14 year old pointed out that the influence hasn't stopped when you consider that a relatively new rock band is named Buck Cherry. Can't be an accident.

  • chuck berry must have been some kind of deity to come up with that riff

  • i got the 1st part down

  • its johnny b goode

    not johnny be good

  • You're right gutendag. But I did a little keyword research and discovered that most people type it into the search engines wrong. So I titled it that way in order to catch the traffic. Clever, don't you think?

  • you got long ass fingers but sick playing dude

  • this really helps...thanks a million!

  • awesome!! Thansk a lot!!

  • this is great

  • whats the distortion for this?

  • you're great! I'm lovin' it

  • I love it! I'm 39 and have been playing the easy (cheating version) my whole life - and in A, not B flat. I promised myself to finally do it right. Mine sounds good, but this is best, and correct.

  • My Man you are tops!!! Played myself since my teens, solo and in bands(58 now - but still kicking). If youtube had been around then - I could have saved a lot of time and worn out less vinyls....Enjoyed just watching you a whole lot. Thanks man!

Ps: How about teaching some stuff by Pat Metheny??? :)

  • Super gut zum Lernen, Danke.

    Mehr davon!
